More into CART/Champ Car, Indy and Formula 1 myself.
The merger finalizes today If I recall correctly -
CART + IRL =
It's too bad for some of those smaller CART venues, as they'll lose the annual race in preference of the bigger
money maker locations.
I hope that Laguna Seca (Monterey, Calif.) remains as a mainstay.
CART had some real great racers, back when -
Emerson Fittipaldi, Al Unser Jr., Michael Andretti, Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Jacques and Alex Zanardi, to name a few.
Mercedes and Honda power plants we simply awesome for the CART circuit in the late eighties / early nineties.
As for the NASCAR guys, I don't really recognize too much of an attitude problem. They're briefed / reeducated fairly thoroughly by their corporate sponsorships. Curt / Kurt (?) Busch and T. Stewart can get all bent out of shape fairly easily, as I recall :1orglaugh They look like fussing babies at times . . . pouting and whining, don't they realize how cushy their lives are.
All in All, NASCAR is a decent circuit, however, as
Juice sort of stated ahead of me, the corporate influence has marred the ambience to a level that I can no longer watch the day long commercial. Seemingly every statistic that is revealed on screen must be accompanied by some pop up / spam advertisement all f'en day long !
And what indoctrinated suckers the fans are for paying ENORMOUS sums of money - 2, 3, 4, $500 or more to witness the high speed drive by advertisements.
I'll catch the remaining 5 laps, thank you very much
I like some of those F1 races . . . (I forgot which ones, its been a while) . . where there are no advertisements allowed:thumbsup:
