Four killed by moped-riding 'neo-Nazi' outside Jewish school in Toulouse, France

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
France has STRICT gun control laws....yet, a CRIMINAL, or CRIMINALS got their hands on guns, and committed a crime. Seems to me, once again, the only people that laws effect, are the law abiding, and it wouldn't really matter what the laws say, because the criminals did just that...THEY COMMITTED A CRIME! If this Rabbi, and his 2 sons, and the head master, and his little daughter were all packing serious firepower, this would have still happened, because the people that did this have no regard for the law, and obviously, the law didn't protect them. In fact, I stand corrected, if they were all packing, maybe it wouldn't have happened, because the scumbags doing the killing would know they weren't leading lambs to slaughter, but going toe to toe with an equal.

'There's a monster on the loose': Sarkozy's warning as it's revealed Toulouse serial killer could have filmed horrific murders using camera recommended by Breivik

* 7 now dead as police hunt assassin with right-wing connections
* Killer 'had video camera around his neck' as he pulled up and opened fire
* Could have taken 'inspiration from Anders Behring Breivik'
* Father and his two sons, and another girl, killed outside Jewish school
* Three French paratroopers murdered last week, another still critical

who let this idiot back on here?
You completely miss the point. Blaming guns is akin to blaming the scooter, the helmet, the time of day, the location, etc, etc.

Example: Is the spoon and fork to be blamed when someone becomes fat? Or is it the person themselves that are responsible?

Why on earth is this thread now about gun control, someone who wants to kill will get a gun whether illegal or not and I doubt the Rabbi and his kids would be walking around armed to the teeth even if the French govt allowed them to carry guns. This murderer attacks suddenly on a bike without warning and the whole thing is over in seconds, even if you were legally armed you would always come up second best against this guy unless you have prior knowledge that you're going to be targetted.

YOU completely miss the point : guns are DESIGNED to kill.
If a heavy-smoker got a lung cancer or a throat cancer. You can't blame matches or lighters. But cigarettes are to be blamed.

Drugs are banned 'cause they are dangerous for health. In a very specific conditions, they can be used for medicinal purpose but only doctors (or nurses) are allowed to use them and they do so under very strict regulations.
Should be the same for guns : guns are dangerous for health. Only very specific persons should be allowed to carry guns (cops, militaries, etc...) and they should be allowed to do so under very strict regulations.

Three soldiers posing with a Nazi flag. One of them is suspected of being responsible for the death of three children and a teacher in Toulouse, France

Solidarity: Members of France's Jewish community demonstrated and lit candles on Place de la Bastille during a silent tribute march to the victims of the Toulouse school shooting

Victim: Paratrooper Imad Ibn Ziaten (left and right) who was killed last week in the Toulouse area

Damn, is THIS in the newspapers in the States???
That not by far what we read in the French and Belgian newspapers.
No one ever said this attack had to do with "neo-nazi's" or extreme right.
How could they? They don't have a clue who the attacker is.
The only clue they have is that he/she only killed Jews and muslims.

You've been reading wrong papers, the hypothesis of a far-right fanatic (and probably former military) has been raised yesterday, since the victims are maghrebis, antilleses and jews...

Sometimes the media in the country where the attacks take place try not to speculate on the motives of the killers so as not to cause a mass panic, eventhough behind closed doors the police and govt have a good idea what the motives are and who may be responsible. If the French/Belgium papers had massive headlines saying neo-Nazi killer who targets Jews, Africans and North Africans etc is on the loose there would be mass panic from those communities and the situation could spiral out of control. What surprises me is that this guy is still on the loose considering the amount of CCTV everywhere, forensic clues and all vehicle/motorbikes being legally registered etc. The police should be closing in on him at the very least.

France fears Jewish school gunman could strike again

(Reuters) - French police stepped up the search on Tuesday for a gunman who apparently filmed the scene as he shot dead three children and a rabbi at point-blank range in a Jewish school, warning that he had already killed twice last week and could strike again soon.

Authorities believe the scooter-riding gunman is a methodical, trained marksman with "extremist" views who was also responsible for last week's fatal shootings of three soldiers of North African origin.

France's President Nicolas Sarkozy has said racism appeared to be the motivation for Monday's school attack, which came just five weeks before the first round of the presidential election.

Immigrants and Islam have been major themes of the campaign as Sarkozy tries to win over the voters of far-right leader Marine Le Pen. Analysts say the shootings could transform the election debate and possibly tone down populist rhetoric.

