Celtics pick up Crawford, and deal Barbossa and Collins...Examples of why both GM's should be fired. The two main weaknesses of the Celtics are the 1 and the 5, so what does Ainge do !? get ANOTHER 2, and deal away our only true center (Fab hasn't been properly developed, and Wilcox is undersized even as a power-forward) thus getting weaker at the 5 yet again. So now we have no real point gaurd (except reserve Bradley), and no help in our front line for a Celtics team ranked 29th in the league in rebounding ! Great job Danny !!, I'm sure he'll give himself a great pay bonus with all the money the team saved not re-signing Perkins ! Not to mention we could have picked up Sheldon Mack, or any of the other D-League All-Star point gaurds, for basically league minimum, yet we go into the stretch of another season under-manned and out-sized at basically every position.

As for the Wizards. Grunfeld traded our young potential rising star who led the team in scoring 17 times this season, for two old guys making league minimum, who probably won't even be in the league next year, and Barbossa is obvioulsy out for this year as well. Clearly a salary dump of Crawford's 2.2 million salary for next year, but to what ultimate goal since we are headed to the draft anyways. Wizards exec.s claim that Crawford was a dicipline problem, and they are continuing to change the culture by getting rid of Crawford, so we'll see, because players know that ANYBODY can be a dicipline problem if you're playing for a franchise that has sucked for the past 20 years.
My guess is they will probably do just like the Celtics with Perkins, and teams like Memphis with Gay, brag about taking the salaries off the books, fill in the vaccancies with lesser valued players or no players at all, and then ownership and management pocket the savings and profits in the form of bonus incentives, meanwhile the actual product being sold to basketball consumers continually gets weaker and weaker .

On the bright side, it will be interesting to see if Crawford can actually play up to his potential on a decent team, if so, he could be the steal of the trade this year, but if Crawford doesn't pan out, and the Celtics don't make the playoffs, then it's time to clean house in Boston, starting with Ainge and Rivers. I realize Rivers doesn't make personnel decisons, but the Celtics don't box out and that is basketball 101, esp. for an undersized team ranked 29th in the league in rebounding, it is of paramount importance on every possesion to box out, and if Rivers can't get his guys to do that, then he has definately lost his effectiveness as a coach.
