In a word, no.
They got to the quarters.
In a word, no.
They got to the quarters.
I guess that depends on your definition of quarters. If you define it as the very first stage where they did not win any games and finishing last in their grouping before the next stage that they did not advance to, then yes, they got there.
After finishing top of the CONCACAF qualification tournament, the U.S. was drawn into Group E along with the Czech Republic, Italy, and Ghana. Since three of the teams were ranked in the top 10 of the FIFA World Rankings at the time, it was considered a Group of Death.
The United States opened its tournament with a 0–3 loss to the Czech Republic. The team then drew 1–1 against Italy, The United States was then knocked out of the tournament when beaten 2–1 by Ghana in its final group match.
I say England because I feel England capable of winning A world cup so hopefully this be our year.
Your poll is missing a largish, English speaking country that features Donovan, Altidor, and Dempsey. :2 cents:
England!
you can't beat Lampard + Gerrard + Rooney!
yes you can.
Ronaldinho. Kaka. Pato. Ronaldo - Beaten
Iniesta. Xavi. Silva. Villa. Torres. Senna. Puyol. Pique. Casillas. Fabregas (on the bench) - heavily Beaten
Gourcuff. Ribery. Benzema. Malouda. Henry - Beaten
Robben. Van Persie. Sneijder. Huntelaar. Van Der Vaart - Beaten
Ronaldinho and Ronaldo aren't even in the side anymore, so nope.
I'll give you the second one.
Gourcuff ( never heard of him ) Ribery ( too old ) Benzema & Malouda inconsistant, and Henry is past it ( unless he has to use his arms, then he's still in his prime )
Robben, Van Persie are world class, unfortunatly Sneijder, Huntelaar, and Van Der Vaart aren't.
I do actually think that if every one stays fit for England they'll have a very good chance. But on paper Spain looks so good it's not even funny, for me they've got to be the favourates.
Think you will find Ronaldinho still plays for Brazil.
Ribery too old at 26 , are you mental? Gourcuff where have you been? Henry , past it lol he could still walk straight into the England team with one leg & Benzema & Malouda would be first picks for England if they were English
Unfortunatly Sneijder , Huntelaar and Van Der Vaart are world class the 3 of these players would walk straight into the England team no probs
I think you will find there are 5 or 6 teams that are head and shoulders above England and the best they can hope for is the quarter finals but theres no chance they will get anywere near the final but your post gave me a laugh :rofl:
