I think France is growing tennis power and Monfils, Tsonga, GASQUET (yes Mr Miami Makeout Artist)....and others represent some exciting opponents. In 2 years...maybe these players will all be Top 5

Dont forget Gilles Simon :D

i disagree with you guys there. Monfils, Gasquet and Simon already peaked, IMO. Tsonga has a possibility of Top 5, indeed. But not that high. 5, 4, maybe 3.

The Men's World is incredibly deep at the moment.

damn right! just look: Fed, Rafa, Nole, Delpo, Murray, Kolya, A-Rod, Soderling, Verdasco, Cilic, Tsonga. those are fuckin' GREAT players!

it's good to be a tennis fan right now ;)

I'm surprised that Henin and Clistjers are able to come back and dominate....

i'm not. this days (years) the WTA sucks. talk about Ivanovic, Jankovic, Safina. pufffff

it's bad to be a WTA fan right now

Hey--I was telling you that Nadal needed to dial back his schedule....now, he probably will have to :crying:

told ya...

Maybe if the mob were Federer fans it might make more sense. They would have to check out the betting history that day to have a case.
When he got in trouble with throwing matches for money, there was a massive bet for the other player(who wasnt very good to begin with) after the first set, which Davydenko won.

Would you say Azarenka is involved in the mob too, considering her performance? :dunno:

Federer wasnt playing his best in the first set, he had 25+ unforced errors or something? He said it was because of the sun he couldnt make contact well. Even admitted to taking a toilet break to stall for time for the sun to pass. After that, you know what happened.
Theres a reason why Federer is number one with 15 GS wins, and Davydenko has never reached a slam final.

It was the allegations made on ESPN that brought it to my attention. Then I was like he does look a little shady, and he can kick the crap out of anybody on a court. :dunno: Honestly, we will never know about tons of stuff that goes on in this world, so, yeah...

I don't think we can trust Uncle Toni at this point. He doesn't complain about tendinitis on grass or clay. He probably needs to relook at his shoes on hard surfaces and he needs to start wearing knee braces

His body is too young to be breaking down like this. Either his training or fitness needs to change or he needs to break out the knee braces on concrete courts.

I don't see anyone standing in the way of Feds. I think he will be taken to 4 sets by Murray but Feds is playing too, too well, imo. Been busy in RL so I haven't seen a lot of this tourney lately...

Maybe he's taking 'roids...

Aus open:Go murray!!!

He probably has been. Maybe Rafa needs to call up Rog Clemens and get the skinny skinny on HGH  :dunno:
I think nadal hurt his knee. lets face it,as much as I like murray, he wouldnt have beaten nadal if he wasnt injured..athletes are not quitters and you will never know if they were injured as they will go till they cant anymore. I think he did the right thing though, no use in injuring it any further.

Cilic is awesome but I forsee injuries in his future per his height.
Rodic..fav player, he had a good run but I think he is on the down grade
maria sharapova..I wish she would get up on D'S NUTS

damn! i've never thought about it... but man, those muscles... those cronic injuries... MAYBE, just maybe... the rage against the ATP doping control...

so, the ATP drug test are shit ?

Aus open:Go murray!!!

yep, he just beat Cilic to make his 2nd Slam final (after the loss to Federer in US Open 2008) with a pretty solid game, despite having lost the 1st set.

congrats to y'all brits and scots ;)

with this result, Nadal is going to be 4th in the world on monday... poor guy.
and my guess is that he will fall to 5th (Del Potro will pass him). and the amazing Federer-Nadal rivalry will be over (in finals, at least... now it will be QF and SF)

Nadal claimed he hurt his knee near the end of the second set. He was already a break and a set down at that point.

I reckon Nadal knew he couldn't win so he used the small niggle he had as an excuse to quit. If the match had been close or had he managed to break Murray back in the third set when he had the chance he would have played on.

his knee could have been hurting him the whole time and he probably did something to it in the 2nd set that made it worse and he did the mature and veteran thing and retired. I just dont think that murray could have commanded him the way he did if his knee wasnt hurt. Sure, murray is capable enough of a player to beat nadal, but the way he was owning him was a result of nadal's injury. I mean, cmon, were talkin about nadal here..lol. murray is good but the way he was beating nadal, he isnt that good, nadals knee was just that poor.

