Tear down Confederate War Memorials

as I got older I came to realize everything I was taught or taught myself wasn't exactly the way it was. Not exactly the full truth and in many cases all lies. Add to that the level of bullshit that has been jamming us the last 15 or 20 years and forgetaboutit. The Civil War is a great example of not quite getting the real story. And Slavery in the US in general is very misunderstood and full of disinfo.

The Civil War was about keeping slaves and the superiority of the white race. That's what Confederates and Nazis have in common and why present day white nationalists use the symbols of both. Any other reasons the South decided to secede were periphery, the overriding reason was to keep that free labor and justify why it was ok.

And while I agree that there's a whole lot of misinformation disseminated, and really always has been, countering it with off-base conspiracy theories is just as bad.

How ironic that these alleged vanguards of southern heritage and history have now guaranteed that these monuments will forever be associated with racism and hate. They literally shit in their own mess kits.

Oh, fuck off, the Charger wasn't even the best looking Dodge of it's era, that distinction belongs to the Challenger.

The Challenger was sleeker and more attractive but, even though not specifically a Dodge (it was a Plymouth but a Chrysler cousin nonetheless so what the hell) the '67 GTX was the most bad-ass looking of their muscle cars in my opinion.

I'm in two minds about this. I can sympathize with those who view those memorials and monuments and recoil because of what they stand for, but there's also use in keeping them around to remind us of horrific events in the past and to not let them happen again; concentration camps are a good example. I think most people would never think of suggesting that Auschwitz be torn down and paved over, and I certainly wouldn't. However, I can never equate what I felt when I walked through it with what someone who's descended from a slave might feel looking at Robert E. Lee's statue.

My point is, there's reasons for removing these icons (so to speak) and there's reasons for preserving them; one thing that everyone should be able to agree on is that they should never be a catalyst for violence. They stand to warn us against it, not encourage it.

You're a fucking idiot and it's no surprise that you support another fucking idiot.

If for no other reason so that it's never forgotten. The revisionist bastards that want to portray the Confederacy as the good guys should meet the same fate as Hitler apologists in Germany.

If you fail to remember your own history you are doomed to repeat it.

England was the first country to industrialize, and also one of the first to abolish slavery, because steam powered factories were very profitable and slaves were cutting into the factories profits, that's the main reason slavery was abolished in England.
The reasons for abolishing slavery in America (13th amendment) were similar, and also the true purpose of the 14th amendment was to give corporations the same legal rights as a person. They used the abolishment of slavery and equal rights for all to gain support and cover the greedy evil truth, win-win for evil corporations, loss for everyone else, including the freed slaves to a degree for more than a century...

seen one of these, real beauties. but my aim is they stoped making dukes of hazzard show because of the flag on top of the car? that is bullshit and it violates the rights of some of the people. the problem with liberals is, they are messing with other people's rights and have no tolerance for different thinking. I love dukes of hazzard, bring back the car with that flag on top and enjoy it, if your feelings get hurt, go to army and think about your feelings then.

Yeah, I don't think that's why the stopped making The Dukes of Hazzard. And claiming other people have no tolerance for "different thinking" is a limp-wristed pussy claim, disagreeing with fucked up views isn't "intolerance".

Oh for fuck's sake.

They already are tagged as such by the left and is why the alt-right were protesting their removal.

Don't complain about garbage posts if you are gonna post garbage yourself

It's intolerance if those fucked up views are denied their constitutional right to be expressed.

And spraying someone in the face with hydrochloric acid and possibly blinding them for life is just disagreeing with them. But hey, they're nazis and it's incitement.

Spraying someone in the face with hydrochloric acid is a criminal act, not merely disagreeing with a differing opinion. Not the same thing. And peaceful assembly to spout those fucked up views is certainly constitutionally protected, rioting is not.

I have been privy to a little inside info in the past couple of days. From DOJ attorneys.

The Unite The Right crowd were lead straight to BLM and Antifa protesters in what seems to be an attempt by someone or some people to force a clash.

But continue with your uninformed ranting.

Well, it worked fucking brilliantly, and reinforces my initial assertion that the whole thing was a failure of law enforcement. Thanks for backing up my point even though I know you thought you were doing otherwise.

Law enforcement generally follow the orders of their superiors.

Governors and mayors fall into that category.

If there was upper-level collusion, prosecute the fuck out of them. That doesn't exonerate the criminal acts by the rioters.

There aren't any public monuments to Hitler and I think he still remains a pretty relevant part of history, don't you? Auschwitz is preserved as a memorial to the people who were murdered there, not as a tribute to the monsters who did the murdering. A statue of Robert E. Lee astride his horse serves to honor him. I respect and admire Lee as unquestionably one of the greatest generals who ever lived. However, it needs to be noted that he was also a traitor to the USA and did all he could to protect and perpetuate a culture that enslaved millions of black people. I cannot support maintaining these statues on public grounds or in public places when I realize the message that it sends to present-day African-Americans. Ironically, since these Nazis have chosen to make these monuments a symbol of their hatred and bigotry in the guise of preserving "southern heritage", the statues are therefore henceforth and forever tainted as being associated with their racist beliefs. They literally shit on their own swastikas. No, we cannot let them stand. Put them in a museum to preserve them as reminders of the historical significance that they represent but we absolutely cannot glorify them. They have to go and I believe that they will.
