He'll be a free agent after this season and I really wonder what the market will be. He's missing a playoff game because of his shenanigans. He's a great talent but if he can't be relied upon to not do stupid shit like this, why bother?

If it was me I wouldn't deal with a headcase like him no matter how skilled, but he will get a huge payday from somebody this offseason. One thing you can be sure off is that outside of somebody doing something so serious they are actually in prison out of 32 teams there will always be at least somebody that tries to roll the dice on people like Suh. All it takes is just one team that think they can turn the person around or thinks the potential talent is worth all the headaches the person brings.

It's all about symbolism with the NFL.

Next year, if whatever team Suh is on plays the Packers, the O-line should chop block him, then claim they didn't realize that two guys were blocking him. Too bad about his knee, but accidents do happen.

Or he should sign with the Packers, so he can get away with playing rough football. I'm so sick and tired of him being vilified and hated for playing a style of football that was praised and encouraged 30 years ago. I like how the Lions go out there and don't really seem to give a damn about having some corporate, family-friendly image. They're a rough, nasty team and I'll be rooting for them as long as they're in the playoffs.

And not to sound like a hater, but I'm getting sick of Aaron Rodgers being shoved down everyone's throats by the sports media in this country. Troy Aikman drooling over him the entire game made me sick (though Troy Aikman drooling over people is becoming a weekly thing at this point). I know it's not just Rodgers they do this with, but he's not the first QB to lead his team to a victory while limping around.

If the stepping on Rodgers with the first foot was the offense, I can see it being ignored. Suh deliberately went back with the other foot, put his weight on it. Douche move.

As far as "old school football" is concerned, I say BULLSHIT! The "rough and tumble" days of a Raiders, the Steelers, the Bears, etc., were when the game was three yards and a cloud of dust. And, the Steelers and Raiders had a lot of players on steroids. If Suh's cheap shots are welcome, let's bring back the Deacon Jones head slap. Oh, and while we are at it, ask the Stingley family how cheap shots work out.

I thought it was bush league that the Steelers' Mike Tomlin addressed the Bengal who hit his running back low. Anyone remember when Carson Palmer got hurt the first time? Cheap shot by a Steeler lineman. The only way the Steelers were going to win that playoff game was to take Palmer out. the Steelers have been a low-class organization for decades. I know the Rooneys are the NFL darlings, but they have been steroid-users and cheap shot artists for years.

Detroit isn't tough. Some players on the team just like acting tough. Thugish would be a more appropriate term. Being tough doesn't mean one has to be stupid or lack discipline. Intentionally doing things that do nothing but hurt your team to act macho or be a jerk isn't the kind of toughness even most of the players of years gone by would be proud off.

Every team in every sport has had players on steroids. It wasn't as well-known in decades past just how bad they are for you as it is today. And people like to claim that it was a "cheap shot" that sidelined Brady for a season, when it was a completely clean and legal hit (at the time). And what's this deal about the Steelers being "low class"? The last time I checked, this was professional football, not ballet.

I see your point. I have heard Howie Long on a number of occasions defend Suh, and say that his play reminded him of his own era. And in all fairness, being the #2 defense in the league doesn't happen just from 'acting' tough and thuggish.

There was a time in the very beginning of his career where Suh was unfairly penalized on a lot of borderline calls or calls that technically shouldn't of been called but where because he can be so strong and forceful they looked bad in real time. The push in the back of Cutler comes to mind as one that I think shouldn't have been called or penalized after the game. I can see where players that played in a rougher ere would be okay with that. Suh didn't stop there though. After he started blatantly attacking people and doing the stomping he went into thugery territory. I don't see Howie Long remotely defending things like that. There also isn't any justification for it in any era. That's not playing tough and going all out where it helps the team. Actions like that can do nothing but hurt a team's chances of winning, and it's not just that person. It's pretty selfish to hurt fifty three people plus the coaching staff, plus everybody else in the organization because a couple people get angry enough they can't control their actions of the field.

You are right they didn't get to be a good defense by acting thuggish. They got that way because a lot of people on the defense, especially the line, are very good players. I'm sure it's a matchup nightmare for all the teams they play to try and account for them all. That's part of the point also. They are good players. They don't need to act that way to be good. It's not like their defense is going to play any worse if they stop stomping on people or stop committing unnecessary personal fowls. Somebody stopping acting like a jerk is also not going to make somebody soft in all the other aspects of the game. There have been a lot of good players who were decent people on and off the field that were still brutal (while staying within the rules) to play against.

The Arizona/Carolina game might be one of the worst playoff games ever. It had a team that didn't even have a winning record and another that not only isn't nearly as good as it's record and not only is trailing off at the end of the season, but it's doing while one it's third or fourth string quarterback or whatever they are down to now. The game played out how a person would expect given those circumstances.

Jesus man! I will take the opinion of Ray Lewis and not some message board contrarian (that is pretty much your schtick). Did you even watch the game? They (Panthers) allowed the fewest yards in the history of the NFL playoffs. Yes the Cardinals were down to their 3rd string QB but with the play makers that Arizona have they should have been able to muster more than 77 yards with Palmer's jock strap taking snaps. I am not ready to say that Carolina will win the NFC but they have really found chemistry and fought through countless injuries they are becoming a great defense.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I have always kinda liked the Lions, maybe because they are loveable losers is the reason but to not give either team credit is just sour grapes. You must still be reeling from that loss to Panthers earlier this year. The NFC South was a division where teams were beating each other up and injuries played a factor at least for the Panthers and had they been healthy all year and had DeAngelo Williams and Greg Hardy all year they may have ran away with the division that was obviously not the best in the league. But anybody that follows the NFL with any objectivity would know that Carolina deserve to be there and proved it today. Not only did they dominate today, but pounded the two other contenders in the division on their home field when it mattered the most.