"This is someone who has killed every four days, who is extremely organised, who has a high-calibre weapon," Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins told a news conference.

"We're up against an extremely determined individual, who knows he's being hunted and could strike again."

Molins said the shooter wounded Rabbi Jonathan Sandler as he entered the Ozar Hatorah school, where he cornered eight-year-old Myriam Monsonego and shot her in the head. He then returned outside and shot Sandler and his two children, who had rushed to his side, at point blank range.

France is home to the largest Jewish and Muslim communities in Europe and has a history of attacks on both groups, but Monday's shooting was the most deadly anti-Semitic attack on French soil in nearly 30 years.

The police tightened security at religious sites, raising the terror alert in the southern town to the highest level of 'scarlet' for the first time ever in France, and talked to gun clubs in an effort to track down the killer.

"We will track down this monster," said Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, who was due to fly to Israel with the bodies of the four Jewish victims for their burial on Wednesday. "We will find him, bring him to justice and punish him."

The gunman is also the prime suspect in the killing of three paratroopers in two separate shootings last week in Toulouse and the nearby town of Montauban. A fourth soldier of Caribbean origin was in coma after Thursday's shooting in Montauban.

In each attack, the gunman arrived on a Yamaha scooter and used the same Colt 45 handgun. His face was hidden by a motorcycle helmet during the attacks.

Interior Minister Claude Gueant said the gunman wore a "GoPro" camera around the neck on Monday - a type often used by extreme sports enthusiasts to record their exploits.

"This shows a profile of the murderer as someone who is very cold, very determined, with precise gestures, and therefore very cruel," Gueant said.

Anti-Islamist Anders Behring Breivik, who massacred 69 people in Norway last summer, recommended in a manifesto he posted on the Internet that aspiring mass murderers use the camera "to document your operation".

Police excluded any link to three former soldiers expelled from the 17th parachute regiment in Montauban in 2008 for neo-Nazi activities.

"GETTING READY FOR PRAYERS"

An overnight vigil was held at the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school in Toulouse, a five-storey brick building in a leafy residential neighbourhood, where residents and parents left floral tributes and candles in memory of the victims.

Mourners said Sandler's widow, Eva, delivered a heart-rending speech, accompanied by her surviving daughter.

"It was very difficult and painful to see the little coffins. We are in shock," said Arie Bensemhoun, spokesman for the Jewish community in Toulouse. "But we know we are sharing this grief with all our citizens and perhaps something good will come from this for the country. The time has come for healing."

Hearses carrying the bodies of the four victims, who hold dual French-Israeli nationality, were surrounded by sobbing children in prayer caps as they left the school to be transported to Paris. From there, they will be flown to Israel for burial on Wednesday morning, accompanied by Juppe, who was due to voice France's determination to catch their killer.

One girl who survived the attack spoke of her sheer terror as the shots rang out through the school.

"The headmaster was shouting there had been a shooting and they put us all together in a big room," the girl, accompanied by her mother, told Reuters. "I didn't see anything but I heard the shots. It was terrifying. I thought he was coming for us."

Schools all over France observed a minute of silence.

"This has happened in Toulouse, in a religious school with children from Jewish families, but it could have happened here. The same killer could have come here, these children are exactly like you," Sarkozy said, attending the silent vigil in a Paris secondary school.

RACIAL TENSION

France's Jewish umbrella group Crif, which is organising a remembrance march for the victims in Paris on Sunday, welcomed the decision to suspend election campaigning until Wednesday when political leaders of all colours were due to attend a burial ceremony for the soldiers in Montauban.

Analysts said the killings would change the election debate.

"The tone of the campaign cannot go back to what it was," said Dominique Reynie, head of Fondapol politics institute.

"The campaign was dominated by an aggressive tone and a strong degree of populist rhetoric. This rhetoric will cease because there will be voter demand for healing."

France's far-right leader Marine Le Pen is running third in the race for the presidency and this has helped to draw issues of race and immigration into the election campaign.

The centre-right Sarkozy has tried to attract her voters with a pledge to halve immigration and criticism of halal slaughter as he lags Socialist Francois Hollande in voting intentions polls.

Some analysts said there would be a discussion about whether Sarkozy has stirred feelings that led to the attack.

"There will be more debate, notably on whether the tension created in society by Nicolas Sarkozy and the UMP (ruling party) has not somehow provoked or facilitated this type of violence," said L'Express magazine editor-in-chief Christophe Barbier.

Juppe said the campaign could not have triggered the shooting.

