I read a lot of different comments on the board, but one thing is missing zo far, at least for me. Something people seem to overlook. Isn't it so that most of the fun, the serious threads, the laughing in between members, the respect towards each other,... all of that, doesn't that start with the members themselves, or even better with YOU, yourself?
I mean, it's the members making the board, and what the board has got to offer towards each other. If there are people active who are just posting to get a certain amount of posts (for instance to gain rep power or points), just leave them and ignore them. I read here that in the old days 50% of the first page of the Talk section were serious topics back then, why do'nt you start a serious topic yourself if you believe that's not the case anymore?
Me, from my side, I see a small amount of relative new members who really do an effort to make and try it work. So why not contrabute with them if you don't have the inspiration to start a new thread?

Anyway, just my :2 cents: of course. I'm only trying to help...

I have said this many times and have been roundly ignored each and every time. The Talk section has become a mud puddle of crap, threads that obviously belong somewhere else. But no one seems to notice or care. So the next noob comes in, sees what's in the Talk section and sees nothing wrong with posting his own non-relevant, should-be-somewhere-else thread, and the cycle contines. I'm not talking the apocalypse here, but I think that this has had a subtle but significant effect on this section.

As a matter of fact, as I type this, I'm remembering a thread that I posted years ago about this very thing (I am so not going to try and find it). I made a list of the then-current threads in the Talk section that so obviously belonged somewhere else, mostly in the Babes section. Crickets and snores. OK, fuck it, it ain't my board. I know better than to **** against the wind. But the fact that this thread exists makes me feel validated in my opinion.

I started a similar thread/poll and received a PM from a team member warning me not to waste my time amongst other things.

OK, so the Talk-section is too wide in your opinion then? Fine, I even understand that. But what do you want to see in there for instance? Only serious discussions about eg global warming, politics, daily newspaper articles, the financial worldwide crisis, etc... or do you mean you still want to see thread like now but with more arguementation in between the contestants who react on these threads?
Or maybe you want the moderation to be more strict on the threads started in that section? I didn't search for the old thread you started about this issue, I have to admit, but I'm just wondering what exactly you mean with the post above, specifically then? I might just be me, but it's not clear to me, except you think there are threads in there that don't belong there. Question then is, do they belong somewhere else, and if so, where. Like for instance these poll threads where you can choose which babe you like best, would you transfer them to the babe-section, knowing it's not about one specific girl? Just asking...

This is surprising and not surprising at all, at the same time. I'm not asking and I don't really want you to tell me, but I'm curious who that team member is (because it's probably who i think it is.)

I'm not able to say all I want to say because this is not worth getting ****** over. But you hit the nail on the head with what I highlighted. Also, johnnystyro said what needed to be said. And I think that if this had been done all this time, this thread wouldn't be here, the mods jobs would be much easier and more members who either disappeared or got evicted would still be here.

Also, I want to go on the record saying that this is the board that I have come back to since 2005 (and if memory serves, I lurked for quite a while before signing on). When I log in here and see a line of "off-section" threads, I don't get emotional. This is how it has always been and I live with it, like an annoying little ******. But now, one of the Big Kahuna's of the site has asked, "Why is it this way", and I have spent 6 years waiting for it. This is my answer and I'm not surprised at all by the question.

I can't remember. It was probably almost 2 years ago.

The members back then were much more... um... interesting? Thought-provoking? Entertaining? Something else? I'm not sure which of those it was, but the board was much more interesting when I first joined. Regulars like sputnikgirl, becks, senob, Lone Gunman, slowhand, chef, violator, torre, dr. death, Dave Rhino, mini d, tunsty, Dr. Motorcity, Lady Love, hell, even DVC, fox, and BigBadBrody made this an interesting and fun place to frequent. Back then there were always at least a handful of interesting threads on the first and second pages of Talk that were worth posting something in. Back then we didn't regularly get bombarded with pointless threads by a single member who was just adding to his post count without really contributing to the board. There was always a good balance of serious threads and nonsensical threads that kept the board fun for everyone.

These days there are usually only one or two threads at a time that pique my interest enough to make worthwhile contributions. Half the time the Talk section is littered with post count spam threads like "I'm gonna send a friend request to an OCSM. I hope she accepts me," and about 15 more such bullshit threads by the same person on the first page alone. It's a drain to open Talk and find **** like that on a regular basis. There is more bitching and fighting between members now than there used to be, and that often takes the fun out of being here. I often find myself logging in just because there's **** that needs moderating, but not because I wanna stick around bullshitting like I used to. There are days when even doing that seems like a chore.

