One of these World Cup's the US will win it, just like the ladies did it not long ago. Truth be told, I'd rather they win the gold medal, but the World Cup is a pussy hair just short of that because the whole world watches the olympics.
The U.S. has 2 crucial injuries which will affect things--Oguchi Onyewu is a badass--BIG defender who likes to toss people around like rag dolls. He tore a knee ligament and may not be in game fitness in time for the World Cup. Charlie Davies had a big game against Brazil and was doing well with Sochaux--France. He was in a career-threatening car accident. It's not likely he'll be back for the WC, maybe he'll play again? :dunno: Speed kills and he had enough speed to give any team something to think about. You can't teach speed, and you have to defend it.
So, with those 2 losses, the task of the U.S. team getting through the Group Stage is difficult. We will beat Algeria--they're shite. But Slovenia is a Wild Card. WHo knows anything about them?
I like the U.S.'s midfield--it's basically the strength of the team. I think Landy Cakes is shite, but maybe he can distract our opponents while Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore do all the damage....The loss of Gooch hurts because he was our size at the back against corner kicks, etc. We're small in defense now....
I like the idea of DeMarcus Beasley as a Defender...but he has been in shitty form the past year. He might not even make the final roster?
A draw against England would be GREAT :thefinger but I still like our chances of finishing second and moving on to the elimination round.

No, he's doing amazingly. He's still one of the best strikers on the planet and even the president of Brazil is pressuring Dunga to call him up. As is half the Brazil squad as they all look up to him. Even now, with shattered knees and overweight, he's still fast, has the most accurate foot I've ever seen and still dribbles players which Cristiano cannot do. Legend.

He's right. I think USA will qualify from England's group, but the next round against likely Ghana or Germany will be too tough for them.

I reckon USA will get good results against Algeria and Slovenia. They should win both, but like I say, as soon as they are in second round they will face most likely the winners of a group that has Germany, Ghana, Australia and Serbia. I like the USA and want them to do well, but don't think they can get past the likes of Germany. :2 cents:

Im going for Germany this year , I think losing Enke in the way that they did will spur them to do well , I think they will just push and play that little bit harder plus when the big tournements come round there always there or there abouts , I bet Italy would win it the last time when no-one gave them a chance and I won a wad of cash from the bookies because I got good odds before the draw was made at the last world cup

I'm not bitter to be honest. To quote the man Roy Keane, Ireland never led over the two games even though they had many chances, including an open goal, to do so. They couldn't get the job done and got punished for it.

Yeah I agreed with Roy as well , just deal with it , if it had happened the other way around I dont think the Irish players would have admitted it either lol its shit when it such a big event though , I felt for the players though some of them wont get so close again , to have your dreams snatched from you like that would be hard to take though but I think the Irish players showed great dignity at the end of the game , they just seemed to be like well thats football , it was everyone else that kicked up a fuss

Totally agree. I'm a big Arsenal fan and I had zero empathy for bolton when the fans and manager said they were cheated by Gallas (had to be him, lol) when he got away with a foul. That decision helped to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 win, but that's football.

I like Arsenal as well they play great football and I hope this is there year , plus Wenger seems a decent guy I would like to see them win it for him so he can justify what he does , I listen to Talksport a lot and a few Gunners a few months ago were wanting shot of him , but who could they get thats better they just have to have faith in Wenger
