NFL '10/'11 Season Thread.

Manning - Better stats than all of those guys, plus a Super Bowl MVP. Do you judge best RB's by the amount of Super Bowls they win? WR's? Kickers? I bet you don't say Emmitt Smith or Franco Harris are better then Jim Brown or Barry Sanders, so why are Brady or Aikman better than Manning or Marino?

It's all about the rings, bitch. You know that. It's not like all Bradshaw did was hand off to Franco  C'mon.

Manning's Super Bowl performance was one of the most pedestrian ever for a QB  Contrast that with Mr. Steve Young's Super Bowl performance. I can't believe I'm propping up a Niner legend to a Niner homer  :anonymous

Maybe Manning will be the starter on the All ~FaNtAsY~ team....but in the GOAT talk...he's pretty far down the list.

You don't have to remind me how incredible Steve Young is. But Manning is the superior quarterback.

Do career stats mean nothing? Because his are better than almost everybody's. Ever.

That hit looked fine to me. :dunno:

Agreed. The NFLPA has to try to do something now about these arbitrary fines.

Right now Goodell is doing no good 'cause his god complex is stifling the players and robbing them blind (in some cases).

I believe to be the best QB, you have to have a balance of all the categories. Steve Young had great numbers, but his longevity wasn't there (if we say Steve Young is the best, then we'd have to sat Kurt Warner is up there too). If we're going by stats, then Dan Marino would be better than Brett Favre. Favre has Kareem Abdul-Jabbar numbers. Sure they're high, but it's because he's played 34 years. Dan Marino put up bigger numbers on a year-to-year basis. If we go by winning, then it'd be Joe Montana, and Troy Aikman, and Terry Bradshaw. Those last two were above average QB who we're more directors than big-budget producers. Another guy, Tom Brady, had winning years with good, not great numbers, but since he's started putting up great numbers, he hasn't won much.

I would say Peyton Manning is the best (and I don't like him as he is a Volunteer......one that went 0-4 against Florida :thefinger). He has 1 championship (the same number as Brett Favre) and a ridiculous winning percentage (I'm willing to bet around .667), as well as great numbers and multiple MVPs. If he were to win another championship, I think that would solidify it.

Just my point of view.

Right now objectively Manning is the best. That wasn't always the case even when he was putting up good numbers.

The only QB on top of their game in their day that rivals Manning's play now is probably Montana.

It's hard to tell how great Brady could actually be as his team and offense is constantly being re-built around him.

If Brady had the weapons Manning has had for the duration of time and the playbook Manning has had to work with...there's no telling what Brady's numbers would look like...he'd probably have at least 5 SB rings IMO though. As it stands with Moss he nearly went 18 and 0 and set all kinds of records on season.

We'll just never know...they'll both (all be in the HOF). But if Brady happens to pull of another SB this season with this circumstance...Manning would have to do a whollllllllllllllllle lot to convince me his career was better than Brady's.

Stats shmats! When i came down to winning the big one Brees and the Saints put Manning in his place...which is not first place btw.

And after seeing what the Saints just did to the Steelers, if New Orleans keeps playing like that they could easily do an SB repeat...and beat the Colts again! hahaha

Really every damn time i see a game with the Colts the sportscasters are practically sucking Manning's dick with platitudes, its freaking ridiculous. But you gotta love the fact that he got the MVP last year (should have been Brees hands down) and Brees just took him down a notch in the big game.
And talk about a douche, Manning just storms off the field like a kid that just lost a game of marbles....very poor sportsmanship.

Can you tell i don't like Manning;)

Go Saints!!

all about rings? young has one ring to manning's one...and as we all know, it doesnt matter if u win by 100 or 1...winning is winning...young's been to only one superbowl...manning's been to 2, 4 mvp awards, on and on...comparing young to manning...idk why im even talking about this...manning>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>young

justify how u lose to the browns at the superdome and the browns with a rookie QB...:dunno:

There is no justification. The only thing I can think of is that the Saints were looking past them ahead to the Steelers. Also, the Browns had nothing to lose as shown through how they played.

Anyway, its Football. "Any Given Sunday" is how the saying goes.
