NFL '11 Season Thread

so the Eagles are signing lot's of players but still have big issues at Linebacker. given that the Packers,Saints and Falcons are they competition in the NFC don't they think they will need some?

Randy might play this year if one of the teams he wants to play for suffers receiver injuries

Anybody still trying to sign with the Jets, Pats, or Eagles is a fucking moron. First off, your dumbass ain't gonna play as all of those teams are already stacked with more talent than they know what to do with. Secondly, I don't know if anyone knows this, but TWO teams play each other in each conference final. If you just assume that the two AFC reps will be Jets and Pats (who are full roster wise), The Eagles can't play themselves in the NFC Championship...

... I repeat: The Eagles can't play themselves in the NFC Championship.

Wouldn't just make a whole lot of damn sense for any FA of note left to try to get with one of only a teaspoon full of teams that are just literally one-fucking-piece-away!!!!! The Falcons, Saints, Bears, and Packers are most likely gonna be that other team. Hell, with Vick being 0-4 against the Bears, the Eagles may not be there. Some of these FA's need to jump off Philly, NE, and the Jets nuts, and have some damn competitve dignity within your profession. Stop trying to be on that LeBron shit.

I'm so horny, even the crack of dawn isn't safe
Saint's free agent center to vist San Fran. Noooo. sayit aint so Jonathin Goodwin. We just resigned the whole best O line in the league except you. You want to snap to Alex Smith instead of Drew Brees? You are either money hungry or stupid.

Saints have improved both lines depth markedly in the last 4 days. Come Back Jonathin!!

Well lets be honest, the Eagles are not going to let linebacker remain an issue, and to be honest, the line is solid and the secondary is pretty solid and all 3 of those teams are pass first teams. None of them have proven backs either aside from Atlanta with Michael Turner. I see NO adding depth to their rb set with sproles and it does worry me tho that we could get demolished by a strong run team, but ik my eagles who are going superbowl or bust this year are not going to leave LB unresolved.

And as a side note:
Frank Gore has returned to practice, Sources saying Desean Jackson is ending his.

Frank Gore has returned to practice,

Gore is truly fortunate to be playing after devastating injuries to both legs while at Miami... It is really remarkable that this guy is in the pros...happy for the guy...

Lebron Shit? I understand we have added a lot of players that are very good, but that doesnt immediately associate us as the heat of the nfl.Unlike basketball, THREE PLAYERS dont win games. TWENTY TWO INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS WIN A GAME. The eagles had severe defensive problems which basically fucked us over last year. We realized that problem and offensive line problem by bringing in guys that can help. we add superior OL/DL coaches in Howard Mudd and Jim Washburn and we get new CB's so that Asante isnt stuck with Dimitri Patterson(who is thanfully a brown now). We add a DE in babin bc we didnt have someone else with Graham still injured and unproven to help Trent Cole. And Cullen Jenkins to most likely move to DT to replace Brodrick Bunkley. Its just logic if something dont work, FIX IT. And did we promise not 1, not 2, not 3..etc etc superbowls or have a opening ceremony with mist and all the works to promise a championship? NO! We are humble and are working to improve ourselves for the goal every team should have ,WINNING. The Eagles are getting all the solid talent it can to create a dynasty because i, like every eagle fan in the world, is sick and tired of not having a lombardi to boast about. Just b/c our front office has done a shitload more free agency work than whatever team you root for, doesnt mean were like the fucking heat. And nnamdi or DRC or whoever you want to say, did not have a 1-hour primetime about where they will play and diss their old team. #Howie Roseman #Joe Banner #Jeffrey Lurie #Andy Reid

:2 cents:

And until we added a lot of these guys, the Eagles were not stacked. If you call King Dunlap and Winston Justice great Tackle/Guards and Dimitri Patterson a great cover corner, then your crazy.

Winston Justice...Now that is an awesome name!

Did you know Justice was recruited to USC even though he wasn't even a starter in HS?

Probably had something to do with USC getting Herschel Dennis, Darrell Rideaux and some other receiver out of Poly High the year they were being recruited.

Funny thing is, they bring in Justice only as a package to help get Poly's blue chips...and Justice is the ONLY one out of all of them to have a successful pro career:1orglaugh...fucking irony.