I think that about sums it up.

Beside the board being slow and cumbersome now and my avatar dying a slow death - had to get that out of the way.

What GSB stated is spot on.
Back in the D, I used to think about logging in after work just to see what was going on.
I haven't felt that in a few years now.
The little infighting, the funny stuff being written, the personalities of the members was very
diverse. It also seemed that we cared about each other back then. I know that seems weird on the Net, but that's how it felt. There was a sense that what we contributed was taken to heart.
The good old Freeone's days.

I remember a lot of people getting involved in the bush kerry wars, one clan opposed to another during the elections of 2004 but also better friendship was here. I do remember the story of Lisa, a guy who ****** himself for a girl and who ended ****** permanently. I also remember the war between freeones and one member in particular, lord raven.
As D rock and jod pointed out, the older members were much more contributive to the board with good and constructive threads than a lot of the threads we see now. Over the years, I have seen members getting mad at each other and fighting against each other for a yes and a no. Also, let's not forget that people like Nightfly who was the biggest whiny crybaby the board has made run out two ocsms, totally unforgivable and also had a holier than thou attitude that too was a part of the good old days of the board.

I Guess gunslingingbird & jod0565 & georges, Have Kinda Summed Up My Feelings, That I Miss The Day's When I First Started On The Board. It Seemed Better Conversations & Bantering. We For The Most Part Got Along Together, Even When We Disagreed With Someone, We Showed Respect Towards Our Fellow Members. Not Today, Lots Of Nitpicking, And Slams Thats Uncalled For. I Allways Thought We Was To Come Here And Have Fun??? Maybe I Missed Something, Now It Seems We Are To Show Disrepect & Slams Towards Other Members And The OSCM's??? I Can't Do That Yet!! Maybe, Maybe Tomorrow Oil Dude, I'll Pick On You! Nah, I'll Pass! Later Everyone! ;)

If you have something to say, spit it out. As long as you're offering constructive feedback, you're not going to get ******. If you're using it as an opportunity to drag the mods you don't like through the mud, then that's an entirely different story.

You hit the nail on the head. Why would I have any dislike for the mods? When have I ever given the impression that I woke up in the morning and thought, "Gee, I think I'll start **** with people who can ban me?" I really never have. And for the record, I have no problems with any current mods as it relates to them as posting members....I just think they are lousy as moderators.

My problem with your mods is they don't do anything to police this board except ban people. Look through any multi-year thread, start at page 1 and go through the posters. ******, ******, ******. C'mon, you're telling me that the sheer tonnage of people that have been ****** is realistic, or that they all did something to deserve it? I know better. Meanwhile, this place is a mess with threads that belong elsewhere. The confusion that this causes has its effect. I am not going to repeat everything I said above, it's right there. And I'm not going to carry this on any longer than I have too. I stand by my belief that if the mods directed traffic much better than they do now, this would be a better board, more people would be posting constructively in the Talk section, the mods would have an exponentially easier time of things, and more of our old-timers would still be here. I truly believe that there are many who have left because of the ineffectiveness of your mods.

One thing I will repeat, I'm only offering an opinion that was asked for by Roald. If this thread didn't exist, I wouldn't be saying any of this. But this thread was started and it was started for a reason. I'm not joking when I say that I've been expecting this for 6 years.

Ok, so let me ask you this question. Are you privy to our infraction system? Do you know who's gotten an infraction (not a ban, but an infraction to let them know they overstepped themselves)? All you can see is the bans, which are just a fraction of the 450k members we have on this board.

The only reason I'm bringing that up is because people often forget that things are being taken care of behind the scenes, we just have the policy of not dragging people through the mud. IF the person that's been infracted wants to talk about it, that's dandy. But we're not going to go around and point out who got a point for flaming or whatever.

As far as the threads, let me ask you another question. Do you help alert the mods to threads that are in the wrong section by reporting them? There are 12 moderators on this board to police almost 500k threads and over 6 million posts. Most members think the report button is only for spam or reporting someone that's flaming, but its OK to use it to alert the mods to a thread thats in the wrong section.

