disagree on Federer's. 2nd round: retirement, 3rd round: Kohlschreiber, QF: ferrer/kolya (no problem!).

and Kohl just retired too, shoulder injury
Fed into the QF round, played seven games.

It must be hot out there, mother Murray was really sweating.

Nadal about to win.

barely.

saved a match point, actually.

My picks for today (QFs):

Roger over Kolya in straight.
Baghdatis-Rafa is a coin flipping. but i'd say Marcos in three
Roddick over Nole in three (only if andy is serving good, of course)
Fish over Murray in straight (he's too damn tired)

Hmmm, I heard about Serena but not about Henin, Tsonga, Haas or Karlovic. Sucks for them. I have to say I think the US Open is maybe my favorite tournament, although it did suck watching it and having to worry about school coming up every Fall. But some of the greatest matches I've ever watched were the night session at the Open. ;) So many great Todd Martin classics and Roddick as well, and of course all the Jimmy Connor classic wars as well.

Another Roger/Rafa match opportunity gone
The Cincy courts are the worst type for Nadal though, faster and lower bouncing than toronto. Those are the main reasons why he has never reached the final there I think.
It would have been the most profitable draw if he won - the 'real' number 1 and 2 on one side, and the all-american match on the other.
Federer/Bahgdatis just doesnt sound as interesting.

I always think Roddick is going to lose when I watch him in a rally, his groundstrokes look so pushy compared to the rest of the top guys. Having a big serve helps.

I've never been a huge fan of Roddick's groundstrokes, but they are still decent. I still have hope for him; I think he can capture at least another major.

That could make things interesting. Good chance for a first time champ now, if not for Clijsters and maybe a couple of others.
It also means that Wozniacki will likely be the number 1 seed, which is a bit a downer, IMO (sorry to her fans). She made the USO final last year, but otherwise hasnt done much in slams yet. She is in the same league as Jankovic and Safina for female number ones.
Go Dementieva

Fish and a breadstick in the third, tasty :yummie:

Roddick really fell apart, lost 8 of the last 9 games. He could have wrapped it up in 2, but let Fish off the hook. (get it? ahaha, aha, ha)
Mardy GOATing.

Attacking Federer Reaches Cincinnati Final

http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2010/08/33/Cincinnati-Saturday-Federer-Into-Final.aspx

yay! :nanner:

Roger is playing goooood, just like in Oz. Now i'm happy for the US Open (unlike a month ago...).

Murray fell apart 'cause of his body... but if he's healthy, he will be a co-favorite (oh yeah, Roger is no. 1 in the bets again!!! ;))

Now against Fish... Roger really should win this one. I mean, Mardy is playing the best tennis of his life, but still, his return games aren't as good as his serving ones. And there, Roger can make the most of it.

Must be nice for him to finally get another title after a drought, and getting back to winning a final after losing in Madrid, Halle and Toronto.
However, the two retirements did make things easier for him, along with playing Davydenko who he owns(and he sucks right now). Marcos could have served better too, but Mardy was definitely a worthy opponent. USO dark horse? QF/SF :dunno:
Feds backhand was looking more powerful, although he is still shanking quite a bit. On the improve for sure though, looking good for the GS.
If he wins there he will have 10 HC Grand Slams, strong evidence for being the best HC player ever (even though he already has more HC slams than anyone else).

Mardy Fish's wife> Andy Roddick's wife
:yesyes:

I watched the 3rd set of Fish v Feds. I gotta say Mardy Fish looks legit. He played fantastic. He could be a US Open semifinalist.

I'm not confident of Nadal doing shit at the USOpen. It could be a 2nd Rd loss kind of thing..

Meanwhile in New Haven...
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/24082010/58/round-americans-new-haven.html
James Blake annihilates Pere Riba 6-0 6-1. The match took 35 minutes, the quickest on the ATP this season.
Out of shape Dent takes three sets to defeat Eduardo Schwank 7-6 (7-1) 4-6 6-0.
More American destruction as Donald Young crushes Stephane Robert 6-1 6-2.
So overall a day where the American men hammered, pounded and obliterated their competition into dust. More verbs.
Oudin is out though on the womens side. She wont repeat her 09 streak, no sir :hammer:
She is going to have courage on her shoes btw, after 'believe' last year.

It depends on the draw. If he faces Verdasco or Davydenko in 4th and Nadal or Nole in QF, might reach the SF. But i'd bet on QF only.
Good for him anyway. I love his humble attitude.

Agree. Not 2nd round, but agree.
He won't make the SF this year, IMO. He will lose in QF against Berdych/Soderling, even Davydenko. If he's lucky and get Verdasco, he will make trough. But of course, all the Gulbis/Nalbandians/Isner/Fish are a REAL danger to rafa right now.

Indeed.
Happy times for us all Fedophiles/Rogerholics. :D
It was his 63th career title (WOW! -positive-), 2nd in the last 12 months (WOW! -negative-).
He looks very strong for the US Open now. He, and Murray, are IMO the two main favorites. In a second row would be Rafa and in a third row would be the rest of the big guns (Roddick, Berdych, Soderling).

And for Mardy, it was the 4th final of the year (17th of his career), and that's not a little thing to do (having 4 finals by august), specially for someone like him, who has been write off by many by this time of his career.

If he wins there he will have 10 HC Grand Slams, strong evidence for being the best HC player ever (even though he already has more HC slams than anyone else).

he already is, not a single doubt of that.

in grass, he's in the same level with Pistol Pete.

and in clay, he's in a loooong third row behind Bjorg and Rafa.
