The 2011 MLB Thread

And oh how it hurts when you lose to us, huh??

Tell you what, it hurts us Dodger fans too

1985 NLCS game 5 - best of 7 series tied at 2 to 2
Ozzie Smith, averaging a whopping 1.5 home runs per year over 8 major league season, hits his first EVER home run batting left handed to put the Cards up 3 games to 2 :wtf:

Two days later, Dodgers leading by a run in the bottom of the ninth, Tommy Lasorda decides to pitch to Jack Clark with 2 outs and first base open and an ice cold Andy Van Slyke on deck. Result predictable: Three run homer - series over

We DID get a little bit of revenge in '09, but those two games in '85 are like nightmares that just won't go away :1orglaugh

did anyone catch the end of the baltimore-tampa game last night? nick markakis made a great catch to beat the rays... O's 2-0

End of Week 1 and we only have four undefeated team (Orioles, Rangers, Phillies and Red). Three of them are not so surprising considering they were playoff teams last year.

o's are 4-0... already have more wins than we did in the first 20 games last season... I know we still won't make the playoffs, but Showalter is a great manager

It's the beginning of the season, hope springs eternal.

The climb back to the top begins now.

are you a tigers fan STDIVA?

Nope, I hate them. But Comerica Park is a 10 minute walk and a 2 minute bus ride from my house. As a Canadian, I am a Jays fan, (and they're shoved down my throat 10 months out of the year) but I follow the Dodgers too. Apparently I love failure.

dodgers are doing well to begin the year. they took 3 out of 4 at home against the championships last year this past weekend. maybe their new manager will finally bring change to the dodgers.

Twins with a lovely 0-4 8th inning rally and comeback to beat those pesky pinstripes. Much better performance from the Twinks and likely the team all you bastards are going to have to swallow for the next 6 months. Always puts a smile on my face to beat the pinstripes. :hatsoff: Best believe the Twins are going to the World Series this year, mark my words.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
I'll be at the Friendly Confines today as we try to sweep the D-Backs. It's definitely worth taking a personal day off work to go to Wrigley Field. Unfortunately, the last 3 times I've seen them play, we've lost. I hope that changes today. Go Cubbies!

You say this every year, and they choke in the playoffs. They certainly have a world series calibre roster though.

I suppose I do say that every year. Certainly didn't help to have former MVP Morneau go out the last half of the season last year but no question to get swept by NY 3-0 was sad. But saying it this year it means more because the roster may be gutted next year so this club is going to throw everything they have at a title this year.

Like I said a page or two back the big question mark again this year is going to be the rotation. Many, many games to go, but if the rotation looks murky approaching the postseason they may have to grab another starter prior to the trade deadline.
