The 2011 MLB Thread

the way hes pitching not only might he not pitch in the post season, he might be wearing a new uniform next season. Some guys can actually handle the media of New York, AJ isnt one of those guys. Ivan Nova is actually making a case to get many starts in the playoffs.

I want the Rangers if im the Yankees, and than hope the Red Sox take down the Tigers so you dont have to the nasty stuff of Justin Verlander TWICE in a 7 game set.

If the rotation sets up right, you might get Verlander three times in a seven game series.

Both the Rangers and Tigers will be a tough match up for the Yankees. I would probably choose the rangers because they don't have someone like Verlander. But then again, the Rangers did beat the Yankees in the playoffs last year. I hope by the end of the season the angels catch up to the rangers or white sox/indians catch up to the tigers so the yankees road to the playoffs is easier. The reason is if the yankees win in a easy or tough series, they will have to face the red soxs, a team they have struggled to win against this year.

Detroit is going to be a scary playoff opponent for anyone. The playoffs is where pitching shines the most, and the Tigers have a scary starter in Justin Verlander and a solid starter in Rick Porcello. theyre going to need a third guy to win games for them and theyre all set.

Texas has 3 solid starters but none of them have the intimidating pressence Cliff Lee brought last year. They can win in the post season to be sure, they just probly will have to rely more on their offense than last year

3 grand slams?? Dang

i saw the score on my iPod app when the score was 8-2 Oakland, than i lookd a while later and it was 22-8 in favor of the yankees, i thought, what happend here....i looked through the game summary and was just amazed what happend..

Does anybody want to face the Tigers right now? I'd like to see some more consistency at the back end of the rotation. Verlander and Fister are going to be a dangerous 1 and 2 come play-off time.

Heh heh, Fister.

YES Tigers are sending a message. Now lead the Rangers by % points. Moving up on the Red Socks.

They have the 2nd best record in the A.L. behind the yankees

The St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays completed two of the greatest comebacks in baseball history (or the Atlanta Braves and Boston Redsox completed the greatest chokes, depending on your point of view). The last couple of hours of this season have been some of the most intense and exciting moments in baseball that I have seen in quite some time.
Joe Maddon might not only be the best manager in baseball right now, but in my opinion is the most underrated since the Twins had Tom Kelly.

NL set:
D'backs/Brewers- i pick the Brewers in 4
Cardinals/Philles- Phillies sweep

AL:
Tigers/Yankees- Yankees in 5
Rays/Rangers- Rangers in 4

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Damn the last thing the yankees wanted to see was J. Verlander 2 times (if need be) in the 1st round, along with D. Fister and M. Scherzer, and if that isn't enough then they have too deal with that stout A$$ bullpen when the tigers have the lead... I think the Yanks are gonna be 1 and done!! go Tigers!!! :nanner:

lol Boston and Atlanta. Wow. I really thought Boston would win in a tie breaker.

Atlanta may have choked hard, but I think they can chalk this up as a successful season and come whoop some ass next year.

Boston on the other hand. It looks good on you. bahahahahahaha

Now, did these teams blow their load before the big games begin, or are they hot and ready to blow out the Rangers and Phillies?

Tigers over Yankees in 6
Rays over Rangers in 7

Brewers sweep Arizona
Phillies over Cardinals in 5

Rays over Tigers in 6
Phillies over Brewers in 7

Phillies over Rays in 5. Again. Cliff Lee MVP.

1st round is best of 5 games isn't it? and if the Rays and Tigers play, The Tigers have homefield advantage. Tigers will win that series.. IMO. :2 cents:

With Ozzie now gone and from what I've been hearing from GM Kenny Williams, it sounds like its going to be a rebuilding year for my White Sox. I'm hearing that they're high on Davey Martinez and Sandy Alomar for the managerial post.

Different year, same season from the Jays. :dunno:

Nothing more to say about it than that, really. At least I can cry over tapes of our World Series wins while wearing my Joe Carter jersey, so there's that.

I'm cheering for the Brewers this post-season. They've been unstoppable.

As a Tiger fan I would love to see an Arizona/Detroit World Series. That match-up would also have the best storyline in a long time. As far as match-ups go pitching wise, I would love to to see V-Nasty go against either Lee or Halladay. Actually, anybody coming out of the NL would be good story in a Tigers match-up. Prince growing up in the locker room at old Tiger Stadium, the Tigers trying to avenge the loss to St. Louis a few years ago and so on.

A Cards/Rays match-up would also be epic for what both teams had to do just to get into the playoffs.
