On Friday, Police said Todd confessed to making the story up. They said she admitted there was no robbery or attacker and said she told them she had prior mental health problems.

"Ashley Todd, who claimed she was attacked and robbed of $60 at an ATM in the Pittsburgh, Bloomfield area Wednesday night when a '6'4, 200-pound black man' mugged her and discovered she was a McCain/Palin supporter.

According to Todd, the man robbed her at knifepoint before noticing the McCain bumper sticker on her car - triggering him to allegedly begin beating Todd with his hands and feet and carving an odd, backwards "B" on her face with his knife."

The first story did not mention the race of her so-called assailant but I was going to say I would give 10 to 1 odds she was claiming it was a black guy.While I won't say this was anyone but her's idea to fabricate this it is not out of step with what I expect to hear more in these last few days of this campaign.Subtle and maybe even some not so subtle appeals to racism by some McCain supporters and even some from possibly McCain and even more likely from his attack girl Palin.

Today, the New York Times endorsed Obama and hinted at McCain's racism-tinged campaign..could this story be the final act of a desperate campaign in the throes?

I voted today. There were 40 people voting and the pollster at the place stated that they have been getting 800 people a day since early voting began.

Could there be a forthcoming tsunami of rejection angled toward the Pubs this Nov?

You want to talk about one-sided journalism? Look at that blog!!! It is a 100% Obama-bashing smear campaign. Once again, they even took down the story about that girl getting mugged, which they originated, because it would bring negative attention to McCain/Palin.

If you would've paid attention to what the mainstream media said about this story when it originated, they made it look BAD for Obama, not the other way around. When this story was believed to be real, the media used words like "MAIMED" and "MUTILATED" when they talked about what the so-called Obama supporter did to this girl's face. They blatantly made it a point to say that the attacker "brutally punched and kicked" this girl because he was an Obama supporter who didn't agree with this girl's support for McCain/Palin. How is that making Barack Obama look good again? :dunno:

I come from a place that people from different parties will slice each other with machettes. It does not surprise me if things worse than these might happen as we get closer to this much contested electoral campaign. Despite your strong language, I disagree. There is plenty of gray in analyzing violent actions of candidate's supporters. If McCain and Palin are trying to paint Obama as essentially a terrorist or, at the least, a terrorist supporter, and saying that he will bring down America with his socialist policies (it's called red-baiting), etc., etc., and he and Palin do little to calm rally attendees who cry out "Kill him!" and "Off with his head!" during the rally (it's easily audible), then that lends some tacit support to those who are going to "patriotically" attempt to tackle the problem and work to eliminate the threat, be it by targeting Obama, targeting Obama supporters, targeting liberals generally, or even executing bizarre plans to make Obama and his supporters look like violent street thugs.

If you keep crying out (in essence) "Who will save our country from this secretive man of strange background who is "pals" with terrorists?" then is it REALLY a surprise if people get violent?
