Agree completely, I don't think I've seen an entire Daytona 500 since that day. I lost a lot of interest when my driver was killed. I haven't been able to pick another driver I like, and I refuse to hop on the DE jr band wagon! I won't root for him, just because he's the son of a racing legend, he's gotta prove himself to me and he has yet to do so!

By the same token, not many F1 guys could do NASCAR. Both F1 and NASCAR are pinnacle elements of motorsport.

They are simply very different.

In F1 it is all about technology and fuel strategy and driving finesse. The cars are on rails and require a lot of simple commitment to get the best out of them.

NASCAR is a whole different game. 2400lb cars, barely any downforce, 800 hp, no aids etc... And the cars evolve all race as the track changes. Imagine that at those speeds, with a concrete wall and opponents right by you. Make no mistake it is tough and the top guys are some of the best in the world. The likes of Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson (and Montoya) could race anything.

I can understand people not enjoying NASCAR (it is not everyones cup of tea) but don't underestimate the challenge. It is TOUGH.
