NFL '11 Season Thread

I usually watch the games with a group of 8-12 people. Every one of them has a jersey on (mostly Colts). I used to have Bob Sanders, but we finally dumped his ass this year. I had to go with Garçon because Peyton, Wayne, Clark, Collie (the g/f has his jersey because she thinks he's hot ), Freeney, Saturday, and Brackett were all spoken for already.

I just think fans who buy jerseys are weird, especially adults. The fact you do confirms my beliefs. ;)

I am sorta, kinda with you. When I see some 56 year old sporting some dude's jersey I kind of laugh. I got my Moss authentic back when I was 23 and I've no reason to part with it, since it's really of no value anymore. I wear every once and again for nostalgia, and the homo Vikings fans love it. If the Queens ever do pull a Broncos or something (back to back championships), I will wear it more often. I also have my Reggie White authentic which I can equally pull out and wear if I want to piss Vikings fans off. :)

(and there are many times I feel like pissing them off.)

I would like to thank The Dream Team for mouthing off then failing miserably during this NFL season. BTW...that was a helluva hit Vick took.

So who do the Colts take with their inevitable top 5 pick? Groom a QB for a couple years down the road like Green Bay? Offensive line? Defense?? This is an important year for Indy.

...thus Indy has the "Suck for Luck" campaign! :1orglaugh

What says you, Andy Ry??

Yes, Indy will draft Andrew Luck and play him right away.

Don't be surprised if #18 never suits up again. Word out of Indy is that this injury is much more career threatening than people know.

I agree....many a player have retired after a first or second neck surgery.
The neck is nothing for mess with. :nono:

I would put his odds a retiring after this season at 35%...that would have dropped to 5% had he never won a SB.

As it stands, this guy will have to probably be carried away from the game one day as long as Brady keeps clocking records and has more rings than he does.

Yeah, NFL records mean shit when it comes to quality of life after playing. There's no reason to risk further injury or paralysis just to try and win more Super Bowls. Honestly, I'd rather him keep his health than see him get hurt out there on the field.

He's really only chasing Marino and Favre at this point. He's 3rd in passing yards (Brady is 17th), 3rd in TDs (Brady is 10th), and 3rd in completions (Brady is 15th). He has the second longest streak for games started by a QB and is the only player with 4 MVP awards. He brought a SB title to Indy for a franchise that might not see another one for a long time after he leaves and he's a first ballot HOFer. Really, what more is there to do? It's just not worth the risk.

He'll always be my favorite Colt.

*gulp* You almost got me all choked up for a second there.

Listen ARy...you are fooling yourself to think this man doesn't want to give himself every chance to best Brady. I know it may sound rather impractical to you but believe it's true.

Nothing protects those records once he retires (except for maybe Eli..) and it burns his craw I believe that he doesn't have the record for SB attendances as Brady does.

Why do you think he's allegedly over in Euroland swimming in stem cells right now?:dunno:

I really doubt there is a rivalry or person vendetta over career achievements. Obviously Peyton and every other QB in the league wants the most rings because they want to win, but not because they want more rings than Brady. That's ridiculous.

Because he wants to get healthy so he can continue his career? Why does anybody try to get healthy? To best Brady?? lol

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I can hear it now. Peyton is in a laboratory somewhere saying, "Doctor, you gotta do whatever it takes to get me back out there!!! Brady is out there throwing TD's and I'm stuck over here. He's making me look bad doc!! Help me out here. I don't want to get shown up"

You ever play a sport competitively STD?

I can assure you contemporary rivals want to best each other in a significant portion of their minds.

Sure he wants to continue his career it would be foolish to think otherwise. But to dismiss the notion that a competitor is spurred by his competition is equally foolish.:2 cents:

You guys want to carve out some all or nothing proposition over his motives. I'm not saying it's the sole reason of course but what I'm saying is a person can have many things others would envy. Manning is quite accomplished but you'd just be really surprised at the considerations you'd think were trivial but in fact leaves some of these people feeling quite 'unfulfilled'.:2 cents:

I think Manning has a better than normal Chance of coming back from this considering he takes preparation and discipline to an almost extreme level.

Quit being an ass.

The media makes this out to be some great rivalry. Sure, they want to beat each other when they square off, but I'm sure that if Peyton retired today, he'd sleep just fine on his piles of money. Trying to beat Tom Brady isn't really worth risking your life over. If you believe otherwise, you're a fucking moron.

Peyton can only play one position. It's no secret that Brady has played on much better teams than Peyton has. When you take Tom Terrific away from the Pats, they still make the playoffs. When you take Peyton away from Indy... well, you've seen the results. Peyton masks so many deficiencies in this team, and they're helpless without him. They were the winningest team of the decade with him in the lineup. Remember that.

Bottom line: he's the greatest QB of all-time. Fact.
