More Lies Spread Over Internet About Obama than about Bush

Now how in the hell this guy ever got elected to become President of the formerly free world is anybodies guess. . . I'm open to hear any and all theories.

 Uh, I'll take a shot...because the election was about the candidates on the ballot and what they espoused. Not everyone they happened to share a timezone with in their lives.:dunno:
:hatsoff:

He got elected because he's a smart, charismatic leader who campaigned to do things--like get us out of the wars, like invest in green tech, like tackle the financial collapse head on--instead of his opponent, who was an out-of-touch cranky, senile loon. And having Sarah Palin on the opponent's ticket probably didn't hurt Obama either :dunno:

Obama will be winning re-election because there isn't anyone to run against him. :dunno: Ron Paul can't even win the Republican nomination :dunno: Will the electorate be ~inspired~ by jazzy Mitt or Gee Whiz Pawlenty, or racist Tancredo?

Nope. Just don't see it.

That's why I don't get why Obama won't actually follow through on his campaign promises and why he continues to coddle to the nitwits on the right :dunno:

Bloggers. I explain.

They can print anything. They are more prevalent now, and armed with a gullible, lazy-ass news media.

A blogger cooks up a story, lazy-ass self-proclaimed "real journalists" pick up on something there from what they consider a semi-reliable source. No time to fact-check, lest they be beaten to the scoop by someone else. Other outlets pick up on it, assuming it is true. Someone fact-checks after the fact. Correction stories written. Correction stories fact-checked after publlication. Et al ad infinitum.

Add in factors of 24 hour news channels needing 24 hours of news a day.
Add in inaccuracy of Wiki-type sites being used to fact-check.
Add in "equal time for nutjobs" in reportage.

My personal view is that GWB was sold as an "idiot cowboy" and Obama was sold as a "sort of god" by Newsweek. Though he is in fact, human, any shortcoming has to be amplified. Who can live up to that? (besides me, I mean, but my bar is set much much lower)

Plus what Facetious said.

We're keeping score? Good. I'd hate to see this go into sudden-death overtime.

He got elected because thankfully most people aren't neurotic, psychotic catastrophizers who think they see a bogeyman behind every rock.

Yesterday it was overcast, today, not so.

Some people are beholden to the ward of state welfare lifestyle, others not. :dunno:

Official Newsworthy sources please! If you're correct than fine, I have no dog in this hunt other than being a selfish & greedy guy who wants to retain as much of his income as possible, but c'mon ABC NBC CBS CNN, hell, I'll even listen to PBS what the hell, just give me some genuine sources.

As anyone can see if they read the article, it's a casual article, not a years-long piece of research done by a large staff with serious funding. The writer went to Snopes - a completely legitimate, non-biased source for online myths/urban legends/rumor/gossip debunking of all sorts (much like fact-check, but it covers more fun stuff, not just politics) - and did a numerical comparison. The results are obviously meant to be seen as indicative, not definitive.

And if I'd have offered something similar from any of those sources you mentioned then I'd get the standard "liberal-biased mainstream media!" cries.

Whoops, it timed out on me. Anyway, what I was gonna add was: Every time I've used Snopes as a ref when making a point, my beloved - fun loving - cuddly American left wing friends have chided me for such practices.

jus sayin

Oh yeah, Re: sources ~ obviously any major newspaper clip e.g. LA Times, Boston Globe, Sacramento Bee . . .New York Times regrettably, work in a pinch as well.

1. Please show me where anyone (esp. me) has chided you for using Snopes.
2. About those reliable sources, please see my comment above...

What would be even more telling is to hear exactly who is determining whether these stories are "accurate" or not. Last time I saw you spouting a bunch of "facts", your source was a web site called www.liberal.com, or something to that effect.

It would be interesting to see how many inaccurate stories and accusations the lefties have come out with about Sarah Palin since Obama was elected.

Snopes is quite dependable, as is FactCheck.org (remember when Dick Cheney cited them during a debate, that people should verify his claims there, only to have those claims debunked on that very site? :1orglaugh Classic!).

When did I use "liberal.com" or "something to that effect"?? - Again, you think any source that's not approved by Sean Hannity is biased (while FoxNews is presumably exemplary journalism), so your standard is absurd.

