I was just discussing with a friend the other day about the dangers of internet bullying, in the 'old days' you might get bullied at school or at work by a few individuals but at least you could escape it when you left school/work and there was always people in authority you could complain to about the bullying and the offenders dealt with accordingly. This internet as well as phone/text bullying hits you 24/7 and there can seem like no escape from it, most youngsters are peer pressured into having facebook accounts so nasty messages will be seen by them and hard to ignore as many just can't 'switch off' facebook. As well as internet trolls who just go out to offend people whether they know them or not you can get fighting friends or couples who in the heat of the moment (just after the argument) leave nasty messages online because they are so quick and easy to do, I've heard so many people go mad because a 'partner' has changed their relationship status to 'single' from 'in a relationship' or an ex boasting online about a new partner just to wind the old one up and the message will be there for all their friends to see. Many arguments can be settled after a 'cooling off' period but easy and instant net access to social networking sites leaves many people leaving nasty messages whilst an argument is still fresh in their mind, hell even whilst the argument is happening! As there is no way of escaping the internet in the modern world you just simply need to develop a thick skin and try to ignore everything written by cowardly faceless people online. RIP.
Don't like the fact the girl killed herself and trolls are dipshits. But really to kill yourself because someones an asshole to you in cyberspace is extremely odd. May she rest in peace but this smacks of her having much larger problems.

No doubt. I miss her but I understand why she isn't in the contest this year. She has had two major, crazy stalkers. One of them has been stalking her for years. I know it has taken a toll on her and thank God she is so strong.
I'm sorry people have been harassing you too. The worst are the people that are nice to you for a long time and then they snap on you. It's pretty scary.

Meanwhile...on freeones......we have the same kind of troll talked about in this story.

I wouldn't consider trolling and abuse as the same thing.
Trolling is silly behavior and sarcastic jibes etc, basically harmless.
Abuse is vile swearing threats and so forth.
The former is a wind up merchant, the latter is criminal behavior.
I've never understood the term 'internet bullying' either, unless they are people you already know trying to bully you on the web, as well as in person.
Oh, and I think there's nothing wrong with saying you don't like something about a model, or airing your views. Adults should be able to handle a little bit of negativity. Nothing is learnt from constant praise, of which much is fake. Constructive criticism helps you improve. No doubt some girls would consider it an attack if you critique their nail polish. I have no time for diva drama queens.

As for internet bullying, I have seen it first hand, and it is awful. It may start off as 1 or 2 people that the victim knows, but can spiral well beyond that, and has a massive affect on the victim. Lies get spread and the old "no smoke without fire" mentality comes in. There is no excuse for it, and just saying that the person should not be so weak just means that you do not understand any of the psychology behind it.
