Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Texas is in a precarious situation because of the Longhorn network. If, or i will say for intensive purposes WHEN, the Big 12 dissolves, Texas will want to go to another conference, and having a network of their own is going to pose a problem with their future conferencemates, but ive been hearing the Pac 12 is willing to talk about the issue and come to a resolution with Texas about the Longhorn network where they can keep it and not be a problem with the other schools in there.

The Big 12(9) is finished IMO. UT and OU are joined at the hip whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Who would the Hatfields be without the McCoys? UT would have to (and should) dump the Longhorn Network to join the PAC-16. My guess is that OU and OSU would go along with UT and another Texas stablemate in Texas Tech. Missouri would then likely bolt for the SEC since Slive and crew would love to have access to the St. Louis and Kansas City TV markets. This is in spite of the rumors that Mizzou would rather join the Big 10....doesn't appear that interest in them from the Big 10 is mutual at this point (why I'm not sure....still holding out for the Domers?). KU is supposedly on the Big East's radar....for the basketball program. That leaves Baylor, Iowa State and K-State out in the cold to lobby for membership in a second-tier conference, most likely the WAC, Conference USA or the Mountain West. Here begins the building of the Superconferences.

My college football history goes back to the days of the Big 8 and the Southwest Conference. To see this happening to the Big 12 is sad for me but is a foregone conclusion barring a miracle nonetheless from my perspective.

Missouri is probably a better fit for the Big 10, but the only question is, are the Big 10 officials smart enough to realize this fact? And if they are, would the SEC bring Baylor on board? This may seem unthinkable, but I felt the same way when South Carolina got an invitation.

Only northern, confederate crushing states in the Big 10. No border states or southern states.

Understood Yumi but that's the way it was last year too. No matter....the few of us who regularly participate is fine....just trying to generate some additional interest.

The diehards will always be on them picks, and one way to look at it is that it's more special and meaningful that way. Anyways, here's my picks......

Texas at UCLA (Texas > San Jose State)
UL-Monroe at TCU
Arizona St. at Illinois (I'm scared as hell of the letdown this week)
Auburn at Clemson (Shoulda beat Auburn last year at JHS)
Florida A&M at USF (Holla holla, It's murdah)
Baylor BYE (Baylor in a tight one)
West Virginia at Maryland (Geno son)
Ohio St. at Miami (FL) (Last week was a good thing for the Buckeyes)
Tennessee at Florida (I haven't been this nervous about the Tennessee game in like 6 years)
Michigan St. at Notre Dame (Me picking against the Spartans seemed to work well for them last season)
Troy at Arkansas
Arkansas St. at Virginia Tech
Missouri St. at Oregon
Navy at South Carolina
Washington at Nebraska
Idaho at Texas A&M
Oklahoma St. at Tulsa
Wisconsin BYE (Push)
Stanford at Arizona (Upset special)
Oklahoma at Florida St. (I picked the criminoles to finish runner up to Bama, so I guess that means I got 'em winning this one)
Boise St. at Toledo (Broncos don't have to worry about taking their 6th grade level exams, so all their focus is on this game)
LSU at Mississippi St. (There might be a total of 20 passes in this one)
North Texas at Alabama

Be interesting to see how the season develops for M. The team is still in a transition and finding starters for key defensive spots.

A very good sign was our ability to score 28 points in the 4th quarter. Borges' offenses are notorious for executing big plays in the latter half of games though.

DR was the reason for 28 points in the second half..that boy is special..i seen that last year...they are going to get better as the year goes on..he may have the best legs for the job in the ncaa..and made me see he has a better arm then i had thought

The starting QB is usually the reason for the points scored by a team's offense..

He has a very strong arm but he's just not that accurate right now. Part of his personal transition is to let the play and the game come to him. Something he has to re-acclimate himself to after 2 years of RR beating hurry hurry hurry into him. I think that's why some of his passes sail on him..well that and he just needs to get better at passing the football and stop throwing it.

i think what they need to do is turn him loose and let him get in rythm and play his own game...i bet he will be a household name like mark ingram was here in bama before its over

Ummm, yeah, I can see how that might be a problem for a quarterback.

On the bright side if he ever gets to the pros somehow all that hurry hurry hurry stuff will actually help them out later on since quick decision making is one of the most important aspects of the job almost to the point you need to know what's going to happen a little before it actually does. Otherwise you either get sacked, or those small windows to throw into close up as the defensive backs close the gap while you were searching around, not to mention reads to to potential receivers have to be made rapidly and in quick succession.

Hurrying doesn't make one fast nor quick and mostly produces error and inefficiency.

For most things those two concepts are almost the same thing with the only thing to differentiate the two being the competence of the person performing the act. If one doesn't work on getting faster and being better while doing what they do they are probably not going to get better at both as fast though.

I'd hardly say blindly chucking bombs downfield and getting lucky against inept defensive backs makes you special. I do think that Denard Robinson will become one of the very best kick returners in the NFL, I'm talking Dante Hall, Desmond Howard, Josh Cribbs.

Wisconsin BYE
Stanford at Arizona (Stanford's Luck continues)
Oklahoma at Florida St. (Sooners are the best team in the nation)
Boise St. at Toledo (A cakewalk for BSU)
LSU at Mississippi St. (Bayou Bengals win a close one in Starkville)
North Texas at Alabama (Poor Mean Green will be slaughtered)

Being fast and rushing are not equal.

Rushing is what you do precisely because you aren't fast (enough) at what you're doing.:2 cents:

Inefficiency by it's nature begets rushing. Being fast though, means you've necessarily rooted out the inefficiencies in your process and have it distilled to it's functional essence for your capabilities.

Give it some thought.

a qb has got to have a little luck..but it was the way he run up and down the field last year that made me say...damnnnn..hes fast>>>>

I had a wild idea that would pretty much end the debate on the Big 12(9).

The SEC takes Texas A&M, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri.

The Pac 12 takes Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

This leaves Iowa State and Baylor. The SEC can pay off one of them, the Pac 12 pays off the other and then the other conferences can start their hunt for more teams.

Iowa State should (I doubt this will ever happen) join the Big 10 and Baylor can shop around to see who wants to give them an invite.