As for Palin, I think the rumor about Palin quitting her job as governor of the state of Alaska has been definitively confirmed at this point. The woman who constantly speaks up about her desire to serve the American people and the great, exemplary Americans that Alaskans are, opted to quit her job as a public servant, gave up her leadership role, with only a basketball analogy and an endless-victimhood schtick as her explanation. :dunno:

I don't even get this article...or, more specifically, what constitutes "rumor."

A real picture of Obama without his hand over his heart during the anthem is a rumor?

A real quote from JFK is a rumor? A real speech given by Tiger Woods is somehow a "true Obama rumor"? Facts are now true rumors??

And how do rumors of Biden stepping down to make room for Hillary or Native Americans calling Obama the "Walking Eagle" imply anything negative or uneven about Obama's treatment by the GOP or Conservatives?

Remember, 1/3 of this country believe that 9-11 was an inside job. AKA 33% of Americans believe that the Bush administration had a hand in bringing down the WTC. True or not, people believe that because of a series of internet rumors. This list is conveniently missing a whole lot of rumors I've seen online about Bush, 9-11, the war in Iraq, his daughters, abortion allegations, drug use and his "relationships" with Rice and Cheney, etc.

I fucking hate George W Bush and his entire administration, but this is just bad, intentionally misleading writing, man. What happened? Salon used to be an OK site.

Oh, stop trying to make hay out of the use of the word "rumor" - obviously if something is a rumor but is then confirmed, it's a fact, okay??? Nobody's debating such a trivial thing, so stop trying to make a big thing of it. Yes, a handful of the rumors that circulated about Obama turned out to be true, with varying degrees of significance and importance. Here's the one about the pic of Obama not putting his hand over his heart:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp

and if you look around Snopes, you can find them debunking plenty of 9/11 b.s. (and btw, not all of it comes from lefties), in fact there's a whole section devoted to just that:

Edit : not ''caracters'' but :....

:o

[ pssst.... That wasn't your only error. :o - can you find the others?;) ]

It's not really surprising their are more lies about Obama. Bush was such a horrendously bad president the truth was more than enough for everybody to rely on. :1orglaugh

you cant possibly expect to accurately quantify the amount of rumors per person on the internet. this is absurd.

I think we're talking about rumors that actually take off, get mailed around, and get talked about by a large majority of people.

You can't count the number of diseases on the planet either, but you know about all the pandemics right? Same thing here.

I don't know what lies people claim are out there. All I know about are the facts: Obama is a Muslim, communist/fascist, Black Panther member, who was born in Kenya and it was a bunch of illegal aliens and ACORN workers who put the fucker in office. And ever since I found out that he was trying to unplug my (dead) grandma with his death panels, I've had it in for him!

And I tell ya right now, since that devil stole the Presidency, it's not safe for a decent White woman to walk down the street alone.

Bush was/is blamed by crazy anti JOO hippies for 9/11. Obama can't even hold a candle to that craziness.

The rest of the media is bad too, just FYI. They have given the current administration a pass until very recently. They are all terrible, the mainstream media that is. :2 cents:

Why was this bumped? I never understand the bumping process. Anyway, how'd I miss FK's definition that something that is actually based entirely on a fact can still be a rumor? Better question; on a site devoted to women who are nearly naked, completely naked or are getting fucked, fucking themselves, fucking other women or all a combination of all, why do we devote so much of our downtime to debating politics with people who will never change their/our minds? It seems we're all Sisyphus when we're bored.

America does not want to see a black man or half black man running this country! So the white people (which I am white before you talk smack) will never accept a "black" president. He could be the best president ever, but he won't be because he is "black", so of course everyone hates on this man, no matter what good he does do! It's no longer what party he is, it is his skin color, and that makes me sick to be an American!

The majority of white voters elected him president. Yet the latest approval ratings point to many Obama voters disapproving of his job so far.

So, I suppose they are suffering from delayed racism. And those who voted against him were simply racist all along. Nice try.

But I guess trumped up, bullshit "rumor" charges defy logic, yet really signify America's evil white nature.:spin:
