Murray should be fined indeed.

I mean, there's NO WAY you couldn't know you're not going to play with AT LEAST a week before the start of the tournament.

Murray is getting arrogant... hope it doesn't get too damn cocky, Serena-style.

He clearly made a mistake by telling the organizers so late rather than say as you suggested, a week or maybe 4-5 days in advance. But 8it's only a ATP250 tournament with low ranking points, which i hear you don't drop if you as a player decide to drop out. I think maybe he'll think carefully about commit in advance and dropping out late in future.

He's young and World No.3 so it won't really affect him i think. He should be available for Doha.

Apparently he asked for a doubles wildcard for him and his brother before he dropped out too. Jamie won't be pleased.

He should be available for Doha.

you mean Dubai (next week)

Doha was last month, Davydenko won that one, beating Nadal in the final, saving 3 match points in the 2nd set tiebreak.

by the way, Dubai is gonna be awesome! Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Davydenko, Roddick (damn, he's gonna be there? it would be 3 weeks in a row... he should skip this one), Cilic

my guess in advanced: Federer or Cilic ;)

Yeah meant Dubai, tired brain. Murray has a decent, but Fed-ex is favourite.

I just came in my pants. Shahar Peer beats Wozniacki in Dubai! woohoo!!! :nanner: :nanner: :nanner:

With Kuznetsova also out, the draw is wide open. I don't see Venus taking it by default now. She has become an enigma. I reckon that the other top players have lost the fear to play against her.
Maybe Nastya Pavlyuchenkova can upset Venus tomorrow. Nastya already played a good week in Paris. She could be the next Russian girl to break into the top 20.

In the bottom half Aga Radwanska looks good with a 6/3; 6/0 win over Pennetta. Kulikova tomorrow shouldn't be too much of an obstacle.

And a winning comeback for Nicole Vaidisova in Memphis after two lost years. For the legs alone, I hope she can establish herself again on the tour. :D

2009 ATP Awards announced:

Player Of The Year: who do you think ? Roger, of course

Fans' Favourite: who do you think ? Andy Roddick? nah... Roger, of course

Sportsmanship: who do you think ? Nole ? nah... Roger, of course

Most Improved: John Isner. But in a perfect world, it would have been Roger as well, i mean, his 2008 year was "bad", right? he improved a lot and beat everyone in 2009 ;)

Newcomer: Horacio Zeballos

Comeback: Marco Chiudinelli (Roger's best friend in the tour)

Tournament of the Year Shanghai (Masters 1000), Dubai (500), Bastad (250)

is there any doubt of the size of the figure of Roger Federer ? guess not...

50 years from now, i can see myself telling my grandsons... "i saw Roger Federer play... oh, and Michael Jordan as well"

Keothavong seems in good form, beating the young portuguese scream queen De Brito in straight in Memphis 6-3 6-1. She's reached the 3rd round who she'll play Karolina Sprem.

She's got points to defend after reaching the semis last year so so far so good. looks good to break inside the Top 100 before too long. Let's see if Bally can join her later.

She won in straight sets to set up a clash with Sharapova. Should be a good match I think.

Hopefully it will be as entertaining as last time :D

If someone said after the 2008 Australian Open that Novak Djokovic wouldn't win any of the next eight Grand Slams, you'd have laughed big-time.

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/powerranking?season=2010&month=2

that's sooooooo true... he even didn't made a Slam final since his Australian Open title... poor Nole. He's good and all, but not THAT good. Sorry djoker, but that's the way it is.
He is still young, at least. I mean, he has achieved more than Murray at the same age. Maybe he could still get better before he gets too old :dunno:
He is the youngest player in the open era to have reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events. Is that all that can be expected of him?
His results arent showing a lot of good signs at the moment though, plus theres guys like Cilic and JMDP getting better.

Is Martina Hingis making a comeback? I heard something about her playing again the other day on a sports t.v. show and was very curious to know if this was indeed true?

I've missed her so much! :lovecoupl

Hi, MILF Man! Hingis will play on an established exhibition tour in the USA along with other former star players. Kournikova has played there, too. Martina won't make a competitive comeback on the WTA tour, though.

As for current events: Another good week for Shahar with a semifinal appearance in Dubai. Let's hope that Venus will get her ass whooped by either Vika or Aga in the final.

Annie Keothavong takes on Sofia Arvidsson in the Memphis semis. Sounds manageable. I'll sacrifice a lamb for a victory over Sharapova for Petra Kvitova. :lovecoupl