Did anyone watch cilic vs murray and see that last shot of murray, maybe it was 2nd to the last before the end of match? that was awesome

:nono:

according to rafa himself, even if he had won the 2nd set, he would abandon, so... i don't he's bullshitin us.

murray is good but the way he was beating nadal, he isnt that good, nadals knee was just that poor.

i disagree. Murray's A-game is capable of beat the shit anyone, including Roger and Rafa, as he has done it several times.

by the way, Nadal is going today to Barcelona to make some medic tests, and determine the scope of his injury. Rumors says that he'll lose Rotterdam (discount him 300 points) and Davis Cup 1st round (it's not a problem, since spain will defeat a federer-less swisterland team).
but, if this is true, i wonder how he will show in Indian Wells, where he defends the title... 5th or 6th isn't that far, fellas...

whats the deal with andy rodic?
i think he is just going to keep getting
injured.
Maybe in the slams he makes it to the qf's on "cruise control"
and when the competition gets stiffer and he has to up his game
is when he injures/re-injures him self. He is getting old..this is going
to happen more often I think

he's not finished. not yet

just look: in 2009 he made a grand slam final and a semifinal. that's pretty something.

he's not going to win another slam, but he will fight in QF and SF, no doubt.

Great win for Murray in finally taking care of Cilic in 4 sets to reach the Australian Open final. Well done to Murray and commiserations to Cilic. Despite not playing to his best form, he had a measure of control over Cilic, who finally ran out of steam in the fourth set when his tired and weary body couldn't handle Murray's groundstrokes as well and he made more mistakes.

First set went to the Croatian who took his chances in two poor Murray services games. Despite Murray having chances and trying to push Cilic early on, he lost out on his serve for the second time in the set, 6-3.
Second set Cilic kept up his good form and threatened Murray but he held firm and a tight 5th game on Cilic was sparked into life with a fantastic retrieve and simultaneous passing shot by Murray over his shoulder when Cilic lobbed him at the net. It would the crucial break of the second set as Murray held his nerve and serve to see out the 2nd set 6-4.
Another early break in the third gave Murray the advantage, but despite pressing Marin in a few service games, the Croat once again held on with some strong groundstrokes. Again, Murray held on to serve the third set in similar fashion to the second, 6-4.
Fourth set was easier for Murray as he broke Cilic twice and broke his resolve as he tired after his long 5 setters in the tournament finally caught up with him. The highlight of the final Murray service game however a brilliant shot on the run that bent round the net post and into the court after seemingly losing the point after a excellent Cilic return. Murray took the match point with a Cilic forehand long and it confirmed the young Scot's progress into the final where he'll meet either Tsonga or Federer.

there you go, people... if you didn't see the game, there's the recap ;)

Murray looks fir to win it all. He gets 3 days rest. If it Tsonga that makes a miracle over Federer, Murray will cruise. If it is Federer it will be a toss up.

We should not press the panic button on Nadal's career just yet. Nike and Babolat are too heavily invested in him to just throw the towel in on Rafa.

Best case is he has no ligament damage or knee degradation and he either has to take a pain reliever shot before matches on concrete, he looks at wearing lighter shoes (his present shoes look like freaking mountain climbing boots) or low-rise shoes with a fatter tread, or he has to break out knee braces.

Worst case is he gives up on hardcourt events and focuses only on Wimby and the French plus other high profile events.

If he tore something in his knee and needs surgery and 6 months rest, than I do think his long-term career prospects are in jeopardy in terms of passing Pete Sampras and challenging Federer for Greatest Player Ever. Pete never conquered clay. It would be disappointing if Nadal's training regime made him too fragile to compete on hardcourts...

So how many majors do you give him this year? He might get one, IMO.

If healthy in time for Roland Garros...he will win the French. He is untouchable on clay, when healthy.

That's a big IF though because he's getting MRIs and Uncle Toni is probably making bad decisions for Rafa right now....

Die For Me
It was a domination tonight
Fed is running hot :Flame:

Tsonga was tired out though, similar to Cilic :dunno:
Still, he had no Chance at all :hammer:

The final should be good (if Murray loses )

After brief consideration following the federer/tsonga match, i have came to the conclusion that murray is going to obliterate federer.

Federer's offense vs murrays defense, youth, backhand and quickness will lead murray to a victory in the 5th set
