It the Israeli military walking into Palestinian discos with bombs strapped to themselves? Setting off car bombs in market places? They don't have to. They know where the enemy is hiding and launch their attacks on these specific places. Remember that Israel needs to monitor every square inch of their boarders because Hamas and the others completely surround them. Israeli defence and intelligence is highly sophisticated. They have to be considering their position and money spent on it. Mortar attacks come from all sides. If those shells look like they are coming from a school then that's what they are going to hit. Israel has been dealing with this bullshit for decades. The UN hasn't done jack to protect them. After the Yom Kippur war, UN forces were to protect Israel after pulling back from gains into Syria. What's happened since? Syria continues to shell from the north and supply arms to the rest. If you think that UN safe havens for refugees in Gaza are well monitored then read my previous 3 sentences again.

Your scenarios about bank robbers and fugitives are like comparing apples to orangutans. This is a war. People get hurt and shit gets broken. You beat each other down till one gives up.

From what I've seen over the years, if one Israeli soldier or civilian gets hit by a rock that *might* have been touched by a Palestinian at some point in the past hundred years, it's more than OK to bulldoze every house in the village where that rock supposedly came from. Tell me about tunnels going from Gaza into Israel? Hell, I bet there's more tunnels just going into San Diego from Mexico than all of Israel from Gaza. And the poison that the cartels sells here and the killings done by the gangs and cartels on American citizens dwarfs anything that's happened in Israel for the past decade plus. I can't recall if it was Billy Bob Clinton or Dumbo Bush, but the United States actually handed over $100K+/- of hard earned American taxpayer money to each illegal Israeli settler on the West Bank. Ya know what the slick bastards did? They took the money and then went back and retook the houses that we paid them to abandon. But trust me, ya won't be hearin' much about that on the nightly news.

We know the IDF has the tech to pinpoint where the attacks are coming from. They also have the tech to know where civilians, UN schools and shelters are located as well.

I'm surprised you don't see the relevance of my examples. The point is that when innocent civilians are in the line of fire, you DON'T take the shot.
And no, you can't do anything you want in war. It's called the Geneva Convention.

Ask yourself this: If a Hamas rocket was fired from within Tel Aviv (or any predominantly Jewish city), do you think the IDF would be so trigger happy?

The Israel can send in ground troops; instead, of firing artillery and dropping bombs at Hamas rockets. The Israelis haven't sent in ground troops in Gaza City and other highly populated areas. The Israeli casualty rate would skyrocket, but the Palestinian civilian deaths would be reduced. The Hamas military wing would destroy the Palestinian Authority forces since the PLA doesn't have artillery, tanks, and military aircraft. Most of Hamas fighters have battle experience unlike the PLA Forces.

Senior Hamas official Izzat Risheq told CNN regarding the Cairo negotiations that this will be the last time Palestinians will be willing to hold such talks.

"We will not stay long in the absence of serious negotiations," added Mousa Abu Marzouk, a senior Hamas official in Cairo. "The coming 24 hours will determine the fate of the negotiations as a whole."
