I loved arod's interview,it was funny.he(dallas)was overreacting acting like he was the ruler of the world, and people cant touch "his mound" please dont the sorry ass raiders play on that same field

For those of us that have been aware of Dallas Braden, that's the type of player he is: fiery. A-Rod was just being his usual diva self. I've literally never seen a player run over the mound, that's just plain fucking stupid. I also loved the fact that an admitted steroid user tried to talk down to another player, that's always fun. Just an aside, how does the fact that the Raiders play at the Coliseum bear any relevance to the A's?

^
Do the Dodgers have anyone other than Manny who can hit homers?

Andre Ethier, (OPS+ of 132) and Matt Kemp (125) say hi.

Absolutely. Ethier hit 31 last year. Kemp hit 26 and already has 7 this year. Blake averages around 20. Loney is more a contact/alley hitter but he's capable of hitting some bombs.
They don't lack for power.
The team's problems are starting pitching and depth.

also the Dodgers need the ownership mess fixed before any problems are solved. But yeah a true #1 would really help them look what Ben Sheets has done for the A's youngsters.

And Bradley wants help for his mental issues.

This was awesome news to me. I fuckin' hate that guy with a passion. As bad as he has been on the field this year, he's an even worse human being. I wish nothing but the worst for Milton on his road to recovery.

No wonder he's on his 8th team in 10 years. He gets paid millions of dollars to hit and catch a little white ball. But somehow, he's mentally unstable all the damn time and blames it on everyone but himself. I hope he gets hit by a bus - what a useless piece of gutter trash.

...look what Ben Sheets has done for the A's youngsters.

I'm not so sure Ben Sheets-himself is the best name to drop regarding any successes of the A's pitching staff. So far this season, Sheets-the-bed is 1-3, with a 7.12 ERA, a WHIP of 1.91, a .339 BAA, and a K/BB ratio of 1.

The classic oldies are falling for sure. Robin Roberts was a clutch pitcher for Philly, starting the All-Star Game four times. His strikeout to walk ratio was a bit lacking, but he was great in pressure situations. Oh...and the Tigers still suck.:(

Are you really this petty? Remind me to drive through a puddle the next time I see you stopped at the side of the road to fix your flat tire.

Milton Bradley is a human being. He is susceptible to mental illness just like any other person. I think it's a good thing that he's recognized that he has problems and that he's going out of his way to ask for help for them. Any person can suffer from depression or some other type of mental illness. Where's your compassion? Despicable.

Considering the A's have already had 8 starters this season, even with Sheets struggles, the A's are 12th in ERA in the AL. Although to be fair, this isn't even close to the poor start he got off to in 2006 or 2007, and he still had an ERA+ of nearly 130 each of those seasons.

also sheets is pitching for the first time since the injury,he missed all of last year and he's had terrible starts before. i was figuring his experince was more important than his results right now

Remember the name Starlin Castro. A HR, 3B, and 6 RBIs in his MLB debut for the Cubbies (through 5 innings). Peter Gammons predicted that he'd be an all-star at shortstop next season. This guy is absolutely fuckin' legitimate. I'm feeling much better about our season now.

I don't understand the A's at all... Isn't McAfee supposed to be a "pitcher's" park?

On a side note, I'm sure very few people will care, but my Padres aren't looking half bad after the first month of the season.

-A 17-11 record. 1/2 game behind San Fran in the NL West, and tied with Philly for the 3rd best record in the NL behind SF and St. Louis.

Pitching Stats:
-4th in the league with a team ERA of 2.89 (even after factoring in Joe Thorton's 7.71, Sean Gallagher's 6.92 and Mat Latos' 5.47)

-5th in the league with a team WHIP of 1.24

-3rd in the league with a .230 BAA

-4th in the league with a combined 228 K's (Pretty impressive considering they don't have a typical #1, or any prominent power pitchers in the starting rotation.)

-1st overall in the league with 6 shutouts (w/o 1 complete game, indicating that the bullpen has been lights out) and they're working on another one right now as I'm typing this (up 5-0 in the 5th at Houston).

Hitting catgegories:
Well, not so much to write home about here so far. But the Padres are ranked 9th in the league with 108 BB, 6th in the league with 7 3B, and are 2nd in the league in SB with 31. And on their most recent homestand, they took 3-4 from the Brewers outscoring them 21-2 (9-0W, 8-0W, 3-0W, 1-2L)and shutting them out 3 times, so that's a definite positive.

Also, they are currently tied for 5th in the league in fielding percentage at .987

I'm not implying anything here, though. As I have been a Padre fan for better than 20 years, and I know all to well what atrocious baseball may be waiting just ahead. But if they can keep up the great pitching effort they've given so far, and score a few runs here and there I don't see why they can't at least make a serious bid for an NL West title. But I'll wait a month or 2 to get at all excited about that possiblity.

It is a pitchers park. That doesn't automatically mean that the staff is going to dominate. Besides, if you take the average of all of the starters who are hurt right now and take out the two who've replaced them, the staff ERA moves to 3rd in the league.

Castro's played one game and now he's going to be an all-star next year? wow way to over hype a guy. i respect Peter's judgement but let the guy play some before giving unrealistic excpectations. he does improve the Cubs in 2 ways though with better ss defense and 2b gets and upgrade as well.

Watching Felix Hernandez give up 8 runs (7 earned) in less than 5 innings was excruciating. So much for the Angel's 7 game losing streak, now it's the M's with a 7 game losing streak.
