I thought it "made sense" that "the Others" would turn out to be the only ones able to *magically* save Little Ben. I do agree with you, Meester, and cal about it being convenient and lame that Little Ben won't remember anything afterwards...that was a bit too easy. Hell, if Little Ben actually remembers that it's the Others who save his life, while Dharma was going to let him die on the operating table, it seems to give further support for his *future* betrayal of Dharma...

I think the Hurley/Miles time-travel discussion pretty much clarifies that we, as an audience, and the Writers of the show, have no fucking clue how any of this is working....

I think Jack needed to say to Juliet that he and the othe 6 came back to save them and the island....instead he gave her some lame line. I know Juliet retorted, "We didn't need saving!" but how the hell could Jack know that? Jack's life was spiraling out of control in LA...Ben was "working his magic bullshit"...Locke was sent to convince them to come back...Jack needed to tell Juliet a lot of this stuff. Why keep all that to himself? I know we are limited by time limits of scenes...but the Writers need to pack more *TRUTH* into lines of dialogue. They need to dial down the lies...

I agree also that I liked NOT KNOWING how boring actually the Kate/Aaron/Sawyer/Cassidy/Claire's *** thing played out. I really thought Sawyer said something *important* to Kate on the copter....

Smoke ******* is a bullshit storyline to me. If it makes ANY sense at all, which it probably won't, than I'll be satisfied. Smoke ******* can pick people up and eat them, sort of, it can reflect back dead people to living people who gaze into it, it can drag people down holes....it can basically do so much that there's probably no way we'll ever understand its purpose satisfactorily...

It seems clear--at this point--that Sawyer is happy/in love with Juliet--isn't interested in Kate anymore--and Kate and Jack aren't ever going to get together again....if there are any relationship "Shipper" fans of this show...it looks like there probably won't be a "happy Hollywood" ending for Kate and Jack...

I kinda figured too that the point of them going back (in time) was to stop the purge, but the people who told them that they had to go back, and interestingly enough that it was to save the people on the Island, were Ben, Richard Alpert and Jacob/Christian. None of those people would want to stop the purge since they were the ones that made it happen in the first place, and other than maybe Locke, it doesn't seem like they would really give a **** about the 815 Survivors living, since they want everyone else off the Island.

I guess it really doesn't matter why they went back, just that they did go back and apparently there is nothing that they could have done to avoid it because you can't change the way that things will happen.

The internal logic seems to be that for the Survivor's their time line is always chronologically forward, meaning that three years have ****** for them and they are all three years older and three years "in the future", it's just that the external world of the Island is not in a consistent time frame, thus they are in the year 1977, but they are not in the "past" for them, because they never lived there before. "Time" is just a place setting akin to a location and not a shifting state of existence.

If Hurley shot Myles there in the present 1977, then he would die- but it wouldn't mean that he would never be born at the time that he originally was (at this point, he may have already been born, so nothing that happens now would effect that) and he would still be alive in 2004 because that was his "past". got it?

For Ben 1977 IS his past though, so anything that happens to him then already happened to him and will be a part of his present state.

The interesting thing is that for Locke it hasn't been three years, it's been like a month since he left the Island and then came back (because he traveled into the "future") so technically that means that he's three years in the past compared to the others. that's kind of confusing.

widmore won't like it (bens arrival).
Widmore is/was still on the island in 77? a 40 something year old widmore.
i guess penny wasn't born yet.

i think this will play into it in an important way.

The Huely/miles scene was probably one of the best scenes in the series. I think it was put in as a "joke" from the producers.

hopefully this season wraps up next month with some questions answered. They got a **** load of questions to answer before the series finale in 2010.

yeah, that is interesting. I didn't think about that, it would be kinda weird for them to be there then, but they had to be since we know it was when Ben became the leader of the Other's that Widmore (apparently) got voted off of Survivor: Lost Island.

i,m gonna watch it again now. didnt catch the hawking part.
so the purge was in 92, i'm pretty sure widmore had been banished by then.
but they do know each other from some point, we know that from the conversation in widmores bedroom.
but now, they will know each other in 77.
we'll see.

and how come Daniel doesn't have an accent, even though he's supposed to be British. They just suck at casting actors with accents, I guess.

