Well you'd be surprised how many alleged "patriots" don't know that proper, dignified destruction includes burning. Certainly as the original post I responded to said it shouldn't be "burnt", I thought it should be understood that in some cases it exactly should be burned.

I hear ya,

You are correct. The idea is that they are destroyed atop a pyre (somewhat dignified, I suppose), not thrown in the trash to end up in a landfill, or burnt while being waved around in front of a crowd.

Wearing a flag is very different from wearing a flag print or a print resembling a flag.

They are also not to be used as advertising. Whatever that means. They can show a flag in a commercial, but can't put logos or the like on a flag.

My country's flag (Norwegian) is to be separated by its colours before being burned.

I can Imagine that would be tricky with the American Flag.

In this case I do believe that it is disrespectful. Hot, but disrespectful. Flag bikinis and such I have no problem with. But this is an actual flag. I'm not going to get upset about somthing like this however. There are much worse things happening for this to be that big of an issue.

After looking at the pics....that is most certainly an inappropriate use of the US Flag IMO.

Did you know proper destruction of tattered flag calls for burning it?

i guess that beats chucking it in the trash.

Either way, the only other reason to burn a flag is to show disrepect for the country, not the government or the president but the country.

I agree, but damn she looks good doing it.
Some one needs to tell her :nono:

Thank You for your service to this nation, Aloha ! :hatsoff:

Angry Guy ! Angry Angry ANGRY ! :nono:

Boooooo ! :D

I think we can coin a new term for this board--falling under the spell of a noob should now be known as getting "Facetioused";)

I always thought the proper way to dispose of a tattered, old Glory was to strap 5 grenades to it and then feed the remnants through a woodchipper:dunno:

Arrrrrg I'm AMERICAN. I'm so fucking PATRIOTIC. I fucking love my COUNTRY. Why do people defile our fucking FLAG???? Do they fucking hate AMERICA??? Move to Canada you fucking PANSY. Don't fucking disrespect my fucking flag in front of me Canada boy or I'll beat your fucking ass AMERICAN style.

lol Americans.

I am a veteran as well and the most american thing you can do is to burn the flag. It is protected as free speech under the constitution. We are allowed to show our disgust with our political cilimate that is why we seperated from england in the first place.

It's a piece of cloth. That's all it is and that's all it ever will be. The Irish flag as an object means nothing to me. It's the ideal it represents that's important, and you can't make clothes out of that.

"It's a piece of cloth"

Exactly... People put so much stock into things that really mean nothing.. its a piece of cloth that some man made in a factory somewhere.. If some thing or place or person means something to you then fine but do you really need something so generic like a flag in this case a U.S one(like that stands for anything anymore) to prove you care about it

In the end it's a piece of cloth so I don't get bent out to shape with what people do with the flag. Just like other symbols, it's what it represents that counts.

I have an idea HH might have been wanting to show some patriotism, especially for the guys out in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Although having said that, I wouldn't want to be the one showing anyone such pictures in those parts of the world, much less to soldiers.

Sometimes the British page three models have done photo shoots for the lads serving the country. (Although I don't see serving some lost political agenda in someone else's slice a land as serving the country).

I see American flags everywhere. Every time I see one, it is flying high. In fact, a few minutes ago I was looking at one on the top of a building. It is a thing here in the States. Flags everywhere. In any case, this was the first time I saw one drooping a little bit. Not enough wind blowing.

When I see it, I am reminded of the country, how grateful I am to be here, its hopes and ideals despite so many people trampling all over them, the rule of law despite all its flaws, the beauty and neatness of the city, (I never thought I could ever live in a city, being a bit of a beach bum by nature), just how efficiently things are run, that it is a free country, it is our country.

It represents something to strive for in our daily lives. We are all under its banner nowadays. The American flag stands for a nation. That's it. IMO.

I never really thought of a flag, though, as being something to rally under against another nation. Rather it is something to rally under representing our particular spot of soil, our nation.

I don't think HH meant anything underhanded. She probably just thought it sexy. It seems out of place though, by association, and because a flag is precious from the point of view that it kind of stands alone.

I don't believe other countries would have stood for this kind of thing, so I guess it isn't something we would want to boast about either. A glamour shoot, maybe, but not the porn type one.

It isn't like it means nothing, you know?

Really? When I see it, I'm reminded of how unpatriotic that American citizens really are. Seriously, we think that hanging a fucking flag in front of our house and taking our hats off during the National Anthem makes us better Americans. Yet, we buy cheap crap that's made overseas and support other countries and their citizens, and then turn around and refuse to help the 90 year old lady living next door cut her front lawn. The American flag...patriotic? Now-a-days, it's anything but.
