6 games is alittle much for a man who was found innocent . not not guilty but innocent of all charges

Exactly my thoughts. Its insane that someone gets in trouble because the media felt like they needed to blow up this story, even though noting can be proved.

Goodell explained his reasons for handing down the suspension. This is the excerpt from ESPN about his reasoning for the suspension:

"The Personal Conduct Policy makes clear that I may impose discipline 'even where the conduct does not result in conviction of a crime' as, for example, where the conduct 'imposes inherent danger to the safety and well being of another person,'" Goodell stated in his letter to Roethlisberger.

"As the District Attorney concluded, the extensive investigatory record shows that you contributed to the irresponsible consumption of alcohol by purchasing (or facilitating the purchase of) alcoholic beverages for underage college students, at least some of whom were likely already intoxicated. There is no question that the excessive consumption of alcohol that evening put the students and yourself at risk. The Personal Conduct Policy also states that discipline is appropriate for conduct that 'undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.' By any measure, your conduct satisfies that standard."

More excerpts from Goodell's letter to the Steelers quarterback:

• "I recognize that the allegations in Georgia were disputed and that they did not result in criminal charges being filed against you. My decision today is not based on a finding that you violated Georgia law, or on a conclusion that differs from that of the local prosecutor. That said, you are held to a higher standard as an NFL player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans."

• "Your conduct raises sufficient concerns that I believe effective intervention now is the best step for your personal and professional welfare."

• "I believe it is essential that you take full advantage of the resources available to you. My ultimate disposition in this matter will be influenced by the extent to which you do so, what you learn as a result, and a demonstrated commitment to making positive change in your life."

• "In your six years in the NFL, you have first thrilled and now disappointed a great many people. I urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity to get your life and career back on track

The reasoning sounds very well thought out and good to me.:2 cents:

4. Dallas Cowboys. If they make the playoffs...

27. Seattle Seahawks. Pete Carroll gets some training wheels here, making the transition from the Pac-10 to a West-heavy schedule.
Haha. Nice. I hear Pete's bringing in Mike Williams for a tryout. Maybe a secret "Comeback Player of the Year" candidate??

Now that I think about it a dolphin isn't really that menacing of a mascot.
It's only the greatest helmet logo in professional football. The Blue Star, the Detroit Lion and the Chicago C are contenders for greatest helmet too.

Dolphins are smart and sailors think it's bad luck to mess with a dolphin.

I think the Dolphin used to smile...I'm okay with the "mean" Dolphin sneer..:D

I am also a Texans fan and I have no problem with Gerhart....in the second round that is. We need to take whoever is the best player available in the first round (#19 overall) at one of these positions: cornerback, free safety, running back, defensive tackle (in that order).

I don't see Toby Gerhart as the 19th best player in the nation so I'm betting we draft someone else in the first round but he'd be a steal in the 2nd.

If Earl Thomas or Kyle Wilson is still there at 19, we need to grab one of them. If not, I'd have my sights set on Ryan Matthews (which would negate the need for Gerhart in the 2nd).

We'll see....I just hope we don't fuck it up. The D needs to catch up with the offense.

I think that's what's cool about it..If that makes any sense. The Dolphins were founded in the late 60's and Miami back then was full of beach hippies so I guess the name fit. I think it goes good with the city atmosphere, at least South Beach and Miami Beach.

I dunno man. Houston has to play...

Colts twice.
Titans twice.
Jaguars twice.
Ravens
Jets
Eagles
Cowboys
Giants
Redskins

That is a brutal schedule. I can see a minimum of 6 losses just in those 12 games. Even if they did finish 10-6...is that enough to win the division? Or the wildcard even? I doubt it.

totally agree on both counts, Gerhart in second. i dont want matthews. mr wilson would suit us better.

we shall see, even if it is a hard schedule, hopefully we can pull a few out of our ass :D

Damn, I am not even a Texans fan and I felt bad after seeing that schedule.:(

I guess your right. It could be worse. They could have a duck as their mascot.

Its draft day! Finally!! I have been waiting for this since the end of the Super Bowl. This is pretty much the only NFL action you are gonna get for the next 4 months.

Aren't they going to draft Superman? If Jville doesn't take Superman who will? :dunno:

Hate to say it but moving the Chargers up to LA makes sense. I don't think the people of San Diego really want to keep being bent over by the Spanos family.

Draft predictions.

San Francisco 49ers.

Pick 13 - They're going to target either Joe Haden or Bryan Bulaga here, as CB and OT are their biggest positions of need. I don't see Haden falling past Seattle or Tennessee, so I think the 9ers will take Haden at 13.

Pick 17 - Hopefully Bryan Bulaga falls here, or any other OT to help protect Smith. If not, BPA and try and snag Earl Thomas or Taylor Mays. I would actually love Earl Thomas here, and try to find a diamond in the rough OT later.

Pick 49 - Jahvid Best :) Trading for Ted Ginn Jr means we won't have to waste one of those 1st rounders on C.J Spiller. We have our return man, now we just need a back to complement Gore. Best will be that guy.

Pick 79 - Terrance Cody. Even though he's way overweight and lazy, he's enormous and Singletary will whip him into shape. Great run blocker, but lacks the speed to rush the QB. I think this may be a reach though.

I know a lot of 49er fans want Clausen with one of those 1st rounders, but I truly think Smith will breakout this year. He had 18 TD's and 12 INT's in 11 games last year with basically just Vernon Davis catching passes. He was also sacked 22 times :( With some protection at right tackle, some continuity in the offense, (this is the first time he's ever had the same offense 2 years in a row) and Crabtree for the whole training camp and season, he should be fine. I'm expecting at least 25 TD's and 3500 yards. 9ers will go 11-5 and win the division.

WOOOOOO

If Jacksonville drafted Tebow, it'd just be to sell tickets. :1orglaugh and that hype will pass real fast. I could see Oakland taking Tebow. Apparently Belichik has expressed interest in him as well. :dunno: Who knows?

Lots of BIG NAME VETERANS could be on the trading block according to SI...

Albert Haynesworth  Wut? No team will want to pay that huge contract even for the most dominating defensive force in the league.

I like the idea of Lendale White being traded to Miami or New England :thefinger

Wow. That's a lot more than I expected. I heard Haynesworth was a detail or two away from becoming a Lion. :dunno:

Jared Gaither would be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiic in red and gold. :nanner:

I think Peter King is sort of a clown. But this guy for SI might be on to something here with this version of the draft.

Would Pete Carroll turn his back on SC and draft Eric Berry? Ouch, that would ~enflame~ :flame: the USC/Tenn hatred wouldn't it? It would be hard to justify Pete turning his back on hometown hero USC hero Taylor Mays...

I don't see Pete taking a RB with the #6. I think he takes a Defensive Stud...maybe Everson Griffin :dunno:
