2010 Tennis Thread (Grand Slams, ATP World Tour, Davis Cup)

Great performance by Justine Hénin. She cameback after a hiatus, she had just played the brisbane tournament (lost in final VS Clijsters).
Being finalist in Australian Open is a great performance :hatsoff:

He had run out of gas by then, but I hadnt seen or heard anything about him being injured. Maybe a link to an article would help :dunno:
if u would have watched it you would have known that he was, it isnot my responsibility to "post an article" to inform you of facts you seem to be ignorant to.Try using google?:dunno:
fed is good but the way he steam rolled over tsonga(what titsrock used for relevance of how murray has, no chance)was not because of fed, it was becuz of tsonga's injury/pre-existing injurys. I commend him for finishing the match, it was ez to see he was suffering from pain/not exhaustio

It helps she's a very special player I think. Henin was one the best female tennis players in a generation in womens tennis let alone the number 1 in the world when she retired first time around, so she's hardly an average tennis player who made a great run to the final. Factor in she was looking in good shape and apparently still training and hitting tennis balls for several months before she announced her comeback, I think it's more about good preparation on her part and good fitness. This should make the women in the top 10 sit up and really up their game mentally and physically which is a good thing. The backhand is still as deadly as it ever was. She'll be a big threat for the French Open and I expect her to push the Williams for the next few years till they retire.

Can't wait for the men's final now, less than a day away and I'm already nervous like an expectant father, lol. :1orglaugh Should be a great match. I expect Murray to lose maybe in 5 sets, but certainly it will be a great spectacle I think. Hope Murray's first serve and deep forehands are working well early in the match.

someone needs to pay her and fed a severance to quit, they probably arent even human, theyre probly alien cyborgs from another planet

I don't mind Federer so much as he doesn't come off as an arrogant a-hole and seems like a nice guy. I do hate him for Beating Roddick the way he did at Wimbeldon last year though. That was the most upsetting defeat I've ever seen.

It's good to be the king...
Very good match last night, a lot better than if it was a one sided straight sets victory. Both players had their good and bad points, ultimately i wanted Serena (despite her turn @ the US Open) to win and she did :D.

Looking forward to tonights match, regardless of who wins.... i don't want it to be as clinical (or easy) as Roger's win against Tsonga.

I did watch the match, and I did use google. You're the only one who seems to know about this injury :dunno:
Before the AO he made it to the final of the Brisbane tournament, losing to Verdasco, a top 10 player.
To reach the semi final at the AO, he played two 3-sets, then a 4-set, then two 5-set matches. It is significant that Tsonga had never (never) played a 5 set match before at ATP level. Now he has to play two in a row? That will make you tired, right?
Apparently he was only injured when he played Federer :dunno:

At least you wanted Henin to win :D :hatsoff:

interesting reding, by no other than Pat Cash.

he says:

Before watching Federer crush Jo-Wilfried Tsonga into a disorientated and dismayed figure who had not been just beaten but destroyed, I was of the mind that a little good fortune, a strong game plan and a firm mind would give Andy Murray a chance. Taking stock of what I saw in Federer’s straight sets annihilation of the big, tall and powerful Frenchman, I told myself to get real.

i totally agree.

Okay guys, almost time. It's 1:20 am here in Minnesota right now and I am on my 5th beer. Hope I can stay up for this. I have homework all day tomorrow but I am intent on catching this final.

The Australian Open is my favorite major, even more than the US for some reason. Maybe because it gets dark here every night at 4:00pm and it averages about 15 degrees up here and it's mid-summer for my Aussie bros. :)

I think this will be a close match...closer than a 4 set Federer win. Murray is 6-4 against Federer on hard courst but I will stick with my first prediction: Federer wins it in 4.

Funny thing is that we've had a 37c degree day today, and it went dark at around 4pm here, a bit of rain and the temperature has dropped. The roof is closed and they'll be deciding whether if it remains shut or if they will open it soon. It will probably remain closed as it's looking like more rain could fall.

It was a cracking few days last year with the Nadal - Verdasco, then Nadal - Federer matches last year - late night and buggered the next day. I'm as fresh as a daisy thanks to the Federer - Tsonga match not going too long.

Hoping for a good contest tonight.
