Tear down Confederate War Memorials

Tearing down monuments is wrong. Its a part of history.

Lee was offered the command of the Northern Troops first. He said he could not as he had to stay loyal to Virginia and states rights.

I think the conspiracy theorists are right. Liberals/communists are just pulling their little conniptions because they want to act like the petulant little fucking children they are. These statues/monuments weren't the slightest bit of problem - no one hardly ever even thinks of them.

Fucking pitiful. This Country's going down the shitter because of the communist/Bernie Sanders element.

Were these statues erected by Donald Trump? Are these symbols of racism created by Donald Trump? Why dump this situation on him? Schools and buildings are named after Stonewall Jackson and Jefferson Davis. This is not a federal matter. Let the locals do their business to rip them down or stay up. I don't have this fucking problem in Poughkeepsie and I don't give a shit what you do in Chartletsville either. Deal with your own fucking problems.

Yeah, let the locals celebrate the good ol' time when they took arms against the US...

So, you want to make this a federal issue. Okay, set the rules.

Oh, wait... you can't do that. The constitution says something about not infringing on the states rights to regulate their shit.

The madness is spreading to Canada.
Leave the statues but weld a dunce cap on their heads.
History books should be corrected.

I really do think what we're seeing is the tip of the lceberg.

Liberals are being deliberately obtuse about all of this like they usually do. "Oh, the Supreme Court isn't worth voting over - the Supreme Court doesn't make a difference", "we won't allow more than a few thousand non-Europeans into the Country per year", "you can keep your doctor".

They're pathological liars...and this will not end well.

All this ideological BS is a cover for the underlying greed which is the true motivation for all this crap.
Greed has always been and will always be the root of all evil, and as we all know, republicans tend to be more greedy then democrats.
There are countless examples in politics and business. Both sides are guilty, but the right way more so.

Wut?

God damn some of you liberals are so fucking gullible, or stupid, or ignorant, or liars...or all of those things:

what is honored is cultivated, and that which has no honor is neglected

The current movement to dismantle Confederate statues is part of the natural evolution of what is valued in a society. What those values are, and if they are good ones, is another question. What is not questioned is that a society desires and values some things above others, and that steps will be taken to promote them. Is rebellion against Lincoln still to be held dear? Perhaps, perhaps not, but it is inaccurate to say that people wish to erase disappointing history and they seek to promote what they value, a natural, and perhaps inevitable thing.

wasn't the Confederacy never formally recognized by the Union but rather as an insurgency?

so technically, the confederacy war dead were U.S. veterans?

700,000 men died...for what? A cause (slavery, among others) that inevitably would have been abolished without a drop of blood?

Now what do we have in America today? Vast majority of young blacks think whites are pure evil and blame us for everything even though the vast majority of us are descendants of non-slave owning people or people who weren't even on this Continent when slavery was going on. My ancestors didn't even get on this Continent until after 1900.

Everyone KNOWS slavery was evil and no one would argue to hold it up not in a million years...but it would have been abolished in due time. It might have been 10 years after that blasphemous war, it might have been 20 or more, but it would have ended.

You're right on the first count, but no on the second.
They'd have much more likely been designated as traitors, although it's rather a credit to our nation (imo) that in the end (as I recall) only 2 or 3 confederates were executed for war crimes.

whether they equate them with U.S. veterans, what is the theme in both of those laws?

They read to me like measured gestures of reconciliation.

As an aside: Snopes made a rare boo boo in that article, referring to Lincoln's successor as Andrew Jackson rather than Andrew Johnson. Will E will no doubt see this as proof of their generalized gross incompetence lol
