Nope, there is no doubt now that Luck will have the better and lengthier career. Griffin will be a Vick 2.0 sadly, worst part is he might be through quicker than Vick was, you have to remember Griffin missed time twice in college with injuries. Not looking good for him unfortunately.

The ironic thing in all this is that Andrew Luck will be handled and brought along by the Colts the exact same way Peyton Manning was.

Because of that, He will have a long and enduring career, much like Peyton.

RG III will be molded into another Michael Vick by Shanahan and his goofy son and unfortunately for RG, thats a bad thing.

At least Griffin can throw a lot better than Vick could. With Vick there was never the option to be a pocket passer because he sucked at it.

I've been thinking about Geno Smith in K.C and if he can learn the NFL game I think they have the pieces to run a good read option offense with Charles, McCluster etc. Bowe and Baldwin are both good receivers and the D isn't terrible. Chip Kelly may have been the better choice with the players they have.

The problem is, Bowe is probably going to get the hell out of there this offseason.. So now, Baldwin and Steve Breaston are their two best wide outs

RGKnee should have been out at halftime. Although I don't think it would have made a difference. Seattle is running the show.

Halftime...RG should have been out in the first quarter right after he scored that second TD..it's was obvious he was hurt...too leave him in untill the 4th quarter was incredibly bad judgement by Shanahan and part of me thinks he should be fired and never coach again for being so stupid...esp. since we have Cousins who has already proved he can get the job done...that fuck up definately cost us a game we should have won,,,but we have a great run to a Divison Title which is definately a substantial achievment for a mediocre 3 and 6 team so I can't totally discount the coaching job Shanahan did this year overall.

As for RG3, I'm not really worried about him healing up and being 100% again with the offseason to get right even if he needs surgery...just look at what AP was able to do running for 2000 yrds this year coming back from an arguably much more serious injury...so I think he'll definately be back and have a long Hall Of Fame career.

I'm more concerned overall though about Shanahan...something is wrong with a guy that handled his QB situation that poorly...I'm having a hard time getting over how poor his judgement was in this case...and not putting in Cousins, a guy that can really play, and leaving in RG3 untill his leg basically fell off is disturbing and embarrasingly incompetant...I really don't know what to make of it...it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and definately changes my image of Shanahan as a coach and a man.

How do you guys know Griffin didn't ask to stay in?

Good point but who cares?
Shanahan is calling the shots and on top of that, he knew that the kids' injury wasn't anything to play with.

Christ, when the surgeon that ALL athletes go to (Dr. James Andrews) is actually ON THE SIDELINE to watch the kid play JUST IN CASE something happens (and did!) you know he should have been shut down for the rest of the season after, at least, the first half after it became apparent that he was laboring on the knee.

Shanahan...

Well the Skins' fans would have crucified him if he went out bitch mode like Cutler or Ponder.

I'd be willing to bet Griffin wanted to soldier it out.

Hows he look now?

I don't know the extent of Griffin's injury but if AP can basically have his leg dangling ready to fall off Griffin is smart enough cool enough cucumber to come back just as sharp.

Ponder on the other hand (Joe Schmidt - one of our local sports guys said) arm was black and blue from the elbow all the way to his shoulder. He basically said it was terrible.

You're right I'm sure he wanted to be in the game, but player's generally won't pull themselves...the coach has to do it...However, I think RG3 could have pulled a Cutler and nobody in DC probably would have complained because he was obviously hurt...

I love the guy as a player but I think he was gulity of hero football trying to carry the team and selfishly stay in and play when he was obviously hurt, and the best interest of the team would have been a 100% healthy Cousins...I think Rothlesburger was guilty of the same type of thing a couple of times this season which probably cost Pittsburgh a trip to the playoffs IMO.

But at the end of the Day, it's Shanahans call and he absolutley should have known RG3 was injured....I still can't believe he didn't immediately go to Cousins...I'm not taking anything away from Seattle because they won fair and square, but Shanahan fucked up royally.

RG3 gave everything he had on those first two drives but when he went down on the sideline, it was obvious he was injured, and Seattle adjusted their defense making the read-option inneffective because RG3 obvioulsy couldn't run.