It's not a diss to the Eagles, its a diss to the dudes still wanting to join up with them on bullshit one-year deals. The purpose of doing this is to go somewhere where you can shine and earn a bigger money, longer term contract... not join a team that is already stacked and probably won't feature you. A ring won't get you the contract you want if you didn't do shit to help win it. Philly is doing what they gotta do, but guys holding out in order to squeeze their way on already stacked teams for a shot at a ring is fucking stupid. Now, everybody and their mama wants to be an Eagle because it's sexy instead of choosing a team where they can showcase themselves and still have just as good of an opportunity to win. It's the players that are on that LeBron shit... The Eagles simply started by getting what they needed to improve.

oh, i thought u were dissin my birds... hehe... i know what you mean, and the lower end players such as johnnie lee higgens or jared page and even ronnie brown(hes a high talent player) and vince young, will all be leaving next year for sure, they are just here as extras and to be on board for a hopeful free ring and to hopefully get another home. Whereas DRC, Asomugha, Jenkins, Babin, they are eagles for a while, as seen by their longterm contracts. I could care less about these 1 year guys on our team. Ronnie is the only one i care for and maybe Higgins because hes pretty quick.

Side Note: Apparently DJack has not ended his holdout yet:mad: . But he better get his ass over to camp and the Eagles better pay him what he wants !!

But most will be forever linked with the team that they had the most impact on. You think anyone will say the name Jerry Rice and think of the Seahawks before they think of the 49ers? :noway: How about Earl Campbell and the Saints? :noway: Brett Farve and the Jets?:noway: Emmit Smith and the Cardinals? C'mon, that doesn't even sound right. I do agree with your point, but the average person is probably gonna attach a name to an organization. Unless your name is Dieon Sanders that is.

I was just stating how the football hall of fame operates, not how the public perception of those players. In MLB they officially go in as a member of a team while in the NFL they officially don't. I happen to even like the NFL's way of doing it, especially in an era where players move around so much and it's often hard to tell where they had the most success.

A couple of points.

1. Some players really like winning and place more emphasis on it than others in relation the the money they can get. Being with a coaching staff and front office that knows what they are doing is often something players like just to avoid the headache of dealing with people that do dumb things.

2. Players that are the starters get hurt all the time and backups come in a lot. Players get cut from the roster all the time for a variety of reasons and their backups replace them a lot in future seasons especially if the backup is good.

3. 4 games is a very small sample size to judge anything off of, and even that isn't considering the point some of even that small sample happened years ago under very different circumstances.

4. For as about as long as I have been watching football I've heard people predicting how some moves in the off-season made some team or another nearly invincible, or made them shoe ins for the Superbowl, or some other similar prediction like that, and the majority of the time not only did those teams not not make it all the way they didn't live up to expectations. I'm not going to get excited about any loaded team to that point at the start of the season.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
#18 worked out at practice today. You know he'll be ready when the season starts.

5th MVP award this year?

O-Ver.....nvm\\\\

It's good that the Pats choked away a big lead and the Colts just had to beat a team with no offense in the SB.

San Fran signs Braylon Edwards.

Hey Andrew Luck, welcome to San Fran.

Catch the damned ball BE or else Harbs gonna cut your ass Michigan or not..:o

do you guys think the new york jets will finally make it to the super bowl this year? rex ryan talks big and he has backed it up the past two years with his teams solid performance in the playoffs. Personally i still don't think they can win the afc east and will probably be a wild card again. this time i find it hard for them to win two road games. what do you guys think?

Look like the Jets got ex-Raven WR Derek Mason, that team is overated but I still laguh at there asses when my Ravens beat them on 10/2 when they come to Bmore. But I will be ever more happy when the Pats beat them. BTw speaking of Hall of Fame today one of the greatest CB in football is going to the HOF and that is Deion Sanders. He was my favorite player back in the 1990's. He had swagger before Chad Johnson and TO. He also played for my two favorite team's the Cowboys and Ravens.

He probably is one of the best CBs ever. It's just too bad he couldn't make a decent tackle or shed a block if his life depended on it.

 It's a question that he is one of the best ever? He was just inducted into the HOF.:2 cents:
