I really thought Davydenko was going to KILL Federer after that first set. He had Fed pissed and everything he beat him so bad that set. Maybe the worst set Fed has ever played, or that I've seen him play.

I think Davydenko is in with the Russian mob the way he throws matches and stuff. He probably makes them a fortune. Maybe they have his wife and kids locked up somewhere so he does what they say. He is just too damn good a player to lose sometimes the way he does.

He was accused of throwing matches a while back, but was cleared. Looking the way he does, I wouldn't put it past him. :tongue:

Great win for Federer, but that Tsonga/Djokovic match was weird. NoDjo is usually a lot more solid but some of the forehands he missed and bread and butter shots were extraordinary. I think he was really inconsistent in that match, with Tsonga barely better. Tsonga might as well go home if he plays like that against Federer.

Yep. Saw the show on OTL on ESPN. He is definitely suspect. It's just too easy to throw matches. Imagine all the money could make (or has made) for the Russian mob.

Dude he's in with the mob. I really think he is after all the allegations and all the freaking game he has. I honestly thought he could have kicked the shit of Fed. He looked light years ahead of him in the first set.

We'll never know. But pro tennis players - although filthy rich - don't make nearly as much as other pro athletes such as golfers. Ther's a million dollars up for grabs every week for them not like tennis where there is 4 majors (maybe they get a million if they win) and other small rank events.

Maybe if the mob were Federer fans it might make more sense. They would have to check out the betting history that day to have a case.
When he got in trouble with throwing matches for money, there was a massive bet for the other player(who wasnt very good to begin with) after the first set, which Davydenko won.

Federer wasnt playing his best in the first set, he had 25+ unforced errors or something? He said it was because of the sun he couldnt make contact well. Even admitted to taking a toilet break to stall for time for the sun to pass. After that, you know what happened.
Theres a reason why Federer is number one with 15 GS wins, and Davydenko has never reached a slam final.

I don't think we can trust Uncle Toni at this point. He doesn't complain about tendinitis on grass or clay. He probably needs to relook at his shoes on hard surfaces and he needs to start wearing knee braces :eek:

I don't see anyone standing in the way of Feds. I think he will be taken to 4 sets by Murray but Feds is playing too, too well, imo. Been busy in RL so I haven't seen a lot of this tourney lately...

IMHO, i would vote for a long break (3 or 4 months), and comeback strong. Or playing only a few (about 10) tournaments per year. fuck the rankings.

The Men's World is incredibly deep at the moment.

I'm surprised that Henin and Clistjers are able to come back and dominate....what the hell has happened to the Women's Division? There's a lot of young talent but nobody other than the Williams Sisters is reliable enough to count on getting to the Rd of 16 anymore!

I think Serena's fitness will be her downfall. She just looks too fat and slow out there... I don't know if she took a pass on her offseason workout but look at her body during this tourney thus far...I worry that she will be coming out looking like this soon enough!!!
