Also, if the NFL wants to expand the appeal overseas why don't they have at least one of the premier teams (Patriots, Packers, Seahawks) playing in London?

Instead, they have to suffer through the Jets vs. Dolphins, Bills vs. Jaguars and Lions vs. Chiefs (semi-intriguing I guess).

How about we just send all the NFL teams overseas? The entire idea is completely asinine to me. Let's keep American football here in the U.S. The NFL doesn't need to ship it's product overseas.

I seriously don't think the NFL will ever send a team full time to England. It doesn't make any sense. Think of the logistics. What happens the year that team has to play one of the West divisions? Going from London all the way to California and vice versa, that shit takes a lot out of you. They could make the schedule such that the London team has a lot of away games in a row and then a lot of home games in a row but that would be an unfair advantage.

And think of the playoffs. There could be a scenario where the London team plays week 17 in San Diego, week 1 of the playoffs in London, week 2 of the playoffs in Oakland (thinking of the future, obviously), and the Championship Game back in London. That's a shitload of traveling.

I don't see it happening.

The Airbus Concorde Mark 2 - London to New York in 1 hour.

The NFL has been selling out it's London games for years. There's obviously a market for it. It's intriguing.

How much of a market is it for a team that sucks? Eight times a year? It would either be an expansion team or a team that can't draw fans in the U.S. because they suck. After the novelty wears off nobody will care and you just have Jacksonville all over again. You wouldn't be able to move them and go back to getting 2 or 3 sell outs for "special events".

They've only filed a patent. Haven't even started building a prototype. Maybe we'll see it in 20 years.

That's not the only thing in the works. And an NFL team overseas is still years out.

The University of Hawaii football program has to fly to the mainland and even farther in for it's 6 away games per season. It's doable. The NFL is pushing for it and there's a market for it. It's inevitable, it's just a matter of when.

Ok I admit it, I just want to see a New England Patriots vs. London Redcoats AFC East division rivalry. How cool would that be?

From what I read, that particular plane would only carry up to 20 people or 2 or 3 tons of cargo. That is way less than the entire amount of players, coaches and personnel in general AND equipment that would need to be transported. Probably 4 or 5 of those planes would be needed just for ONE team's trip. Sounds very expensive.

Definitely a Plan B would be needed.

George Osborne wants to have an NFL franchise based permanently in London within the next five years to confirm the city’s status as the “sporting capital of the world”.

The chancellor met with NFL executives, team owners and former players at Downing Street as the Miami Dolphins prepared to face the New York Jets at Wembley stadium on Sunday.

Osborne said he would “love to have a team here based in the UK playing in the NFL” and he believed Britain was making steps towards that goal. “The real prize, the real touchdown for London, would be to get a team based here,” he said.

When asked about the potential timeframe for such a move, Osborne said: “Hopefully it is something we could achieve in the next few years, maybe four or five years’ time. These things can’t change overnight because obviously teams are already based in some home cities in the States. But I am in talks with the NFL, sorting out the arrangements.

“They get such a huge welcome, teams like the Dolphins and the Jets when they come here, there is a big fanbase here and it would mean a huge amount for our economy because it would confirm London as the sporting capital of the world – and that is what I want to see.”

I would be in favor of secretly moving the Detroit Lions to London in the middle of the night, using Mayflower trucks and really quiet boats donated by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Really think it will be Jacksonville. The marketing practically writes itself.

The Jaguars are bad but I think the Chiefs have the worst ownership in the NFL with the Hunt family. No first round QB's since 1983? Why don't you just tell your fans that you don't give a fuck? lol

I feel like I've gone back in time to last year.

Look I want it to be Packers/Pats. I admit that Tom Brady is 10 times better than Manning but the problem is the NFL loves fivehead more than Brady, no matter what Tom does, the world loves Papa John. All they see is Denver and Manning no matter how many SB's anybody else wins.

You have to admit that creating some nonsensical and unbelievable way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is classic Lions football.

San Diego always seems to lose games they shouldn't just as they did on Monday night against Pittsburgh. Disappointing!