After that second series we should have rode with our Cousins package and with a 14-3 lead, I like our chances...Not making the sub killed our season and I put the responsibility for that partially on RG3 but overwhelmingly on Shanahan...absolutely gutless and horrible on his part and it cost us the game.

Sadly, there might be some truth to that. Look at the way people bitched about Cutler, even after evidence proved he tore a ligament in his knee. (In fact all those people that thought Cutler was a wimp, but now have a problem with what happened to Griffin should offer up apologies to Cutler. There are reasons people that are injured are taken out of the game). Sometimes fans want it both ways, or they complain about something in hindsight.

The coach isn't the fans though. His job is the make the best choice for the team within the rules and that's ethical. He doesn't have an excuse. That goes even beyond his job security or a selfish short-term gain that might hurt the team a lot more in the future because of it.

I see a career full of injuries for Griffin and he'll never be dependable to have an entire healthy season.

Well Shanahan just quoted as saying he told Griffin that it was alright to come out of the game on 'Mike and Mike'.

Anybody who's an athlete - I lettered in three sports so I totally know the mindset - knows that even if you're half dead you will not want to not do what you love. I've been there and been through it myself personally.

Everything is on Shanahan. Griffin wins games with his legs, if he has a bad wheel then you need to pull him and put in Cousins. Of course Griffin is going to say that he can go. Even if he was a pocket passer, you could tell that he couldn't throw because he couldn't plant and follow through. You don't risk his career for one game. Shanahan loses on both ends.

Nope, Griffin himself even himself just said it was his decision. Dude is intelligent enough and it ultimately falls on him. Shanahan can't get in his mind and body. That said, I don't give a hoot about Shanahan. This was a lose-lose situation for both him and Griffin though.

I say blame that doctor.

The call is on Shanahan.

Griffin - "I want to play"

Shanahan - "Too bad"

See how easy that decision should have been.

Or...

RG--"I'm good to play coach!"

Shanahan--"Yea, next year. Now sit down, fool!"

:yesyes:

True. Let's face it. It's fashionable to shit on Cutler so there's a definite double standard. He's one of the toughest QB's in the league and would be on the field all the time if allowed. But since it was him, people pretend he wussed out and didn't want to play. Then we see the situation with RG3. His team made the playoff wild card game and of course he wanted to play. Any QB would want to play it - especially a rookie playing year 1. He looked bad even before game time, and started looking worse as the game progressed, but Coach Shanahan was too short-sighted to see the big picture. There's a time when you have to stop thinking with your heart and use your brain. Right now, of course, Griffin is not going to say that it was anyone's decision other than his own. Otherwise he'd sound like he's throwing others under the bus.

On ESPN's 'OTL' today both Former player and coach Herm Edwards and Hasselbeck sided with Shanahan, as I do. The two fatty pundits OTOH who have probably never thrown a ball in their lives put Shanahan on blast. This was entirely on the Doc who examined Griffin and still cleared back on the field for the remainder.

First of All, Dr. Andrews hasn't cleared RG3 to play since THE BALTIMORE GAME !http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1473301-rg3-injury-are-redskins-destroying-gifted-qbs-future

I think it's pretty understood at this point that Shanahan totally fucked up royally by not subbing in Cousins MUCH earlier. According to NFL TV analyst, Deion Sanders, an ex-player, The little red room they took RG3 too during the game is the "feel good" room where team doctors shoot up players to numb up injuries so they can continue to play. Playing with that type of injury is always dangerous to the player, and usually causes much worse exaserbation of the "shot up" injury .

In this situation, Dr. Andrews can only give RG3 the needle, then advise Shanahan as to what he thinks, he cannot pull RG3 himself for a knee...Andrews told Shanahan he was concerned, but Shanahan played him anyways...but really you didn't need Dr.Andrews to say anything because it was obvious RG3 was hurt,,,It's just up to Shanahan to make the right decision and pull him, which should have been a no-brainer considering we have a more than capable back-up that has won games for us this year.

Shanahan's failure to pull RG3 costed us the game and further worsened RG3's knee injury. This was TOTALLY Shanahans call and he fucked it up. To try and shift the blame to RG3 or Dr.Andrews, in any way, just makes him look even more like an incompetant coward.
