... I'm not a huge fan of the BCS, and think they should at LEAST go to a Plus 1 format.

The Plus 1 idea is ridiculous. The argument against it has always been, "It will add an extra game.", but a playoff among the top 4 does the same thing, so instead of a Plus 1, it only makes sense to just do a playoff with the top 4.

Of course, I prefer a top 8 tournament while others prefer a top 16, but I'm at the point where I think that if it ever happens, it will be the next generation of college football power brokers that puts it in place as the current one is too stupid.

I thought a plus 1 was a 4 team playoff among the top 4?

So....it seems likely that Alabama and LSU will be #1+2 at the end of the season. Do they play each other for the National Championship? If Alabama wins, do they share it, as LSU already beat them once?

A rematch causes all kinds of problems, I think. If LSU remains unbeaten, I don't think Alabama should be the team playing them in the N.C. game. LSU already proved they are better by beating them in the regular season.

Thoughts?

if it ended today..who do you think should play lsu???please dont say houston lmao.. that would be a 2 qtr game lsu would most likely have them about 40-0 at the half..bama is the only team thats proved they can play on the same field as lsu...So far..lsu has still got to beat 2 of the hottest teams in the sec..if they do that and bama beats auburn..i dont see any other way to make it right........one more thing...lsu proved to me they couldnt score a td against that defense in 4qtrs....they run up and down the field on the other teams ..same with bama....if i got my way they would take the sissy goal down and play 6 qtrs..damn a bunch of field goals

The Plus 1 idea that was pitched would have let the bowls pick their teams much like they did before the BCS, and then after the bowls, they would have picked 1 vs 2. This has so many flaws, it's just laughable. An actual four team playoff would be 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 with the two winners playing each other.

Didn't LSU already beat down Oregon? Convincingly?
He probably didn't remember. That's a lot of hangovers between now and then.

Oregon, Oklahoma St, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and USC could all beat LSU. Too bad we wont see it. I personally think the SEC is highly overrated this year (just top heavy).

cmon man!!,,lsu already beat oregon 40-27...i still thought they had a chanch till they lost to usc...okl st had a shot..but got beat by iowa st..i forgive okl for playing dead against TT..but then...they lost to baylor....wisconsin lost to ohio st...how could they beat lsu? they cant even beat the teams they must beat to get there..bottom line i wanna see the 2 best teams in the nation..play for the shiney football..right now bama lsu and arky control..iF they dont lose..then like the teams you just named ...they go backwards..we may wind up with 2 loss teams in the NC before this is over

I can't wait to see a thrilling 9-6 overtime game again!

im telling you guys..this is not on paper yet...bama hasnt beat auburn yet...and lsu has got 2 more tough games ...and even if it is a rematch...dont look for the same finish

What's with all the Houston hating here? They can't help it they play in CUSA....they have to play whoever is on their schedule. I guess if they had lost a couple of games no one would be ragging on them. They go undefeated (so far) and all anyone talks about is how overrated they are, they haven't played anybody, were losing to La Tech, blah blah blah. Say what you want but they've done everything they can possibly do the elevate their BCS status this year. It's a great story....a program that was in a shambles just a few years ago. Besides, it's college football....where you can expect the unexpected. Anything can happen in one game (remember Utah-Alabama?).

Now I'm not saying they are the best team in the nation by any means but shouldn't we all have an opportunity to find out on the field of play instead of having armchair experts on a porn forum unilaterally declare that they are hereby deemed to be unworthy simply because they say so? :dunno:

I'm not saying at all that they are not a capable team. My whole thing is I ranked teams based on merit. Not what they can do, or what they would do, but what they have done. I look at their schedule and there is nothing at all on there. Just compare them with Tulsa. Both are 7-0 in the C-USA but Tulsa has 3 losses overall. Why? Because they actually went out and played good teams out of conference. If Tulsa beats Houston this weekend, I will have them in my top 25, without a doubt. This will be the 4th tough opponent they've played all season. In comparison, this is Houston's first true test.

One last zinger before I leave for the holiday. Don't be surprised if Tulsa beats Houston on Saturday. They are actually tied for first in the western division with the Coogs and the winner moves on to play in the conference championship.

OK....Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

Agreed. I actually have Tulsa winning. They played Oklahoma State very well earlier this season in that game that got delayed til like midnight. And Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

That's a good question. I would say Oklahoma State, as they are the highest ranked non-SEC team in my rankings. If they beat Oklahoma, which I don't see happening, and go on to win the conference, that only strenghthens their case. But if you're strictly asking me who is my number 2 team, it is Alabama without a doubt. I'm really disappointed with UO and OU. They should be in the argument, but blew it. Anyone picking UH is a moron.

Totally agree. Can you imagine if Arkansas beats LSU? It'll come down to the BCS rankings. Pretty much it would come down to whoever won the matchup between the 2 highest ranked teams, as they will be ranked within 5 of each other. My guess would be 1 - Bama, 2- Arkansas, 3 - LSU, as voters tend to look at late season games more favorably. But Alabama has the weakest case. They got to play both teams at home (in comparison, Arkansas had to play both games away from home), and LSU beat Oregon non-conference. If this were the case, Alabama would advance to Atlanta cuz they beat Arkansas, the 2nd highest ranked of the 3. And my guess would be that LSU plays Alabama in the National Championship. Stanford probably won't even play in the Pac-12 title game, which hurts their chances. And I'm on record as saying I believe OU will beat OSU.

Just FYI - I don't read your posts because you use "..." waaaaaaay too much. It is irritating, makes your posts harder to read, and serves absolutely no purpose. Why can't you just use one . and the space bar?

this +

Bama and LSU play again, you'd likely see a 24-28 game easily

Houston's record means diddly shit

Oklahoma State
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Oregon

all decent teams, but right now LSU is the best with Bama just a sniff away

Thanks for stating everything I already know. My point is that I don't think LSU is a good as everyone thinks they are. I would like to see how LSU does against a legit QB (we might see that against Arkansas). The SEC doesn't really have good QBs which is why they destroy all their opponents.

Houston would give LSU a good game, not beat them, but they would give them a good run. College football is more about styles than the NFL. Some offensive styles are effective against the LSU defense. Go back to the West Virginia game where the Mouontaineers had a field day getting up and down the field on that Tiger secondary. Likewise Oregon, they couldnt run on LSU, but Darron Thomas had a field day with the pass (which was how Oregon scored 27 points, cause LaMicehal James didnt help any causes). Houston plays a much different spread than West Virginia and Oregon do. They play a true shotgun and they have the speed and skill at reciever to keep the LSU secondary honest and make them have to play in ways the weak sisters of the SEC cant force them to.
Alas, this game wont happen, LSU will be playing in the biggest one of all, Houston if it wins out will likely end up in the Fiesta Bowl, if not than the Sugar Bowl is probly their second destination. Would be a fun tho, if for no reason than just to see how many points are scored.
