The U.S. team gave a shitty performance today. Yes, the comeback was awesome, yes Landycakes finally showed up in a big match (although I thought he was going to pass the ball instead of shoot it  glad he made the right choice!)

But the broader point is that our team acted like a bunch of miserable, whiny prima donnas. Okay, the ref is off his game. Okay, a team mate makes a bad pass.

It ain't the end of the fooking game. We need to be MUCH MORE SUPPORTIVE out there. My gawd, fookin NBA players get congratulated for missing a goddamn Free Throw!! and our team acts like the world ended with an errant pass

We need to grow up and mature as a team quickly. We haven't earned the right to act like princesses out there. Win something first. Michael Jordan, Kobe, LeBron all get "phantom" calls by the refs because they are superstars. We do not have a single superstar on our team. We must expect the short end from the refs until we win something.

I'm disappointed with the spirit by Team USA. I wanna see major chemistry improvement out there...

We're in good shape though to go through. Especially if England only win 1-0 today :thefinger

The referee in the USA-Slovenia game was absolutely horrible. I dont know what he saw on the set piece where he called a foul on the US. I've gone back and watched the replay over and over and did not see a foul committed by the US instead the Slovenians should have been called for a foul because they were holding on every player in the box. Absolutely ridiculous, the US should have won this game.

There is a conspiracy against the USA. The world is trying to keep us down because the US is one of the best at almost every sport except soccer. All the worlds players want to come to the US to play professionally because we have the best domestic sports leagues. They are holding us back because they dont want us to become the best at soccer because we will then be the dominant sports country.

Yeah. That's it.

England has looked TERRIBLE so far -- almost as bad as the US against Slovenia. I'm sure they'll go on to win this, but I've seen at last four break-downs on offense that should have made for decent shots. I'm sure the players are all incredibly skilled, but they look like they've never played on a team before.

Feels almost like 2006 again. At least we had Sven as a scapegoat then... :(

I have a simple explanation for that disaster:

Would be funny to see England, France and Germany go out in the first round. We'll end up with Ghana v Slovenia in the next round. :D

It will be :crickets: in this thread from our English friends until the Slovenia game :anonymous

What the hell happened? This is almost on the scale of a USA Basketball Dream Team loss to Angola  in the Olympics...almost. :dunno:

I assumed this would be a 1,2,3 - 0 win for England today :wtf:

Who has more ~heat~ on him at the moment--Raymond Domenech of France or Fabio Capello :dunno:
