Care to elaborate? :dunno:

Those are two franchises where a young QB has no shot of ever succeeding. They will never be able to properly develop them, theres a reason the Browns have run through 20 QB's in 15 years.

I follow. If either franchise had the coaching or management restraint to allow these guys to develop rather than throwing them to the wolves right away, maybe there could be a better result. Everybody likes to make fun of Blaine Gabbert, but he is a perfect example of the scenario you describe. I hope for their sake this time it is different.

You have a point. If he had gone somewhere like the Cowboys he would've sat a year or two behind Romo.

Manziel will be starting sometime this season if not week 1.

I hope he succeeds in Cleveland. That kid was hella fun to watch on saturdays.

Fuck, I just called someone in their 20's a "kid."

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying no QB can succeed with those franchises but it has to be a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck type prodigy, a QB who single handedly makes everyone around him better. Manziel and Bortles are not those kind of QB's.

Many of these teams that draft a QB as a savior, have HORRIBLE offensive lines & are almost always playing from behind. That doesn't equal success very often. Peyton Manning led the league in picks his rookie year & got sacked a lot. Most young QB's would/would've wilted & their careers would've peaked at the draft.

As a 49ers fan, I count Stevie Johnson as part of the 49ers draft. That, plus all the depth picks makes it a good draft. But good enough to get over the top? I don't think so.

Need a new RB or safety/CB help not another receiver that will be under used by your WR that plays QB for ya.

Yes! It's hell getting old.

unless the 49ers get lucky with Ellington, they still desperately need a field stretching WR and that's what will keep them from passing Seattle

The strength of the Seahawks team is pass coverage only the very best passing QB's can complete consultant passes against them. Kappernick throwing against that D is just playing into their hands regardless of who is receiving as he makes I'll advised throws and turns the ball over repeatedly he can only throw against lesser pass coverage.

The moves they've made will keep them at the top. They're a great defensive play and a dropped pass from being two time defending champs. You don't break the bank and throw away your draft picks for the shot at winning one year. SF is set up long term. They have as good a shot as any team to win it all the past 3 years and the forseeable future. They got replacements for Iupati and Crabtree who will both probably walk next year. The highest rated center in the draft and highest rated FB in the draft. Stevie Johnson was about this year while the draft was about maintaining a high level of play for the future. Now hopefully our shitbag OC can open the offense up a bit.

Zeeblo, they drafted the highest rated RB and got a ballhawk safety in the first two rounds. Culliver will be back and we added Bethea. Not to mention the LB and DB depth they added later in the draft. And we still have Lattimore and Hunter. LMJ will probably be cut. RB and S are definitely not a need for this team.

i still say they are 2nd best team in their division. but they will be a play-off team for several more years. they could afford to trade pics to move up and get a speed WR they just chose to draft players in positions they had no need

After all it's the NFL and every team good or bad is subject to the injury bug. But on paper the 3 best teams in the NFL player for player May reside in the NFC West with St Louis getting closer every second.
The 'best' RB prospect this year was a back up at best.

Not to mention the way the league has changed and the way the RB position's importance has been marginalized, and decent ones are plentiful and cheep, I don't know how big of a deal getting the best RB really is short of picking up that person in the 4th or 5th round or later. Just about any decent RB for a long time to come, and maybe from now on, will be more of a practical WR that can block alright out of the backfield than the conventional ones that have existed for most of the leagues history. Getting the best RB in the draft might have been a big deal in the mid 80s. Now, not so much.

I never thought I would say it but I'm getting pretty close to being done with the NFL, after the last few years its apparent that the league is rigged more than ever, it was a joke how obvious it was, they aren't even trying to hide it anymore. This league will be shit soon.
