i don't care what you think of this guy, or how he lived his life. a man just died - a man leaving behind family. how about we all just take a minute and stop talking smack about the guy. i'm not trying to protect a child molester or tell you he was amazing. just have some respect for a human being.

if you can't, then you've clearly never had to bury someone close to you. and shame on you.

flame away if you'd like, but come on, people. this is a person.

to all the negative posts on this subject....hang your heads in shame!!!!!!!!!!

How brave!!!!!!!!!...to slam a human being in his time of death......you are all a worthless disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many albums have you released?!!!!
How many world tours have you headlined?!!!!
How many people's lives have you inspired?!!!!

Seriously...............you are stirring up some serious karma for yourselves..........you're just too pathetic to even begin to understand this!

losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i never molested children!!!!!!!!!!!

Why should I respect someone just because they are dead if I didn't respect them when they were alive?!?

& yes I have had to bury someone close to me, but they weren't a child abuser. . .well, there were rumours about Uncle Peter but no evidence.

One of the greats!

Loved his music as i was growing up in the 70s & 80s.

Thats when he was at his best.

The youngsters nowadays dont really know just how good he really was!

Yeah ive heard all the jokes already today but at the end of the day, its not nice.

R.I.P MJ

i feel so sorry for those on this forum who are compelled to keep posting trash.....guess what?......you have made your point!!

start another thread called...."I Have No Respect For Human Beings And I Can't Spell Propperley Either"

your karma is coming!!!!!!!

Anyone up for some middle ground on this issue?

I say that Michael Jackson was, among individual music stars from pop-rock, part of The Big Three:

Elvis
Madonna
Michael Jackson

(I'm also thinking of Bob Dylan, but I don't think he swept pop culture by storm the way the other 3 have - he's enormously important within folk and rock history, and as a songwriter, though)

(remember, this is for individual pop stars, not bands, which would have to include Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin - and maaaaaaaybe Pink Floyd)

NONETHELESS, the increasingly tabloidy and celeb-obsessed and celeb-pushing media will do their utmost to give us non-stop Michael 25/8 until we're all ready to scream. Expect a circus for his funeral (which actually might be appropriate in some way, I mean an ACTUAL circus, though!)....

There really will never be any megastar like him ever again. Not from America, anyway....

He was the last link in the Dynasty of Kings of Popular American Music started by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson.

^ I think Dylan get's into that list. His influence alone warrants it. But I'm a fan so I would say that :D.

Seconded.

Have never really been into Dylan, but even I recognize that what he did at the Newport Festival in '65 was one of those few moments where music changes forever.

Elvis
Madonna
Michael Jackson

I would go with (in no order)
Elvis
Frank Sinatra
Michael Jackson
?????

Madonna is obviously up for consideration in the 4th slot. So is Barbara Striesand. Chuck Berry.

I don't know if we slot in Jazz either or if we keep that separate.

I think Michael Jackson's life spiraled out of control and his *weirdness* has overshadowed the music for people under 25.

Madonna has had longevity and career savvy moreso than music talent, imo.

we produce Karma in four ways:

through thoughts
through words
through actions that we perform ourselves
through actions others do under our instructions
