I'm pretty sure that neither the league office or the team owners care about any of this - as long as they are still making the money. People are buying tickets, buying merchandise, their sponsors are giving them money as people are watching on tv. They're making their money so they won't care until they see their stock go down.

^^ The last one is hilarious. :1orglaugh

While I totally agree that the last call was undeniably fucked up, let's not forget a couple of things.....NO one expected the Hawks to be even close, and the referees blew a couple calls against them too. The Hawks kept themselves in position with AMAZING 1st half defense (8 sacks having nothing to do with referees) and showed that really either team could've won that game. Tate should have caught it 2 plays earlier and there would have been no controversy. Lastly, in defense of replacement refs and some of the most idiotic calls I've ever seen in a game...let me take you back to the Seahawks-Steelers super bowl......not replacement referees, but the highly paid ones everyone seems to be clamoring for now.....and supposedly the cream of the crop refs for the superbowl. 2 of the most bogus calls in HISTORY, not even a close call like that last call tonight, but outright WTF moments that were so bad the referees went on Seattle radio and apologized, even national sportscasters have said repeatedly that the Seahawks had that game stolen from them. I'm not trying to go back to that game, I'm just pointing out that replacement refs are no worse than the highest rated pro refs!

me you and i know one more person on this board remembers that super bowl WELL that is the worst screwing i have ever witnessed on a football field. pitt was going to win that game if stripes had to put on the chicken shit yellow. but words of a coach after a game...i cant even remember who at the moment ? ( i be damn if im going to stand here and blame one call on us loosing the game..it should have never come to that)

I can't believe how big of a deal a blown call in Week 3 is.

I can't really tell if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me..... One thing about that Superbowl, and really ANY game that has had blown calls that decided the game....the reason they don't stand out as much is because those bad calls were during the games, not at the last second. If that play had happened in the first quarter it wouldn't be as big a deal, even if the outcome were the same. If Rapist-burger had cheated that ball over the goal line as time expired in Super bowl 40 you can bet your ass the whole world would have lost their collective minds, but because it happened way earlier it isn't as important. No matter, EVERY team has endured terrible calls, EVERY team has had obvious fouls go uncalled, EVERY team has had a coach or player fined for bitching about the refs. If Green Bay was as incredible as they think they are they wouldn't have given up 8 sacks in the first half and they might have been able to score maybe 3 times?

the real refs return tonight and this weekend they signed an 8 year deal that they will ratify Friday and Saturday.
we will love the until the first defensive holding or pass interference call goes against our team.

The NFL did this on account of a few million dollars regarding these refs, all the while they are raking in billions. Total flagrant lust for greed involving everyone here at the top levels.

I'm expecting plenty of blown/missed calls from the real refs too for the next few weeks. They have to be rusty after missing pre-season tune up games.

That's the truth. I don't think anyone is really expecting absolute perfection. Fact is that the pro refs can make the same error that a replacement ref made and it wouldn't be blown up as big. The rep. refs were under a microscope the whole time. I think the biggest issue is that the players have more familiarity and respect for the pro refs. That and that the pros know how to keep the game moving at a steady pace.
By the way, I heard the refs had demanded a ridiculous amount of money - and are going to get it. I don't recall the dollar amount, but I remember thinking it was outrageous.