Do your part and help them out instead of being passive agressive about it. ;-)

I know that I got ****** last year after taking a very light swipe at a mod, in a discussion thread, on a day when he was in one of his pissy little moods. Boothbabe got ****** the exact same time over the same thing....and it was BS. We were responding to the statement and not "flaming and/or encouraging flaming of a moderator" in the slightest. I have also seen what people have posted, and then saw that they got ****** immediately following. Alot of these cases were too extreme. I hope it goes without saying that I'm not claiming that no one should have ever been ******. But I am by no means the only one who has shaken his head over the amount. We have had threads on this.

The only reason I'm bringing that up is because people often forget that things are being taken care of behind the scenes, we just have the policy of not dragging people through the mud. Confusion causes frustration, frustration causes anger. People get to the point where they don't know what is acceptable or not. They see one thing, interpret it, then get in trouble, wondering what the hell is going on.

One mild example is posting pictures. I see pics and gifs in the middle of threads. Yet, every time I try to post a pic I get slamdunked by a mod. In my case, I just say fuck it and I haven't attempted to post a pic in months or longer. But others get confused, frustrated, pissed. (This is one, benign example, nothing that needs to be addressed for my benefit) Repeating myself: I was not the one who asked the question in the thread title.

There are many ways to answer this. Mainly, it's all in the thread title. If I'm a passenger in your car, do you need me to tell you that that thing over the intersection is a traffic light, and it's red, every single time we come up to one? No. It's your car and you should know how to drive it.

Right this second, I went through the first two pages of the "Talk" section. Here's what I found:

Poll: who is the best mexican pornstar in your opinion?
hottest latina
Poll: Best Girls????
Poll: Does your wife or girlfriend let you give her (cum) facials???
Gemma Massey - new bOObs and Lips
Prettiest Pornstar / Face
Nessa Devil - new bOObs
sexy eyes
Who you like better?Ava Devine or Ava Lauren
Biggest tits you wanna titfuck
searching gallery (camilla jayde)
Poll: Are Real or Fake boobs best?
Poll: Who is the best pornstar??
Karma Rosenberg VS Laura Lion
Hottest Black Pornstar
Best anal scene you have ever seen?
Erotic Female Wrestling
Best large breasts / cleavage of a pretty *********
Sidewinder Tits?
Rate this woman - Teri Weigel

All of these do not belong in the talk section (and you and I both know that right now is a particularly slow time for Polls - this girl vs. that girl, so add a couple more of those for a more accurate scenario)
Now, do you really need me to notify you guys every single time I see one of these threads? Are you going to like me better if I do? I doubt it, I wouldn't. But why should I have too? These guys wanted to be mods so bad. This is part of their job, IMHO.

I just got to the point where I figured that this was how you wanted the board. No one else brings it up, no one else complains. If no one else minds, then I get over it. Is this not a good thing, on my part?

And yes, I honestly belive that the scattershot way this board presents itself affects the tone. If you disagee, it's your board.

Do your part and help them out instead of being passive agressive about it. ;-)

I don't think that I'm being or have been passive or aggressive about anything. I've mentioned my opinions on this matter before and let it drop when it needed to be dropped. I may not like the mods (as mods), and they may not like me, but no one can say that I keep starting anything with anyone.

Mayhem, I really want to thank you for your input. There are a lot of things we agree with over here but which are just not that easy to change.

For example, even if you think the mods are only banning people then I do have to tell you you are wrong. This is a massive board and the banning of people is only a small part of the mod job. Besides that we did loosen up on the banning a bit as I agree some were trigger happy. These days its 90% spammers who are being ******.

As for the threads, yes I agree that some (not all) of them do not belong in the Talk section. However there is not really another section they do belong in. They do not belong in the Favorite Babes and Fetishes in our opinion. So the solution could be creating yet another sub section for non babe related things (or the other way around).

There are other things you mentioned that are being changed this very moment as a test to see how things work out.

Please dont think we are not listening, if I did not care I would not have made this thread.

In my opinion they do and I don't comprehend any problem putting them there. In fact, I could make the case that they would do better in the Babes section. But, fair enough. Either way I'll be here tomorrow and so on. I was able to say my piece and none of it is meant personally at the mods. Individually, I like them just fine. But if I see them all in the same car, I'm shooting at the tires. :D
