OMG! People on this thread need to get real. Pavel Datsyuk is a GREAT player. He is the best defensive forward in the league and is the best takeaway artist in the league. He is a very good scorer and has some sick dangles...

BUT SIDNEY CROSBY IS BY FAR THE BEST HOCKEY PLAYER IN THE WORLD. To say anything different is asinine. People on this thread have been trying to say that Datsyuk is the best all-around because he's so good defensively. Hello people? Sidney Crosby is a top-five defensive forward too. Do you people even watch hockey? Get real. Anyone who knows dick all about hockey knows that Crosby is unquestionably the best player in the world right now. It's like people are trying to say that he only has offensive skills. If that's what you think then you don't know what you're talking about. Not only is he the best scorer, he's the best all-around player too.

And believe me, I am all about all-around players. In my opinion, the league's five best players are Crosby, Datsyuk, Ryan Kesler, Jonathan Toews, and Henrik Zetterberg. See the trend here? Two-way players.

as of right now, both Gagne and Kubina are listed as "Day to day with one of them feeling better than the other". that's all the info Tampa have given.

neither are expected to play tomorrow and Gagne probably won't return at all.

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Czech Republic defenceman Radek Martinek was taken to hospital with a spine injury and concussion after he was hit in the head during a 4-2 win over Latvia at the world ice hockey championship on Saturday.

Martinek, who plays for the New York Islanders, was carried off on a stretcher and taken to a Bratislava hospital.

Team doctor Radomir Holibka told Czech public television that Martinek was in a stabilized condition but due to the nature of his injuries it was unlikely he would continue in the tournament.

Martinek was hit by Latvia defenceman Arturs Kulda at 14:40 in the first period. Kulda was penalized.

Yeah, but it just would've been so, so much sweeter had the Hawks won. Imagine. Well, I can't say anything much more on it, since they did unload my boy Byfuglien in the offseason (considering he lead EVERYONE in scores last playoffs, IDK WTF that was). I will say I had to hear my dad say today he "hopes a Canadian team [i.e. Vancouver] wins the cup for a change." Whatever. Like I said, I never had a horse in this race and the Bulldogs won the NCAA anyway last month, so I'm good even though it's bordering on blasphemy considering I'm a Husky.

crosby would have had a 100 point season this. plus other years were he had 100. pretty sure malkin has had 1. zetterberg and datsyuk im pretty sure have not. i was just saying crosby and malkin are more valuable to their team then zetterberg and datsyuk.

dont get it twisted i wasnt saying zetterberg or datsyuk arent top players. just a notch under crosby and malkin. maybe more then a notch under crosby.

i really dont like crosby but cant deny his status of the top player in the nhl.

Datsyuk had a 97 and Zetterberg a 92, pretty close. They are the two best followed by Franzen our team. Again I would not trade, they work for our system as does your two for yours.

You're kidding yourself if you think Detroit wouldn't trade Datsyuk or Zetterberg or both for Crosby. And he'll never be a Wing, not because he 'doesn't have class' but because Pitt will never get rid of the best player on the planet.

It makes me laugh when Wings fans try to use the 'well Datsyuk and Zetterberg are better two way players, so they're better overall' argument. I'm a Wings fan, and I love having those guys on my team, but Crosby is lightyears beyond their game. It's not just about offense, (he was on pace for 60 goals and 120 points this year) he's good on the faceoff, forechecking, powerplay (look at Pitt's PP since he went out), penalty kill. He has all the intangibles. Unquestionable leadership. His vision is unparralleled. He raises the level of play of his teammates. Even on team Canada, full of superstars, it's Crosby who gets the most out of everybody and when things are rough he puts the team on his back. He's unstoppable. Anybody remember Spezza trying to chase Crosby down behind the net? Classic.

Some of y'all need to leave your bias elsewhere and give credit where credit is due. Crosby is a once a generation player. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are very good players, but let's be realistic here.

2 top 5 players for another 1 ranked? He is not as tough as Zetterberg and Datsyuk does have his puck handling skills. Crosby is the love of the league, poster boy and a great player never doubt that and he might prove to be one of the best. All are judged by number of cups and he has one.

I only saw third period and overtime and it was all San Jose. San Jose had almost twice as many shots as Detroit (46-25). Judging by what I saw - San Jose really deserved to win.

That 4 minute penalty was the clincher! ouch! I only caught the last 15 minutes of the game. San Jose played it well!

I'm not sure about this game. Again, Canuckers look like the stronger team but Rinne and "the ugliest jerseys in history" are in this. I hope "the ugliest jerseys in history" win, just because I missed the other games.

Rinne has kept them in this - single-handedly.

detroit is a great and should beat pittsburg with both roster fully healthy.

crosby is a better overall player is all im saying.

I didn't watch the whole game.. I started watching the game @ 3:56 of the 1st OT so I saw 16 + minutes of the 1st OT and all of the 2nd OT.. WOW Rinne is BadA$$ some of those saves were fuckin SICK!! :eyeso:

I am glad the PREDS won.. With that said, from what I saw of the game, I wish that REFing crew would scoot down the coast and REF the Red Wings / Sharks games.. Those Refs didn't call any BS penalties IMO.. just the obvious ones.. :2 cents:

ofcourse you'd like refs you watch in a game that doesnt involve your team. they wont be calling against your team.

detroits gets battered with bad calls because of their past.

glad nashville won. been a thing for awhile now... watching the canucks choke when the games mean something.

alot of their reg season wins come from teams like calgary and edmonton. they atleast one of those teams 8 times and atleast 4 against the other.
