disrespect for the american flag

Aloha all,
I was taught the American flag should not be worn as clothing or should never touch the ground. being as I'am a veteran I find Hanna Hilton's photo layout wrong as she is doing both. seeing that she is an American I think she would have been taught that as a child.I'am not saying that red and white stripes and blue field and stars on clothing or on a bikini is wrong as it is not made with 50 stars (hopefully a bikini is to small for that many stars) or that an American flag patch is wrong.clothing is one thing, but to use the American flag, is in my mind, WRONG!!!(just my 2 cents for whats it worth) Aloha.

Let's just say that if Ms Hilton's garment was actually made with an OFFICIAL American Flag, then and only then, there would be an issue.

Write off the bikini as a mere replica and nothing else, besides, I think that the Stars and Bars looks cheesy in clothing applications. :hatsoff:

WOT!! :nono:
If I had my way you would be sent to the Tower for that, A short stay while you await execution! Hung, drawn & quartered! Your body burnt & ashes scattered to the four winds! & anyone who dared mention your name would suffer the same fate!!

WOW! I know Tower of London is that harsh but those methods are super crazy!

First a soft iron maiden torture then end the pain with Halifax death device! :crash:

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
This reminds of an Olympic controversy (2000 maybe?) when the American 4x100 meter relay team won the gold and posed for pictures while draped in the American Flag. People complained because they said it was disrespectful. I had to disagree with that. These guys worked their asses off for the honor of representing their country. If they want to celebrate with the flag, then more power to them. They weren't harming or dishonoring the flag so it's okay by me.

The only time I ever have a problem with people posing with the flag is when they put it on the ground. To me, it's disrespectful. I'm not going to write a Congressman and pitch a bitch, but I don't like it. Any other poses with the flag, have at it. Just keep it off the ground, that's really all I ask. Bikini American flags - not a problem with me as long as you're not cutting up actual flags to make them, which I'm sure one does anyway.

It is just cloth, but it also represents your country. My Father has my Grandfather's folded American Flag from his service in France during World War II. So you can say it's just a flag, but some can mean more to you than others. That's something that will be handed down to me and I'll treasure it for the rest of my life.

I also think we are confusing patriotism with being a good person. Not donating to cancer research or the Children's Hospital doesn't make me unpatriotic. It might make me a dick, but it doesn't mean I dislike America. I am always weary of donating to causes. If I'm donating my hard earned money I want to know specifically where it's going, not just towards some overarching banner of finding a cure. Misspent money doesn't help anyone.

I was never taught that the flag cannot be worn as clothing. and as for your claiming that flag patch is ok, if it is on clothing then it is clothing, which renders your argument moot, not to mention stupid and lame.

I don't know what penalties someone might face for the desecration of the flag...

Well, one Sgt. once told me way back when: "You better not let that flag hit the fucking ground or you snap your neck and kill yourself before it hits the deck!"

That is one belief... I find it sad when I see places flying worn and tattered flags at their place of business or public settings. You see threads hanging all over it, dirty looking, it's sad.

^^True. A little bit like (not on the same scale of importance, granted) the 'broken window' syndrome.

No sir...it was actually "old glory". This is a misguided attempt at patriotism, ignorance and a inappropriate use of the US Flag. Now some people will argue it's just a piece of cloth, that the US Constitution is merely a piece of paper even and rights are simply revocable. I certainly disagree and any such argument ought to be met as an opportunity to inform if not educate on these issues.

^ Go kiss yourself in / on the ass now !

I have developed a sense of reverence for my flag as a result of growing up in a household with an ACTUAL loving - disciplanary father figure (can you imagine ? !!), a father who proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army. Dad was a hero of mine who felt that a nations' populous can have their disagreements, but he felt that there should always be at least one thing that we all hold dear in order for our nation to remain intact, the flag of our country. Sure, there were plenty of things that dad and I didn't see eye to eye on, even his message about "the one nation that we should all hold dear'' was a bit unclear. Today, it all makes sense.

:dunno: Welcome to the club. You say that as if it's an accomplishment or something...or that you have some exclusive membership to that club.

Although my father did serve in 'Nam, what's that got to do with me and my own patriotism borne of my service to country?? My father helped my mother to raise me and my 3 siblings but I'm my own man who's relied on my own worthwhile experiences to grow my patriotism....not someone else's.

Still not sure what the point of your response is based on what I posted...maybe you just need to be disagreeable with 'Mega or something...either way.....kiss your own ass back at ya....(or dad's ass since he's responsible for your patriotism).

There just pictures of a naked woman on a flag, she didn't mean to be disrespectful ...

Our flag ain't the nicest one, hell it looks as crummy as can be, if you hold it wrong you might think it's a German flag ... Many over here can't sing the national anthem ... Many rather have a president instead of a king ... Even some in the goverment want to separate our country into 3 Regions, because they don't know what to do with our Capital city Brussels ,keeping it flemish our giving it to the French ...
Who gives a fuck ... Sure, there are other opinions over here as well. I'm not the only one who thinks like this.

I like to live here, i like the fact that my family and friends live here and that I am able to work here, go out and have a beer, being able to talk to one, being able to understand him as well ... This is what I see and what makes me proud as "A Belgian" ... Not some things or jackasses who appear on tv.
I will defend the ones I know, but I ain't going to fight for a jackass (talking about our prime minister) because he wants to help a county who fights another country somewhere for God knows what ...
