NFL '11 Season Thread

If the Patriots can't score a ton of points they have a hard time winning.

For the last few years the Patriots have been built to be a team that gets off to a fast lead then does just enough to keep the lead for the whole game. Coming back from a multiple score deficit isn't their strong point anymore.

I was pretty confident until Saturday when I saw the guy I don't like from Yahoo Sports (Mike Silver, maybe?) take the Patriots as his guaranteed sure fire lock for the week.

Motherfucker cursed it.

The hell with people saying Dallas is "America's team." To hell with them. They suck. Eagles win the NFC East after gelling all of a sudden.

In my opinion, I feel like the Detroit Lions are now America's team... I mean, seriously unless you're a greenbay/chiacgo fan, you like seeing this team do so good..

I can't wait until tonight... first place on the line after the Chiefs abysmal start. Great stuff.

agreed, eventhough I'm a Pack fan I can appreciate a beautiful packed crowd at Arrowhead for a Monday Night Football game, those of you waiting for a decent National Televised game might just get one tonight!

Excerpt from here:

"Can you believe ’15’?" one Detroit Lions defender asked after his team’s 45-10 immolation of Tebow and the Denver Broncos. "Come on – that’s embarrassing. I mean, it’s a joke. We knew all week that if we brought any kind of defensive pressure, he couldn’t do anything. In the second half it got boring out there. We were like, ‘Come on – that’s your quarterback? Seriously?’ "

Aaaaand... my Chiefs pulled out the victory tonight! 4-0 after being 0-3! Haley needs to keep bearding out, and I absolutely LOVE the schedule the next two weeks- Miami and Denver at Arrowhead.

AFC West looks like its gonna be a tight race. It blows my mind how Norv Turner still has a job. That team should be running away with the division year in and year out. And Todd Haley is an underrated coach. Props on getting back in contention despite a horrible run of injuries. They are winning games with Matt Cassel and Jackie Battle (who?) in the backfield and a receiving corps full of immature idiots.

lol. What a joke San Diego is. Is there any Chargers fans here? I'd like to hear what they have to say about this team. On the other hand, good for KC. A lot of people thought they'd fail before the season began. Even more people thought they would fail when 98% of their team went on IR 3 games into the season. Now they're tied for 1st.

I'm not sure if anybody has noticed, but San Fran is 6-1 with a nice matchup against Washington next week. Who the hell picked them to lose to Cleveland?? I'm looking at you PJPenny!! All these wins are going to be needed when we go up against Baltimore, Pittsburgh and the Giants later in the year. We could realistically go 11-5 this year. Unbelievable!!

I love football.

Me and The Grasshopper win the weekly picks going 10-3.

YTD 81-35

Week 9 picks. Put them in bold.

Miami @ Kansas City
Cleveland @ Houston
Atlanta @ Indianapolis
Seattle @ Dallas
San Francisco @ Washington
New York Jets @ Buffalo
Tampa Bay @ New Orleans
Cincinnati @ Tennessee
Denver @ Oakland
New York Giants @ New England
Green Bay @ San Diego
St Louis @ Arizona
Baltimore @ Pittsburgh
Chicago @ Philadelphia

Byes - Carolina, Minnesota, Detroit, Jacksonville

Daaaaamn. Some good matchups this week.

Miami @ Kansas City (Don't count out the Dolphins)
Cleveland @ Houston (Cleveland has nothing going for them offensively. Their best weapon is their kick returner. That's like a basketball team having their backup small forward as their best weapon.)
Atlanta @ Indianapolis
Seattle @ Dallas
San Francisco @ Washington (I'm not sure either of Washington's QB would even make SF's roster)
New York Jets @ Buffalo
Tampa Bay @ New Orleans
Cincinnati @ Tennessee
Denver @ Oakland (If Kyle Orton were starting, I'd pick Denver. But apparently him being clearly better is irrelevant. Go figure. Btw we coulda had Orton for alot cheaper than Palmer. Ugh.)
New York Giants @ New England
Green Bay @ San Diego (I'm jumpin on this before everyone else picks SD and it becomes the trendy upset pick)
St Louis @ Arizona (Lol. Kevin Kolb.)
Baltimore @ Pittsburgh
Chicago @ Philadelphia (Their record may not be indicative, but I like Chicago more this year than last year. Mainly cuz Matt Forte has picked up his game in order to make a little but more money. And anyone who calls Jay Cutler weak or not tough is a moron.)

Meh- the receivers in KC are no more immature than 'legends' like Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, or the incredibly ridiculous Chad Johnson (I don't use his stupid name). You're right on the horrible injuries- losing Berry was bad enough, but Jamaal Charles was (I think) an even bigger loss for the season. Not to mention our starting TE. And the forgotten one- an ILB we picked up in free agency who hasn't played a down with us because of an ACL tear.

I'm actually more worried about games like the Dolphins and Broncos, because with each passing week, those are the teams that get more and more hungry for wins.
