But comparing/analyzing/predicting how teams will do is something we all do with our teams. It's the point of recruiting...so the team doesn't suffer a "down" year.

Okie State brought in Bill Young--a very "solid" College Defense Co-ordinator for this season. I think Okie State will improve just by having him run the defense.

I think they can beat Bama, too. Va Tech has a pretty slick QB--if he can complete some passes on Bama early, the Tide won't be able to just try to squash the run. The Tide are going to be breaking in a new QB--this is a tough game to debut in if you're a new QB...

Nick Saban has had difficulty following up a big season with another big season....

I could not agree more.I just don't see the winning ten again maybe 9-3 Ole Miss has a bone to pick with them and the game will be in Oxford this year.Would you consider Va.Tech a sleeper for the National Champion:dunno:

Va Tech has a *dream* schedule to get to the Title Game. Maybe they SHOULD be considered a dark horse to meet the Gators (if they roll through the SEC). But, to win the NC....hmmm. I really need to see them play before I go that far. They play Bama, Nebraska and Miami in 4 weeks....that's a gauntlet right there.

But comparing Oklahoma State from last year to this years Oregon team is just stupid to me.

Alright--- questions for everyone in this thread to answer.

Did the Oregon Player--LaGarrette Blount--commit assault against the Boise State player --Byron Hout?

Why isn't the Boise State Player being suspended/reprimanded by Boise State for violating the Boise State Code of Student Conduct or for simply conducting himself in a manner not consistent with the "image" of Boise State Football? Should Byron Hout be suspended for a game or two for his behavior?

Is there class in victory as there is in defeat? Or is sportsmanship a tired relic of "bygone eras" and today's sports climate dictates that trash-talking is an accepted part of all sports?

The final impression of 2008 (and early impression of 2009) was that Oregon was going to unload on everyone offensively "next season" because they put up a ton of points and yards in their final game and looked so good doing it. So I think Bodie was just admitting *shock* that Oregon, with the same players, against a "supposed" inferior opponent (you called BSU embarrassing a few posts ago, right?) did not look like a lethal offensive MACHINE.

If we don't use the final game of a season to gauge the next season--than why do most people think Florida is the best team in the nation right now and a lock to get the title game?

Assault I would not go as far and say that.I think they did the right thing as far as suspending him for the season and I really hope Hout is reprimanded I mean I would think he would be:dunno:

You're just proving my point. Things don't turn out the way they ended a season ago. A game between Boise State and Oregon doesn't dictate how Big 12 defenses are going to play.

The reason why I said Pac 10 teams should be ashamed of what Oregon did, was because that perfromance was just god awful(0 first downs in first half). If Boise wasn't so sloppy, that score could have been much worse. Plus, the scene at the ended of the game was just an embarrassment.

It was embarrassing for my Sooners to lose agains't Boise at that time they played, because everyone was saying "David vs Goliath", and how Boise had no shot. That game will never be forgotten, and will live with me until the day I die. :(

If we don't use the final game of a season to gauge the next season--than why do most people think Florida is the best team in the nation right now and a lock to get the title game?

I personally think it's stupid. Plus, Oregon killed Oklahoma State last year, but yet Oklahoma St is ranked way ahead Oregon this season. How much can you buy into what happened in the bowl games?

Tulane looks like they're about to be driven into the turf tonight by Tulsa.

How the mighty have fallen...Bob Toledo not Tulane. When Toledo was at UCLA about 10 years ago...He was nearly turning the top recruits in the country away as he didn't have room for them all and was running a high powered offense...he could just never put together a dominant defense....

Talk about wicked twists of fate. UCLA had a game scheduled against Miami (FL) in '98 I believe. A hurricane caused the game to be postponed and it was moved to the last game on their respective schedules.

UCLA goes undefeated until they play Miami and a little known back (to the rest of the country) Edgerrin James goes off for 300+ yards and upsets UCLA in a high scoring back and forth game....Knocking them out of National championship contention

UCLA had pretty decent pass defenses but their run defense was a swinging gate.....Ron Dayne predictably went off on them in the Rose Bowl that season as well...

For all of Toledo's great recruiting the guy only had 2 very good seasons at UCLA.....I guess that's why he's at Tulane now....

really? i think notre dame just finished paying for his crap job of recruiting.

He had good recruit Quinn was one of them I on't think they gave him enough time and you saw what Weiss did with his players and once his recruit came in what happened it is hard to play sometimes with other coaches players for example Michigan and the spread,Weiss had sucess because they rame somewhat of the same offense don't get me wrong I think and this is just me a coach should get at the least 3 and a half years to see what he can do.But it is what it is now on that same note i have no idea what the hell he was doing in Washington same type of offense he coaches but they just sucked maybe lack of talent he just did not have it there :dunno:
