2007 MLB Thread

I agree caligula, they won't win again this year, in fact they wont win again untill they figure out that money doesnt win championships. They need to stop trying to field an allstar team every year. I personally don't like the direction Steinbrenner has taken my beloved Yankees in since 2000. But hey thats my team, I'll pull for them untill the end every single year no matter what they do.

For the first time I like what a Yankee fans says about his team and I also agree with it. Most Yankee fans tend to think that the more allstars they get to better the team will be. That's sadly not the truth. The Yankees have to start from the beginning and get new "young" players to even out the team. Waste some money on new talent not on A-ROD or anyother overpaid player. They should traid A-ROD for some talent. Don't you agree?

thats a lot easier said than done. who else can handle that contract? the cubs seem like a viable choice, but tribune wont open their wallets too much. especially since soriano signed. the red sox? they dont want him. the angels? ha! id looooooove that.:1orglaugh the dodgers? no way. the rangers? he aint going back. who else is there?

I agree that they need to go a different direction, they got rid of Sheffield and Randy Johnson, which was good. A Rod needs to go bad. Actually I think it would be easier to start with who they should keep instead of who they should gid rid of. Personally I would sacrifice the playoffs for the next few years to get some young talent out of the farm system and come back as the monster that they used to be in the mid and lae 90's. Everyone on the team besides Jeter, Posada, Damon, Pettite(sentimental reasons) and Reviera(I can never spell his name right) should go.

If you think about it the dominant Yankee teams of the late 90's had a core of talent that was developed by themselves. Then for some reason they just tried to buy talent without developing any of there own and I think it hurt them more than they thought it would, especially when they had a tendency to throw ridiculous amounts of money at aged veterans that had there best days either behind them or soon to be behind them. You don't buy old superstars and expect them to maintain their level of performance for years on end. Over the past six or seven years the Yankee's farm system has had a lot of years where it has been practically barren. They not only need to pay out a lot like they do, but they need to start spending their money wiser, like waiting for some young dominating forces that they can then lock down for a long time, along with bringing good people up from there own system. It is a lot better spending it that way then barrowing a person that is washed up for a year or two.

The worst mistake they have ever made was trading Soriano for A Rod, that still pains me to this day. It also kills me to see someone like Melky Cabrerra sitting on the bench this year, someone they developed in their farm system. I would trade Matsui for some pitching and let Melky play left, he is a much much better fielder. The kid has all the potential in the world and he is riding the bench.

It's New York. If he starts off well they will probably forget about it in a week and a half and start loving him again. :1orglaugh

i really can't give him crap for that move. doing what he thought he had to do to win. he just got caught.

it was still ridiculous enough to make me and the entire baseball world laugh. what he should have done was run the guy over. but, no, softy roddy cant do that. :D

or tries to slap the ball out of the fielder's glove again. :1orglaugh

-----flashing back to the '78 series and Reggie Jackson's interference :banhim: with Bill Russel's throw that was ruled otherwise ]------

at least in A-rod's case the umps got the call right
