NFL '11 Season Thread

It's between Indy and Miami for the first overall pick. If you're Indy and you have the first pick, you must seriously consider taking Luck. Manning ain't gonna be around forever and you have to think that even more now with him coming off neck surgery

That's like Chicago drafting a SG first overall to replace Jordan 5 years from now. Indianapolis is in win now mode. Wasting a 1st overall pick on a player who won't play for 4-5 years is a bad idea. They'll rebuild their D and go for another Super Bowl.

Fuck defense, if they have the number one pick in the draft they should take Andrew Luck.

The only way they draft Luck is if they cut Manning. But there's no way in hell Indianapolis cuts Manning, they have to much respect for him. Plus Trent Richardson would be a huge upgrade over their current RBs. A good QB will be available in the 33-36 range, which is where they'd be picking for their second pick. Not that I'd waste that pick on a QB anyway.

Yeah it would stupid to do that if Jordan was in his prime. Manning will be 36 at the start of next season and he's coming off neck surgery, which is pretty serious in my book. His health will be a question mark. If the Colts get the top pick, they would be stupid not to at least consider taking Luck. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if he sits on the bench for maybe three years. While there are no guarantees in the NFL Draft, Luck would appear to be as close as it gets.

There's no guarantee Luck will even be as good as Matt Ryan. No way in hell is a team with gaping holes in on defense like Indy would or should take a qb.

How many times has the "best qb in the draft" actually turned out to be the best qb in the draft??

Ryan? Palmer? Peyton? That's about as far back as I remember.

Legendary Coach Says The Colts Could Trade Peyton Manning If They Draft Andrew Luck

Tony Dungy says the Colts should consider trading Peyton Manning if they pick up Stanford QB Andrew Luck in the NFL Draft.

Here's what he said on Dan Patrick's radio show:

"I would see [Peyton] competing and playing as long as he wanted. And if it gets to the point to where, hey, he comes back and it looks like he's gonna play three or four more years, and you say, 'We've got Andrew Luck, we've got an asset, we trade [Peyton]. I think that asset is too much to pass up, even if your quarterback wasn't all that happy about it."

In no way is Luck guaranteed BTW. :2 cents:

To be fair, Tim Couch, David Carr, Joey Harrington, and Alex Smith had quite distinguished careers.

Thats the ONLY list Alex Smith is on top of......and thats only lately, thanks to Coach Harbaugh.

Nobody is talking about Terrell Owens??

We all know he's still good for 70 receptions, 900 yards and a handful of TD's. (If he signed at the beginning of the season) I always wondered why Chicago didn't try to get him, but they sign Roy Williams? :dunno:

The Ravens seem to play down to the level of the other team. A good team, they play good. A shit team, they play like shit.

Unfortunately for Ravens fans, they still have to play the Cardinals, Seahawks, Colts, and Browns twice.

They'll kill the cards just like how they killed the rams after the Titan lost. We should be able to beat the Seahawks (but no promises), not even Flacco can lose to the colts, but those browns games could actually be tough (well except the one at home).

New Orleans @ St Louis <-- I see the saints getting 45

Miami @ New York Giants <-- ahmad Bradshaw all day

Arizona @ Baltimore <-- we better kill the cards.

Indianapolis @ Tennessee <-- Curtis, you back-up job next year depends on this game.

Minnesota @ Carolina <-- peterson's going to have a huge game.

Jacksonville @ Houston <-- jags will be falling back to earth.

Detroit @ Denver <-- tebow's real challenge, a team that wants to win.

Washington @ Buffalo <-- I believe in you beck!

Cincinnati @ Seattle <-- another boring Seattle game.

Cleveland @ San Francisco <-- can it be true? Is Alec smith actually good?

New England @ Pittsburgh <-- Patriots, I need you to kill those steelers.

Dallas @ Philadelphia <-- i think this is one of those rare games where romo plays well

San Diego @ Kansas City <--- i think rivers gets back on track this game

If I'm Indianapolis, assuming Manning isn't done and isn't doing worse than everybody thinks, and I have the first overall pick I trade down with a team that wants Luck, and unlike most recent previous years there is a good chance for actual takers of the number one position next draft.

With the crapload of picks they can probably get I start upgrading my offensive line and defense. Of course part of the Colts problems is that they haven't drafted good in years.

I hear several NFL coaches would have showed up at his workout, except they didn't want to.