"Anti-Semitism exists in France, we have fought it for years," he said.

"Nobody should try to benefit in any way from this drama, which is in no way linked to the electoral campaign."

My main point was, how it was possible that the American newspapers had more information then the French newspapers, while they are based in the country where to attacks took place? And in my opinion, the American newspapers see a story and make it bigger then it actually is/was. Just to show people how wrong extreme right winged people are, while in my humble opinion extreme left winged peopple are at least as bad. But that doesn't go in the re-election of Obama, so they make the story much bigger then it actually is.
Did you see newslines like this about the bus crash in Switzerland, day after day? Because that disaster wasn't politically interesting, but there were 24 12 year old children killed.
Now some Jewish children were killed and the papers overreact, as does the French government. If these weren't Jewish kids, these high alerts were never maid.... Oh politicians, hypocrits, and it'll never change!

Some American and British tabloids tend to dramatize things, I guess to help improve sales. They may know just as much as the French media but they will speculate more to make a bigger story. Anti-semitic attacks often get more publicity than attacks on other ethnic minorities, you could argue they recieved more attention in this case because 3 children were killed but bear in mind there is always strong Jewish influence in both Govt and Media (fact not fiction) so attacks on Jews will receive more widespread coverage. In an ideal world the bus crash children would have received the more media attention but the papers love a cold blooded hate filled murderer as it's guaranteed to sell papers and will be 'news' for many many months meaning more stories are guaranteed.

Guns.... Save lives. It's a fact!

While a 21-year-old store clerk was working his shift at Balwi Food Market one afternoon, 31-year-old Urban Anderson entered the store wearing a ski mask and wielding a knife. When Anderson began swinging the knife, the store employee was quick to grab the rifle kept behind the counter for protection. The employee forced Anderson to the ground and kept him there until police arrived. Anderson was then arrested and charged with attempted robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The employee suffered cuts to his arms and was treated at a local hospital. (The Post-Standard, Syracuse, NY, 1/07/12)
Christopher Oster, 28, and John Shanks III, 29, broke into the home of a resident said to have been involved in a break-up and alleged domestic dispute with Oster’s sister, police said. With their identities concealed and an apparent intent to assault the tenant, they forced their way into the home. Inside, they were met by a citizen armed with a .22-cal. handgun. Shanks was shot once in the chest. Oster attempted to drag Shanks out of the home, but fled when he was confronted by the armed resident. Shanks’ wound was fatal and Oster was later arrested and charged with first-degree burglary. (Enterprise Record, Chico, CA, 12/22/12)

Suspected of committing a string of robberies, Martel Harris, 21, returned to the apartment complex where he allegedly had stolen a vehicle from the parking lot earlier that same day. When he attempted to rob a 54-year-old man at gunpoint, the man produced a firearm of his own and fired several shots. Police were notified when Harris turned up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. After being treated, he was arrested and charged with robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, the use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The stolen vehicle was recovered and the robbery victim was not injured. (Daily Press, Newport News, VA, 12/22/12)

Homeowner Andrew Wharmby, 27, became suspicious when he heard loud banging on his front door at almost 5 a.m. Before answering the door, he took precautions and grabbed his shotgun. He discovered two men in his home when he followed the continued noise into the garage. Wharmby fired shots at the men and at least one of the two intruders returned fire striking Wharmby in the face. One suspect suffered fatal injuries while the second suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was then arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. Wharmby was also taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition. (San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio, TX, 1/12/12)
A husband and wife were awakened when suddenly attacked by a man with an unlit tiki torch he had found in their backyard. Seemingly under the influence of narcotics and wearing only underwear, socks and a bandana around his neck, 28-year-old Matthew Zamora had broken into the home through the back door and used the torch to hit the male resident. The husband grabbed a handgun, but the intruder swung the torch again knocking it from the homeowner’s hand. The homeowner’s wife retrieved a shotgun and ordered the intruder to leave their home. Without hesitation, Zamora ran into the bathroom, climbed out the window and fled. He was later arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, providing false information to police, menacing, criminal mischief as well as an unrelated felony warrant. (KPTV, Aloha, OR, 12/26/12)

