All that promotion, support, and advertising campaign is kinda brainwashing system... it often happen to a greater or lesser extent, but in case of Harry Potter it is just fucked up. I can't stand this character from the very begining, and the more popular he become, the more I hate it

I think it is a little sad that adults are in line waiting for a Harry Potter book. A 12 year old I could see, but when you’re 30 and dressed as a wizard just to celebrate the occasion to buy a children’s book there is something strange about you.

It is an example of commercialization of literature. It had to happen one day. Music was commercialized many years ago, now the way is paved for the books. Such a promotion, that even in the prime-time news you can see a plot about that agiotage at the shops, about queues, and crazy children with their parents. and all that toys, stickers, games linked with Harry Potter... Alltogether that makes other parents to think "huh, well, my son is sitting at the PC all day, I always wanted him to read some books... but what could I give him? Now I feel I know!" So I think that most of parents do not give a fuck of how wack Harry Potter is, they are just happy that child is reading at least something, not understanding that reading bullshit is the same useless shit as just kicking dicks around. That is the base for such commercial success - parents want to buy it.

On topic..
I let my children read Harry Potter as well as comics and certain magazines.

Note: Reading is reading, even if its a cereal box. They make a good point. My mother used to hate me reading comic books. My dad always chimed in "Leave her alone at least she loves to read." I have always seen their point and continued it with my children. Of course within reason lol.
