Wasn't the best performance from England, had a good 1st half, but had the same problems as usual by not taking our chances to finish Tunisia off, being given a poor penalty decision against us seemed to knock us back a bit, as we struggled to create many chances in 2nd half, but managed to win right at the end which is the main thing I suppose, should be able to get out the group now with this result.

Well looks like Ronaldo is carrying the hopes of a nation and all his teammates on his shoulders judging by today's performance.

Portugal are nothing without Ronaldo, they are playing the same way as when they won the Euros two years ago, if Morocco had better quality in front of goal they would have easily beaten them, I'm expecting them to be negative against Iran and play for a draw, as they will be happy enough to just get through.

Meine Güte! That was WAY too close for comfort! The Swedes had us on the edge, but the morale of the german team woke up, and we made the two goals we needed. But I guess all those germans hopping in their cars and riding arounbd town like after the finals in 1990 were really pushing it :1orglaugh

Now we have to do it again on wednesday, against South Korea, and we should be through.

Great performance from England, even though we didn't create many chances, we at least took the chances we did have, which we have struggled to do before, the real test will be against Belgium depending on whether each team decides to rest some players.

I know how you must feel, I felt the same back in 2002

I think right now the french and german national team look very much alike : many young talented player but no real leader. German recently lost Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Klose and Podolski and these guys haven't been replace. Some younger player took their place (Kimmich, Goretzka, Brandt, Werner) but they don't have the same charisma, the same influence on the team. And guys such as Muller, Khedira, Ozil or Boateng neither.

You summed up well the essence of what our tv commentators said, too. We have Oliver Kahn, the iconic goalkeeper, as a tv co-host and every time i see him, it remeinds me of how he and other leaders in our soccer teams always went the extra mile, and accepted responibility. When I lok at Özil and other players, they don't have the heart like those players.

In every one of our three group phase games, and the few games before, there was a lot of moving the ball left, right, back left, but no fast combinations and very little ballsy moves.

I am glad I don't watch soccer as I did when I was younger, this would really hit me harder. Today, I can watch a game, and if the other team is doing better, it is okay they win, that is the key to sport

If Germany was still in, I would have love to have seen them play Russia in a long, drawn out game at the Volgograd Arena.
The commentary would be worth it.
