Convicted criminal President Donald Trump's Legacy

That's why there are only 5 major rail freight companies monopolizing the industry.
Which is sad, because if the US passenger train network could have developed like that in Europe and Asia, it could have been amazing. Hell, you could have had those maglev trains taking you from NYC to Washington years ago.

It once was.
No doubt

When I think of images like this, I think of the US, specifically the old west. It's literally iconic.

While the fuckups of the rail companies is a factor, I would say the invention of the car and the mentality of wanting personal transportation as opposed to mass transit is something that not only lead to US rail's downfall, but also continues to be an obstacle today.

And of course now a days the main thing against public transportation is the fact that the public is on it.
That's why I'll never get on a bus. As far as Amtrak goes, they have had a fair amount of derailments in the past few years, part of which, I personally believe is because they share the same rails freight trains do. Heavy freight puts a lot of wear and tear on the rails, passenger equipment is lighter, and usually longer, but also moves at higher speeds. I think that might contribute to some of the passenger rail issues.

Railroads and politics have been married since the US Civil War: Crédit Mobilier. Politicians from both parties were alleged to have been involved in the scheme - including future president Garfield.

The government needs the railroads. How are they going to move 100 tanks across the country in 2 or 3 days, on the cheap. I think their best cargo plane can hold 2 or 3 maybe? Not to mention all of the other land vehicles needed to wage war or occupy land. Even if it's only 5 or 10 smaller vehicles they will use trucking companies to get them from base a to base b.

Although I doubt it has little to do with what you guys are talking about.

With few exceptions, republicans are systematically destroying American democracy with the clear objective of replacing it with strongman authoritarianism, a new and American version of what Benito Mussolini called fascism.

The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men like parasites Putin, XI and Trump.

The writing is on the (border) wall.

It's been 2 years since J6. Ahole Trump should have received a verdict of guilty on all charges and been executed for treason.
Evil ahole Trumps spineless republicans and ahole mafia cronies will help ahole Trump weasel out of any jailtime and he'll only have to pay a fine.
Ahole Trump will probably start a GoFundMe to pay the fine, the corrupt republicans and the disinformed republican base will donate way more than the full amount needed.

Ahole Trump will never be arrested. His ahole republican and ahole mafia cronies will do all in their power to get him off with only a fine.
His dumbass devotees will donate to pay all ahole Trumps legal bills and fines. In America, wealthy scumbags and politicians are rarely imprisoned, and if they are, it's like house arrest.

By the end of Tuesday we will know one way or the other. I think we both want him out of the way even if for different reasons. I hope no convenient idiots stick their neck out for Trump and risk incarceration.

Best case scenario is that he is arrested tomorrow, and there isn't a single protest.
That would be perfect. You take him out of the public eye, show that he no longer has the "invincible" power and humiliate him.

It shouldn't be a hard sell - all you have to do is point out that he didn't pardon a single Jan 6 protester, and that is representative of how little he thinks of his followers despite literally putting their lives on the line for him.

Yeppers. Throw the clown overboard. He has made himself obsolete. Enough is enough and it's time for a change!

Well, the sun has set on the US east coast, and all I'm seeing is a big fat nothing.

Also, no news of the "arrest" or "protests".
