Pretty much. Although I don't understand why state universities like Montana and Idaho would not push for collegiate hockey teams. Makes no sense to me. If fucking SCSU, BSU, and MSU (St. Cloud, Bemidji, and Mankato) have WCHA hockey teams, there is no reason why the aforementioned don't have clubs. Hell, even Nebraska Omaha U has their own WCHA team now. :dunno:

I, for one, have always been surprised that Montana and Idaho (and maybe North Dakota) don't have teams in our minor hockey league. Washington has four (Seattle, Everett, Spokane and Kennewick) and Portland has a team (and out East there are plenty of teams in Maine and shit), but there's none in Montana. Maybe it's the lack of people in Montana, but I've always wondered why they don't have a team because (for the most part) Montana is awesome.

Which minor league system(s) are you referring to?

Well, I was comparing American Football to Rugby actually. Those guys don't wear padding, and they are running about the pitch the whole time without needing a break. They take hit's just as heavy.

Since when does every sport need to be violent, anyway? By your logic, 90% of sports are shit because no one get's hurt. That seems like a rather redneck outlook of things...

You know what redneck even means?
I never said a sport had to be violent. Are basketball and baseball violent? No, but I like them.
I just find soccer incredibly boring to watch.

for me its because i can't stand to see grown men who are supposed to be tough strong athletes falling down and writhing in pain every time another player touches them.
pussy shit.

it insults my intelligence.
makes me very angry.

and also because its simplistic and boring.
kick............kick.........kick......

The CHL and (more specifically) the WHL.

You guys have so many damn leagues it's hard for me to keep up. Generally, in America we have high school hockey and then after that our best generally go to college or juniors. College has 4 different leagues HEA, ECACH, CCHA, and AHA and Independent colleges.

You either go to juniors or college. Derek Stepan chose not to play at Hastings which is generally wierd because some players that are good stay and play HS their full 4 years (he chose pre-Juniors, same league that Shattuck St. Mary's/Sid Crosbey was in) signed to Notre Dame but changed his mind and went into Juniors and that worked out well for him. But then you have the Paul Kariya's who go through all of college and turn into superstars in the Bigs.

It's very confusing all these damn leagues. :dunno:

It's actually really simple. While each province has their own league, those leagues are usually never considered serious leagues for NHL-potential players. The most important league we have is the CHL, which is an umbrella league made up of three regional leagues; the WHL (Western Canada), OHL (Ontario), and QMJHL (Quebec & Atlantic Canada). Those are the leagues that most Canadian NHL players will have played in. We also have university teams, but I don't know how good they are compared to the CHL; I assume they're about equal.