The owner of the Quick Time Liquor Market fought back when Armand Isaac, 21, and Leonard Higgins Jr., 20, entered the store and attempted an armed robbery. As the store owner and Higgins struggled, Isaac fired a shot at the owner barely missing his head. The owner then grabbed a pistol and shot Higgins twice, causing the men to quickly flee. Both men were later arrested at a local hospital as they sought medical treatment for Higgins’ gunshot wounds. (The Telegraph, Alton, IL, 1/07/12)
A resident awoke to a man banging on the door demanding entry at 1 a.m. Home alone at the time, the 71-year-old homeowner refused to open the door and called police. When the stranger, 23-year-old Shane Blackburn, began to kick down the door, the resident retrieved his handgun. Blackburn was shot once in the shoulder and fled. He was later located at a local hospital and arrested after being treated for his injuries. (The Ranger, Fremont County, WY, 1/05/12)

French shooter expected to surrender

TOULOUSE, France (AP) — The French interior minister says a suspect in three deadly attacks has thrown his handgun out a window but has other weapons on him and has used them in volleys with police surrounding a building in this southwestern city.

Claude Gueant said Wednesday the 24-year-old suspect, who is surrounded by police in the building and claiming links to al-Qaida, is talking to a police negotiator and says he'll surrender in the afternoon. The minister says police want to take him alive.

Gueant says the suspect has an AK47 machine gun and other weapons.

Hundreds of policemen swept into a residential neighborhood in northern Toulouse early Wednesday and exchanged fire with the suspect.

Three policemen were wounded in the operation, which is still ongoing, Gueant said. The suspect's brother was arrested.

The man was known to authorities for having spent time in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Gueant said.

The shooting suspect, who is a French national, is "talking a lot, claiming his jihadist convictions" and calling himself a "mujahedeen."

"He said he wants to avenge the deaths of Palestinians," the minister said, adding that he is "less explicit" about killing French paratroopers.

Authorities have been conducting a massive manhunt across a swath of southern France after seven people were killed in three attacks over the past several days, and France's terror alert level was raised to its highest level ever in the region.

A French paratrooper was killed in Toulouse on March 11, two other paratroopers were killed and one injured on Thursday in the nearby town of Montauban, and three children and a rabbi were killed in a shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse on Monday.

The paratroopers were of Muslim and French Caribbean origin, but the interior minister said the suspect told them the ethnic origin has nothing to do with his actions. "He's after the army."

"The conversation he has with a police officer follows a request he made to have a means of communication with the police," Gueant said. "This means of communication he gave in exchange for a Colt 45 that he threw out the window."

The minister did not say how the communication was taking place.

HOW DID FRENCH POLICE TRACK THE SUSPECT DOWN?

The alleged killer was traced through his brother's computer's IP address after using it to set up a meeting with his first alleged victim, Imad Ibn Ziaten.

The 30-year-old parachutist was in plain clothes and standing by his motorbike when he was gunned down on Sunday, March 11.

'Killer and victim had exchanged emails, with the killer using a false account,' said an investigating source.

Police were also able to trace the gunman through his own bike - a Yamaha T-Max 530 scooter.

They found out where it had been sold, and learnt that the killer had asked how to underdo the tracking system of the vehicle - meaning it could not be traced.

There had also been attempts by the killer to disguise the bike by changing the colour and altering distinctive features.

The suspect was known to the DCRI intelligence unit (Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence).

He was known to have made trips to Afghanistan and Pakistan in the past, and have connections who believe in Salafism and Jihadism.

He had also been arrested in Afghanistan before.

Or they've been given the wrong answers by the police in order not to alert the killer that they were surrounding him...

Makes sense, anyone who makes trips to Afghanistan should be closely monitored when they get back, nothing good comes out of there although you'd think Nato could have monitored him over there considering we have so many troops in Afghanistan.

ROTFLMAO !
Everyday, 80 US citizens die from gun violence.

Which translates into 29,200 per year.

Alcohol related deaths in the U.S. account for 75,000 deaths per year.

Do you or any of your friends and or family drink????

Having just 1 beer won't make you drunk enough to kill someone. But a single bullet can be lethal.
The difference between alcohol and guns is that guns are dangerous under any circumstances. Alcohol is dangerous under specific circumstances (drunk driving, drinking more than you should...)

Also, many of those who dies because of alcohol die because they've been drinking too much. They pay the price of something they did to themselves.
Unless your fucking clumsy or deeply stupid, you're not the one who's gonna be killed because of your gun...

Sam Fisher said:
Actually, violence is higher in other countries more so than the United States.
other countries in which there's no gun-control, I guess...

Anyway,

Crime rate per 100.000 inhabitants in 2009 :
USA : 4.80
France : 1.09

This is the kind of statistics that makes me believe that have strong gun-control is safer.
