Yeah, I like 2010 too. I know it got slated by the critics, but that flick had to follow 2001 (no mean feat). The only problem, is that it's references to the Soviet Union really dates the movie.

Plane,Trains And Automobiles

JohnCandy and Steve Martin in this comedy classic.Personally I think its one the funniest movies ever made.

I agree! The two worked so well with each other and the dialogue and scenes were funnier than shit.

Excuse me but since when was Life of Brian under rated? Films an absolute classic! I'm with low66chevy - it has to be Swingers. Great fun and it has Heather Graham in it (although this must be the only film where she doesn't get her baps out).

Fight Club is brilliant.
Any Given Sunday is my second favourite movie related to sports in any shape or form just neatly squished between Remember The Titans (1st) and Mean Machine (3rd - The remade version about soccer starring Vinnie Jones).
American History X - Wouldn't say that it is underrated it is a classic and everyone I know loves this film.

Me personally I would say that the most underrated movie of all time is Twilight.

The Odd Angry Shot (1979)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079652/

Plot Outline: In between drinking cans of Fosters beer, Australian soldiers tread on a few landmines, and generally experience the war in Vietnam.

I have seen all the U.S. Films about Vietnam and I liked them but this one is close to my heart because its about Australias involvement or more to the point, Our Special Forces.

The Humour and comraderie shown in this Film is as close as it gets for a civilian to see what life in the Australian Regular Army is like without actually having to enlist!!!....

sadly this is a very hard Movie to get these days.... I had a copy on VHS but I lent it to friend and his Fucking machine chewed up the tape!!!

I havent been able to find another copy since....

Sup guys we all hear about the most overrated movies, but how about the most underrated, these are reffered to as cult movies. Here are some I would like to name along with a little comment:

Fight Club (great ending, cool fight scenes, a personal fav)

Beavis and Butt-head Do America (hilarious, you are lying if you never watched the show)

From Hell (great movie about Jack the ripper, scary at times)

Bring It On (about cheerleaders, but guilty pleasure, fun movie)

Little Nicky (some say Adam Sandlers worst ever, but it always makes me laugh)

Me, Myself and Irene (often hilarious, great physical comedy by Jim Carrey)

Zoolander (hilarious satire comedy about the modeling world, Ben Stiller is a genius)

Those are all I can name for now, please post your own personal movies you think never get appreciated. Thanks and peace.

wtf? only Fight Club, Zoolander and maybe Bevis & Butthead are underrated but the rest are totally overrated :crash:

i thought the 'The Cube' movies were underated. I love the drama of not knowing whether the next room was safe or if it would kill you in the most gruesome ways imaginable

I enjoy Sphere everytime they show it, although I've read a lot of bad critics about it.

that was a great movie!!! It had me thinking and trying not shit myself at the same time!!!

I'm a fan a gritty heavy dramas, and if they have a twist at the end that suprises the shit out of you, even better...just trying to eplain my list...

Oh, and this is in no particular order

1. NARC - Amazingly gritty, real, and was a low budget film that turned out great. Also a great performance from Ray Liotta.

2. Momento - Awesome movie! Makes you think, and is the first origianal presentation of a movie to come along in years.

3. A Bronx Tale - I love mob movies too. This is the movie that starred that Lilo Broncowski (I know I didn't come close to spelling that right) guy who was recently arrested in connection to the shooting deat of that off duty cop in New York.

4. Sleepers - Awsome cast, great movie. I can't believe it's not more well known.

5. Donnie Brasco - Another great mob movie. Johnny Depp's best movie in my opinion.

6. Casualties of War - I think it was out the same time as Platoon was, and was totally overshadowed by it.

7. Captain Ron - So funny! Curt Russel's best performance ever as far as I'm concerened.

That's all that comes to mind right now.

Interesting thread all...
...gonna go back a bit further in time for mine...

1) "Cutter's Way" - Murder mystery starring Jeff Bridges and John Heard. Superb performance by Heard here playing anything but the clean cut parts he often attracted.

2) "The Long Goodbye" - Little known Robert Altman film is an adaptation of Raymond Chandler's final novel. It stars Elliot Gould as a very offbeat detective Philip Marlowe, with a great supporting performance by Sterling Hayden. Trivia note: It was the first american movie Arnold Schwarzenegger ever appeared in, though he didn't get a screen credit or a speaking part.

3) "Swingers" - Was mentioned earlier on the thread and bears repeating. Mostly well written, funny (especially Vince Vaughn), great score (esp the live Big Bad Voodoo Daddy set), and pretty accurately captures bits and pieces of the diverse Los Angeles nightlife.

4) "They All Laughed" - Peter Bogdanovich's movies seem to be either excellent or awful. Along with his masterpiece "The Last Picture Show" this is a little known work of note: essentially a romantic comedy with an excellent ensemble cast that includes Ben Gazarra, Audrey Hepburn, John Ritter and Playboy's 1980 playmate of the year Dorothy Stratten, who showed real potential as an actress here only to be tragically murdered by her boyfriend shortly thereafter.

Usual suspects, with Kevin Spacey...Awesome ending!!!:wave2:

I tried to like Sphere - but I read the book originally, and ended up being picky with the movie....:D

Carl Sagan's Contact (especially the book).
Most people hated it because of the ending.
I loved it because of its realistic ending.