I wonder who Charlotte's parents are? I guess it doesn't matter. But it seems like since they revealed that her parent's were in Dharma and she lived on the Island, that it might be relevant to something, or at least to explain how and why she left.

I hope that we can get back to Desi and Faraday soon (and back to the future), that is the only thing that will make this season more interesting. I'm so over Sawyer and the rest of the gang standing around with their thumbs up their asses in 1977.

Ok, my question. As a lot of good shows have ended in the last two years (or will probably end with this season) and it seems that not a lot of really good and genuine shows are gonna jump in their place, I've been thinking about starting Lost. I've never watched Lost. Not a single episode.
But, I've heard some good about it as it seems to be a show with long story arcs and a decent character development. Now as this show is ending, and the Lost-viewers have something of a "rear view" on it, would anyone recommend it or is it a show that dissapoints over the long haul?

Well as you can see that I make up about 25% of the 35 pages on this thread, I'm kind of biased, but I think that Lost is a show that holds up well because while it does have a running storyline, each season is kind of self contained, where whatever the major conflict that began it is resolved at the end (although it creates a new one for next time.)

The show is all about character development. If you are halfway through the first season and you say "i don't care about any of these people, I just want to see what the heck is happening on this crazy island", then give up on it right there, because there is no point in continuing. If you enjoy the mystery of not knowing what is going on and getting the clues piece by piece, then this show may be for you. If not, then you'll **** it.

If nothing else, at least invest an hour of your time into watching the pilot episode. It's still one of the best of the series, with great production and editing and can almost stand on it's own.

gotta watch from the pilot.

There are so many questions for them to answer, it's kind of hard to imagine how they will close things next season.

I think I know the secret of the island.
The "*******" is a pillar of black smoke correct? Episode 4-8-09, Ben talked about their temple. And the wall around it so people couldny get in. Heres my thought. I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but I'm nott reading 37 pages to find out.

When God led Israel out of Egypt, he appeared to them as a pillar of black smoke. I also think that the island could be the final resting place for the Ark of the Covenant. That would explain the awesome power and bringing back the dead.

The only thing I can't figure out is the giant statue.

Please let me know your thoughts and ideas. It's frustrating to not have anyone say anything...Thanks

Ben steals Rousseau's ********.
Ben gets his ass kicked by Desmond.
Ben meets Locke, and its obvious Locke knows everything but wont say ****.
Ben brings out the Black smoke and we still dont get any damn answers except its got something to do with ancient egypt.

This show is turning into pure comedy.

I wasn't satisfied with the BSG finale, but it did end the show "realistically." I didn't like the final answer to Starbuck's "situation." I thought it was lame with what they did with her, with Lee and even with Adm Adama.

Season 1 of Lost is the greatest Season 1 of any series to air on the Big 3 American networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) since Season 1 of ER. You should actually buy Season 1. It's worth owning and rewatching. The Pilot episode is masterful. I like Season 2, Season 3 was about a B-, and Season 4 was garbage except for the S4 finale. I have been *satisfied* with this season thus far. I think you could begin watching it from the beginning right now and dig it bigtime.

I found it HIGHLY DUBIOUS that Ben wouldn't have any idea where ol Smoky "lived." I guess Ben has never ever explored the basement of the "Temple" If Ben was "the leader" of the Others, wouldn't he have access to the "Temple" too?

I want to know why Richard Alpert never ages. If Charles Widmore was aging on the island, why not Richard?

I thought it was somewhat surprising that Ben ******** Penny. I didn't remember that ever coming up before. Did I miss that before?

Kudos to the Pooonster for bringing up the "Egypt" angle. I hadn't heard or thought of that, then again, I don't "lurk" at Lost boards scrounging for *spoilers* anymore you little punk:thefinger
