Flacco's contract gets restructered in 2-3 years.. The long term money doesn't hurt it either... You guys have to stop paying attention to what channels like espn and nfl network say, because they don't take the time to fully look at the money. Trust me, every day I hear the Baltimore Sport experts talking about Flacco's deal on the radio.. Flacco is not the reason they arent signing guys long term.. Now, if you do want to put the blame on someone, Suggs and Ngata's deals are the ones that hurt us. There's no way we restructure Ngata and his cap hit is killing us and Suggs costs a pretty penny too and I don't see us restructuring him either. But, Flacco will be restructured in a couple years so that's not gonna hurt us.

These cuts aren't so much a salary cap issue (well, Boldin's was a little) but overall it's just the team trying to move on. A lot of people are saying John Hardbaugh wants this to be his team and he's telling Ozzie to get rid of guys like Bernard Pollard who were trouble makers in the lockerroom (ton of stories coming out about him now). Just trust me, this is not because of Flacco's deal.. Just please, nobody else bring it up, because I've been hearing dumbasses around me for the past 2 days blame flacco because they have no clue what they're talking about

And I think Cincinnati wins that division handily now.

And not to downplay Flacco's stellar postseason play, but if he got that much money, what are Ryan and Rodgers going to get?

Their are two problems with the Bengals..
1. They need a #2 WR: AJ Green is absolutely amazing, but he needs someone opposite of him to atleast draw some coverage (maybe like a Fitz and Boldin kind of thing)

2. Andy Dalton: he is an extremely average quarterback, which isn't bad. He can be a solid game manager, but the rest of that team is not good enough to carry him at times (unlike Flacco and the Ravens Defense).

The bengals are competition, but I think they're one of those teams that will just never get over the hump.

and Matt Ryan I can see getting probably around 130-140 million and honestly.. This might sound crazy.. But I would not be surprised to see Rodgers get a 160-170 million dollar deal, now he would probably never see most of that because of crazy incentives, but still, he's going to get something unheard of

If Flacco restructures his contract in a few years there is no way he's taking less money. Even if he regresses in performance he's not just going to give up what he has if he still has a lot of time left on his contract. At best he might allow the Ravens to extend his contract out more, get less per year, get more guaranteed money to do it, but leaves the Raven on the hook fore more years for still probably a good bit of money. (Sort of like the Brady deal now in reverse where Flacco gets more money later on, but then again, Brady didn't take less money either because there is no way Brady actually plays those last couple of years at the low price his contract calls for unless he's washed up by that point.)

At best that just means they will either be delaying cap trouble from now into a future date, extending out the cap trouble for more years at a lesser amount each year, or cutting him before his contract is over and taking a massive cap hit at one time. Either way that will mean good players the Ravens could have keep or got are let go or never acquired in the first place.

Maybe if they are lucky they can get some desperate team to overpay in a trade for him at a future date and pick up his contract. If they are really lucky Flacco will become elite and make the contract more worth it. Maybe the salary cap keeps rising by a good amount and a few years his deal won't be so bad either, but one way or another they probably will end up paying somewhere.

Every team needs a certain amount of luck to be good..How good were the Colts without Peyton Manning...Then they get Luck in the draft and it turns their whole franchise around.

I wouldn't be too sure about that just yet. The Colts probably outplayed their actual skill level more than any other team last year if going just on wins and loses. More likely they were a 5-11 to 7-9 team that got really really lucky. They could actually get better this year and still end up with a worse record just because of their fortune regressing.

Queens have done a bit in the last couple weeks. Released the cancer of Harvin (although he was a great talent); released vet DB Winfield; receieved several picks, picked up Cassel and just signed Jennings.

Anyone like these? I know I have one or two of my Purple comrades on here. I think we will at the very least - let's let the draft take place first of course, too - be a challenger in the division.

Vikings basically trade Harvin for Jennings, a 1st, 3rd and 7th. Pretty good if you ask me. They should use one of their 1st rounders on Cruz now.

Excited to watch Steven Jackson be a RB in a good offense for a change with the Falcons.

Yes. As a long-suffering Rams fan, I am excited to see S-Jax finally get his shot at a ring. He and Rodgers should make a terrific combo. Class guy who never complained and just did his job. I wish him nothing but the best. Of course, the Rams are an improving team and should be in the playoffs very soon but I just don't think he could afford to wait any longer since he likely only has a year or two left in the tank. Thanks for all the toil and dedication, Steven! With all due respect to Eric Dickerson, you are the greatest Rams running back of all time!

do not expect cassel to be the vikings backup all year he signed there because he was told he would get a chance to win the starting job. so even if ponder starts the season as the #1 he will have to preform or cassel will take over

Yes, S-Jax was great but as another long-suffering Rams fan, I'm surprised that you overlooked Marshall Faulk.

You know, I realize that Marshall was a RB but I really think of him being more of an all-purpose player than either S-Jax or Dickerson. Certainly if you use team results as a barometer, Marshall is the man. Statistically speaking, however, it's S-Jax.

In other news, looks like we've got some nice bookends on the OL now with the signing of Jake Long:

the Rams are making so good moves, funny how everybody forgets the had the best divisional record in the NFC West

Oh I didn't forget. My 9ers finally become a great team and every team in the NFC West decides to pick up their game too.

The NFC West looks stout for the first time in a long time. (minus the whole Arizona stuff at least :1orglaugh) Of course a lot of people thought that way about the NFC North last year and it didn't turn out like they thought.
