Will Pence be his mate?
Kari Lake will have some free time to help him out. Kristi Noem, although from a solid red state, should be in the mix as well.

It is way too early, but I see him picking a woman if he gets the nomination.

I just hope that enough republicans support a different candidate. He'll still run on the independent ticket, but if he has the official nod, the republicans are doomed. I think they realize it.
Donald Trump is just about almost indicted / convicted. He's done. Republicans will support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and even former Vice President Mike Pence before they'll support Trump again.

Think about it. What we just had was the third election in a row where he's caused Republicans to lose seats in the House, the Senate and even in the State houses (the Gubernatorial races). There won't be a fourth.

Republicans actually gained House seats in 2020 and 2022 - after getting the traditional midterm drubbing (-35) in 2018. The bright side for the Dema is that they did not lose 35 seats and kept the Senate. To me it seems like another stalemate. (Eldridge Gerry is smiling too.)

Why even declare so early? There is no benefit and it restricts your spending and fundraising. Does he really think being a candidate will keep him from being indicted?

Split the party Donald.

He's done.
I want to believe, but I have been wrong so many times before. :(

I was wondering about that, since I presume fundraising limits don't apply until you officially become a candidate. I think he realized that he's fleeced the trumpians for all that he can with the "legal defense fund", so that well is dry and unlikely to exceed any limits as a candidate.

The big gamble is the runoffs - let's see if this pays off.

The Republicans can control the House. It's just a very slim majority. Less than eight representatives (218-211) right now with six races undecided. But it's up to the Democratic held Senate to ratify a House bill and bring to the President so it becomes law. The Senate holds the upper hand here. Also on appointments, the Senate can control Biden's appointments. Maybe extend the Associate Justices to the Supreme Court, etc., etc.

Trump will just use the "Save America" PAC money. He was supposed to be using that to finance Republican House and Senate campaigns whose candidates he endorsed, but instead :

1. What he's been doing with it is that he's been hiring lawyers with keep him out of indictments with the Mar-a-Lago confidential document retention issue with the District Court (Judge Aileen Cannon) and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
2. The Ninth Circuit Court in the lawsuit with John Eastman in California (denial of the election results), so many other cases right now on the docket in the Washington,D.C. Circuit (more election denials), and lastly in the state of Georgia (over the Brad Raffensperger tape incident asking to find more votes. More election denials )
3. Hiring attorneys in the Trump Organization criminal trial currently going on in New York City and the New York State litigation in the civil action of his properties being over valued and fraudulently reported to lending organizations and banks.

By the way, using PAC money for any other purpose, like hiring lawyers to defend him in these cases is usually frowned upon. It could also lead to more investigations and more indictments for Donald Trump by the Biden Administration. It's up to what Attorney General Merrick Garland wants to do.

I think he realized that he's fleeced the trumpians for all that he can with the "legal defense fund", so that well is dry and unlikely to exceed any limits as a candidate.

Is the ad truthful? Apparently not. The Washington Post fact checked it.

But it is out there and it makes for good discussion.

Merrick Garland is kicking it into high gear by appointing a special counsel. Before getting too encouraged by this news, I just think back to the success of prior special counsels.

His response. The usual. "Which Hunt" --

-- Time to burn Donald Trump with the steaks. Oops. My bad! ... "at the Stake"

Notice how I picked New York Strip Steaks. :) There's a reason why I did that ... :giggle:

"Rump Roast" is a New Yorker.

God that's a great looking steak. You have no idea how long it's been since I've had a good steak.

I’m working on 3 weeks. Filet, medium rare. My wife requires hers too cooked though.

At my local grocery stores things like meat, booze, and other stuff gets marked down during the holidays. Maybe check the stores for sales this week and hopefully you can find some nicely marked down steaks that you can buy then put in the freezer.

Sadly, and ashamedly I must admit.

I don't do well with a grill. Unless I'm doing dogs or burgers. The other issue is my oven. It's not working, which means the broiler isn't working.

Now he has to disclose his past tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee. The United States Supreme Court has ruled.

The Treasury Department must release them to Chairman Richard Neal (D-MA) and his Committee.

Donald Trump and his lawyers said that this sets a bad precedence for future presidents.

He just doesn't get it -- *cough LOSER cough* -- he is the reason why the Supreme Court ruled the way they did. Trump set the precedent.

Donald Trump was the first and only President since 1914 (the year after the tax code was created) to not disclose his tax returns. All living ex-Presidents: Carter, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden all voluntarily disclosed. Even the last deceased Presidents: Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Bush disclosed. Trump was the only one not to put his returns out there for public scrutiny and now to Congressional oversight.

I wonder how much fraud can be found in them? Just not looking good for # 45. He deserves to feel all the heat that comes about because of this.

The House better move fast as you know what will happen when the Trumpistas take over? Nothing.
Believe me, the Justice Department has enough information, Mar-a-Lago, January 6th Insurrection, and now the Treasury Department to indict ex-President Trump. Remember the Internal Revenue Service is part of the Treasury Department which is part of the Justice Department. Attorney General Merrick Garland along with Special Counsel Jack Smith are well aware of the tax return fraud that Donald Trump has already done here. It's being played out in the New York State Courts now with the New York State Attorney General Letitcia James' Office and with Alvin Bragg's New York City District Attorney's Office as I write this. These House Investigations into Donald Trump just give the Department of Justice more evidence to indict him. Merrick Garland is being prudent and wise. He can be patient. Let Mr. Smith's investigations run their course.
