The 2011 MLB Thread

I think Francona decided 8 years in Boston was enough for him. He can chose any job he want's at this point.

At least Ozzie will get a full effort from Hanley Ramirez

I'm not so sure about that. Ozzie is going to have his hands full with Ramirez. Ozzie will do alright with the Marlins. He's more suited to manage in the national league because he likes to play the national league style of baseball. With the Sox he always wanted a team where he could bunt, play hit-and-run, and steal bases. However that style of play wasn't doable in the AL especially with the lineup he put out with the Sox

I think the Phillies are the team to beat this postseason. You just can't beat rock solid pitching, and the Phillies definitely have that. Halladay got off to a rough start today, but he settled down, and the Phillies look like they are going to win easily.

:goodpost:

They came back with a vengeance today. If Carpenter can't gain the split tomorrow, this will be over in short order.

what happened to the Cards today? The Rangers looked like they were going to coast, but the Rays aren't going away either. Betting on a Phils-Yanks World Series.

I'm just happy to see my Pirates make a 15 win improvement and not finish dead last as most predicted. There is hope in Pittsburgh now.

The Tigers got fucked by the rain out. There's no way they beat New York now.
That was my thought. If these premadonna asshole billionaire players weren't pampered like newborns he would have been on the mound tonight. Not saying it was Verlander's fault, but the whole system is a PUSSY system, sorry to say. Yankees suck cock.

with the rain falling before the game even started and the forecast suggesting it wasnt going to get any better, i argue the game friday should never have even started, the fans got screwed the most out of this, we lost the best pitching matchup of the opening games, i certainly was excited for the CC/Verlander match, now it wont happen til monday.

And Verlander will only pitch once, unless he somehow managers to get into game 5. Mother Nature bent the Tigers over and said, "No. I won't allow you to beat the Yankees."

Divine intervention, man.

I agree. I wasn't really expecting too much from them this season.....and admittedly, the 1st half was a bit of a tease, and the longer their run went on, I started to believe, albeit unrealistically, only to be let down in the 2nd half.....but the Pirates have a pretty decent core of young talent, and as they come of age, I believe we can be pretty decent for a few years or more anyway. Unfortunately, the 1st half of the season this year was built upon strong, overachieving, pitching.....and the arms simply couldn't keep it up. But yeah, I see a lot of promise for the future, and that's something they can definitely build on.

But, for better or for worse, I am, and I always will be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan......and that's just how it is. I actually attended the last Pirates home playoff game at Three Rivers Stadium back in '92 (they won, but lost the series down in Atlanta).....and I wasn't even legal yet (couldn't buy beer). I'm looking forward to the day that I get to attend a Pirates home playoff game at PNC Park.....and I get to do it over an ice cold beer (and I don't even drink...ha ha ha!).

My White Sox have hired former White Sox third baseman Robin Ventura as their new manager. All the sportswriters were saying that it was between Dave Martinez and Sandy Alomar so this news came completely out of left field.

What a classic pitching matchup tomorrow night with Halladay going for the Phillies against Carpenter for the Redbirds. Win or lose, I'm very proud of my Cardinals....the most storied and winningest franchise in National League history. Should be a helluva game.
